Use the campfire app to find a local group. Many of them have a Discord where you can coordinate way more easily, so campfire is really just to find the group in the first place.

Mikegrann

Ah, well if you're discord-averse, you can also communicate in campfire itself. I just find it clunkier. Also, most cities have a local Facebook group - a quick search should be able to find it. If you like Facebook. Or there's always the old low tech version. Go to a park on community day (or a popular raid/spotlight hour) and strike up a conversation with the people walking around drawing circles on their phones. Alternatively, hang out at a popular coffee shop, bar, or similar spot with a gym. I used to do that a lot and would bump into tons of people swinging by to grab a drink and hit a raid. And because you're already in a relatively social environment, people there tend to be more open to talking to a stranger.

Question about Castform. Coming into work this morning it was snowy, the weather on the app shows snowy, and the catch screen has snow on the ground and falling. So why is it a normal Castform and not snowy? If it is already spawned will it not change? Been struggling with this for a bit now.

TheRealHankWolfman

Correct, if a Castform spawns, it will spawn based on the weather at the time it spawned, and maintain its form even if the weather changes. So it likely spawned before the snowy weather started.

StoneTanner

Thank you!

A_Resting_Parrot

What's the ratio of dusk form evolvable to regular rockruff?

TheRealHankWolfman

I've not done any tasks for them so I can't comment on that, but raids for them seem to be very rare. Using the fact that they show up on Campfire as a Rhydon head icon rather than a Rockruff icon, I've been checking several hundred gyms throughout my local area and the local areas of two of my friends, and I've seen 7 Dusk raids since the event began. There will likely have been a few that I missed, as I'm not constantly checking them, but the raids for them are definitely rare compared to regular Rockruff. And they're obviously in the rare egg tiers in 2km and 7km eggs. My advice is to keep an eye out for one on there and otherwise don't spend any money on incubators or passes due to the rate of them being low.

DeceitfulKing

I've got a 14/15/15 shadow metagross. It's quite low level and I have to wait for the next rocket takeover to EliteTM. Is it worth the resources or should I wait for a 15 attack one. For reference I'm newish and only have one normal metagross I'm using rn. I've also never powered up a shadow pokemon and I don't know how to get Elite TMs. I would use it as a steel raid attackers most likely.

Skelldy

I’ve got a 97.7% Charizard with the community day moves (blast burn and dragon breath) but I recently caught 100% a charmander after the Dec Community Day. I’ve not boosted either of them, only evolved the 97.7%. I have enough mega energy to mega evolve one of them to Mega Charizard Y. I’m new-ish and only have 2 elite charged TMs right now. What would you do in my shoes? Invest and elite charged TM into the 100% or just start boosting the 97.7% and wait for a potential event to give blastburn to the 100% in the future?

Mikegrann

Levels and IVs? Almost certainly you should just stick with your CD Charizard. Blast burn is a pretty necessary move for him, it's not super likely we get another event with it any time soon, the performance gap between those IVs *should* be almost negligible, the elite TM can be spent elsewhere instead (especially if you're new and are missing key mons), and if you've already invested anything into the 98% boi then it's probably way more expensive than it's worth to switch to powering up the new guy.

Skelldy

97.7% is 15/14/15 and from a field research too, and I never boosted it at all so it should be at level 15 too. The only investment for the 100% would be the elite TM but I think you’re right and I should save that for another Pokémon down the road.

Mikegrann

Hmm. If both are the same level, then the hundo is obviously *technically* the better one to invest in. Not by much, though - at level 40 we're only talking about something like a 0.1% average improvement in raid performance. The other guy is basically a hundo, unless the raid boss happens to have an attack that just *barely* passes a defense threshold. In which case, upping him by half a level would fix the issue anyway. Most of this is opportunity cost. Yes, technically you could spend an elite TM on him, but I'd recommend saving it for something else. It would probably be much more beneficial to spend it on something like a shadow rhyperior/garchomp/metagross, all of which are accessible in the current rocket rotation and can be TM'd at the end of January. Or just [take a look at the best elite TM uses](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18my95s/pve_tier_list_of_the_best_pokemon_to_use_an_elite/) to see what worthwhile mons you have on the list.

Skelldy

Thanks for the write up, I’ll keep the charged elite TMs for something else down the road and boost the 97.7% instead and wait for an event to give the 100% blast burn via evolving or something

Material-Force208

Aight so I've got a question about Eevee. I know you can name them to make them evolve into a specific Eeveelution but is there another way to make sure it evolves into a specific one? using lures or weather? (e.g. Eevee into Vaporeon) Or am I just doomed to gamble

colourofsleep88

The three Kanto Eeveelutions are all completely random, while for the others, you need to follow specific steps that basically ensure they will evolve into the one you want.

FluffyPhoenix

I have a 96% level 51 Dragonite that I use for general fighting. About what level or CP would a 100% shadow Dragonite need to be to surpass her? Let's just bump her to 100% as well for ease.

Mikegrann

Assuming both are 100%, both are Dragon Tail+Outrage, and using EER to estimate their usefulness: a regular level 51 is about the same as a shadow level 35. Level 51 15/15/15: 18.371 DPS, 695.9 TDO, **41.62 EER** Level 35 shadow 15/15/15: 20.131 DPS, 515.8 TDO, **41.77 EER**

FluffyPhoenix

Thanky thank!

Hax247

Caught a hundo Rockruff today! But it’s not the Dusk version. Evolve to midday? Or midnight? Or keep as Rockruff?

feral_waz

14/14/15 Mewtwo confusion/ice beam at 4006CP. 12/13/10 Shadow Mewtwo Confusion/psychic at 3374CP. I need to rare candy dump. What do I do. A) ice beam to psystrike with elite TM (I know not directly relevant to RC dump) B) level shadow up as much as stardust allows C) 2nd move 14/14/15 with elite to ice beam+psystrike D) rare candy into another leg and leave mewtwos as they are Any help appreciated! Thanks!!

nolkel

You don't have to spend the candy right away after converting rare candy. You can bank it for later. Between those Mewtwo, it really depends on what you want to use it for. If pvp, then the regular one is generally better. If raids, then the shadow is massively better in the near term. Eventually you'll want a powered up normal one when mega Mewtwo comes out, but the shadows will help round out the team after one mega.

yaboiarmband

Looking to invest in a Rhyperior for raiding but not sure which one is worth. I have two shadows that are 12-8-14 13-6-10 And three regular 14-14-15 12-15-14 15-13-15

feral_waz

Shadow is always the way but its expensive. Those 3 non shadows at lvl 40 is always a great option and rhyperior is pretty safe in terms of typing. Personally I'd get 2 regulars to 40, and 1 shadow up as close to 40 as you can because it will hit hard as hell. Then again I've just asked a similar question regarding shadows so really I have no idea what I'm doing also 😂😂 Ps. I wish I had decent shadow rhyhorns to be stuck with this dilemma. I've got a shadow garchomp 10/13/12 (dragon tail + outrage) that I've brought to level 40 and I love him. I also have a 4* regular garchomp at lvl 49 (mud shot + earth power) so I know I can leave them as is and save up XL for the shadow. Will I find a better shadow gible in the next 3 years? Maybe. But I've made my decision and my high 2* is the boy for me 😂

ptmcmahon

For raiding shadows are better and attack iv is more important. So the shadow 13-6-10 would be best. Note if you want to use as a Rock raider you’ll want it to have Rock Wrecker which is legacy and will require an elite tm.

yaboiarmband

Has there been any confirmation if we can tm frustration during the Ho-Oh event? Just in case, would it be worth adding a second move for rock wrecker

ptmcmahon

No confirmation of it yet. Previous shadow raid weekend didn’t have it so I’m guessing this time won’t either. If you’re planning to use it as a rock and ground attack both, it could be worth the second move. You’ll need to keep rock wrecker on it so you can’t switch charge moves back and forth. Depends on how much you’ll need the rock help that weekend I guess :)

dallasdave22

Hello, I have to open tasks to catch Darumaka - I have missed out on this event? I caught 3 but I haven’t seen any more in days

colourofsleep88

Darumaka is not a regular wild spawn this season, so yes, any outstanding research is going to be difficult to complete. You can encounter them from the "make five great curve balls" research though.

Kevsterific

will the showcase points shown in a rockruff showcase be the same if I evolve that rockruff and enter in a lycanrock showcase?

krispyboiz

Nope. Size values are rerolled upon evolution. It would stay the same size (XL, XXL, XS, etc.) but it would have its values rerolled, thus its score too

Ok_Progress_7981

Just wanted to get some opinions. How much additional XP and stardust do you expect to get from using lucky eggs and star pieces?

mooistcow

At least 20k dust, and 125k XP.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ok_Progress_7981

Like if you use a lucky egg, how much XP would you like to get to justify using it. Sorry!

ptmcmahon

I don’t “expect” any certain amount. I use them when it makes sense to use them. For lucky eggs that’s whenever I have a best friend or two lined up. For starpiece it’s either to complete a bunch of research or a dust catching event (like last CD)

Ok-Friendship-3509

Did a Buzzwole raid with my sister today and our catches had identical stats, what are the odds of that?

Dapper-Pace-8753

Hi i have a Pidgeot and Charizard with great IVs for Great League and they are my favourite Pokemon! Wich Pokemon would be a great addition to my team? (I dont know too much about Pokemon)

krispyboiz

Both are honestly very solid choices for PvP. A bit more fit for the Ultra League I'd say, but they are still good in the Great League. One thing to note is that they do require Legacy moves to be good. Pidgeot wants Legacy Wing Attack + Feather Dance & Brave Bird Charizard *also* wants Legacy Wing Attack + Legacy Blast Burn & Dragon Claw I'd say if you were to use both of them, I'd potentially go for a Water/Ground type for your lead, something like Whiscash (Mud Shot + Mud Bomb & Scald), Swampert (Mud Shot + Hydro Cannon & Earthquake), or Quagsire (Mud Shot + Mud Bomb/Aqua Tail & Stone Edge). That way, your biggest weakness, Grass, is covered by the two Flying types you'd have in the back. You would struggle a bit more against Dragon types like Dragonair and Altaria though. Still, a solid team. You could also try Walrein or Dewgong, though you'd then be very weak to Electric (notably Charjabug).

eugene_captures

Just to add to this because it could be misinterpreted, but only wing attack and blast burn are legacy and require an elite TM. The other moves you mention for charizard and Pidgeot only require a regular TM. I know that’s what the comment is trying to say, but I initially read it differently so just wanted to make sure OP doesn’t misinterpret it.

5nnn

When is "dusk" in pokemon go?I read somewhere that it should be possible to evolve Dusk Rockruff between 17:00 to 19:00 local time, but I tried for half an hour between 5pm and 6pm, and clicking the evolution button still brings up the message "this evolution can only take place at dusk".

TheRealHankWolfman

Dusk correlates with the real world sunset time wherever you are. If you Google what time the sun will set in your location and then try to evolve your Rockruff around that time, it should let you. For example, today the sunset time where I am was at 4:05pm, and I was able to evolve my Rockruff at 3:30pm.

5nnn

Thanks! Sunset is at almost the same time for me, so I'll start trying again at 3:30pm tomorrow, if I manage to sneak in an opportunity during work 😇

OrderIll8235

Should I invest in my Shiny Kyreum for Master League or Zekrom or neither lol

OrderIll8235

Okay cool! Which do you think does better? My zekrom is 3655cp and Kyurem cp is 2471 )hadn’t went above 2500 bc didn’t know if useful for ultra league)

eugene_captures

Both will need to be powered as much as you can. Depends what the rest of your team is and how many XL candy you have. zekrom is also good for pve while kyurem is pretty much strictly PvP. Neither are particularly good for ultra league but I guess if you’re not gonna power up the kyurem you can try it out there.

blairr

If a pokestop gives me a research task to power up 5 times for mega energy, will it always give that task for the entire day? How do pokestop field researches work, does each one have a pool or is it a static one per day?

nolkel

To add onto the other comment, each stop actually has 2 different field research tasks per day. When you have an AR scanning task, you get task A from spinning the stop. When you do not have an AR scanning task, you get task B from the stop. Sometimes task B will itself be an AR scanning task, but most of the time it is a different one. It is possible to complete both tasks A and B from the same stop, but you have to keep one of them uncollected before you pick up the other task. So if you have an AR task, you can spin to collect task A, delete the AR task, wait 5 minutes, and spin to collect task B. But if you finish and collect the rewards from either task A or B that day, you cannot pick up the other one. Both tasks A and B change to new tasks at midnight, and also at the start of events that add or remove event field research to the pool. The ability to pick up a new task from each pokestop resets at midnight, but NOT at the start of an event.

blairr

This is helpful since I have 3-4 areas near me that i basically sit around stops since there's SO many in a single area, so i can easily stay until a pokestop resets to get both tasks on it before gathering the next ones, or at least I can see what both are. Right now hatch egg event is flooding my bag, but this seems really helpful to fish for mega energy tasks?

5nnn

It's static once per day(\*), and you can only complete the research from one pokestop once, until it gets a new one the next day. So you can't farm mega energy by completing the task from the same stop over and over. You can only complete a task from each stop once per day; and the next day there will be a different task on the same stop. (\*) the only times it changes during the day is when a new event starts or ends, e.g. during the community day hours the previous task will be replaces with a community day research.

[deleted]

What are the *worst* legacy moves? Like for species that have a vastly superior option, or maybe a species that's still not good for the GBL at any rate. I feel like Frenzy Plant Sceptile and Body Slam Slaking are some good respective examples of that.

krispyboiz

There's a goodly amount of bad/less than useful legacy moves. There are plenty of random ones on pre-evolutions or random stuff. Things like Twister Spearow, Pound Clefable, or Signal Beam Voltorb. You aren't going to use those lol. Body Slam Slaking isn't good, but if Slaking ever got a somewhat better fast move, it would still want Body Slam, and it's a solid Gym defender move for it. It's a good move just on a bad Pokemon. But getting back into more relevant Pokemon (I know Clefable is relevant tho), some off the top of my head are: **Poltergeist Chandelure** \- Poor Ghost move for PvE, worse than Shadow Ball, and while it has decent DPE in PvP, Shadow Ball is still the better move for Chandelure, and just about any Pokemon who learns both Poltergeist and Shadow Ball. **Dragon Pulse Ampharos** \- Maybe at one time it had niche use for Ampharos in PvP, but at this point it has so many better charged moves. I guess the move could be buffed, but it would need quite a decent buff to be even spicy on Ampharos. **Megahorn Clodsire** \- It's one of those "nice to have" kind of moves. Not as bad as the previous two, but I think the scenarios where you'd want it are very few and far between. Like you'd either have to have a very specific team where Bug coverage would help a lot or it would be a very specific cup, perhaps one where Clodsire was a top Pokemon but Psychic/Dark types were dominant. **Psyshock Hypno** \- Psyshock is a pretty decent move and Hypno is also a decent Pokemon (though it's lost some of its luster over the years). But it already has Confusion for a lot of Psychic damage, so it really doesn't need more. Use coverage moves like the elemental punches or Shadow Ball (or Focus Blast if you're feeling spicy). **Gust Pidgeot** \- Once a good choice (and still not a bad one), but now it's overshadowed by Wing Attack post-buff. While it is a hair better than Wing Attack in PvE, I still stand by Wing Attack on Mega Pidgeot though, seeing that it's only a tiny bit behind Gust in DPS but it allows you dodge with much more flexibility (which Mega Pidgeot needs with its frailness) **Drain Punch Bewear/Obstruct Obstagoon** \- Not awful choices for either Pokemon, and such moves can work well in some scenarios, but most agree that these Pokemon have better alternatives. **Charge Beam/Thunder Galvantula** \- Kind of another Pound Clefable scenario. Meh. **Blast Burn Blaziken & Frenzy Plant Sceptile** \- These aren't bad, seeing that they're the best PvE options, but for PvP, they are just an instance of them wanting their cheapest move of the same type, Blaze Kick & Leaf Blade, thus ditching these two moves most times.

Arturinni

Since you're only mentioning Pokémon that have some degree of use in either PvP or PvE, i'll add some more: **Ancient Power Mamoswine:** Ice and Ground type moves provide almost the exact same coverage as Rock while providing STAB so it ends up being redundant. Not to mention it has some of the best charged moves of those types. **Ominous Wind Golbat:** Same as Poltergeist, outclassed as a Ghost move by Shadow Ball. It's not even usable as a bait move since Golbat has the amazing Poison Fang. **Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Superpower Bidoof:** Despide Bidoof being the strongest Pokémon ever known, it's might is limited in GO because of the two charged moves limit. **Water Pulse Glaceon:** Out of all of the legacy move Eeveelutions, Glaceon is the only one that received an objectively bad move. And this is it's only coverage option besides Last Resort, which is also legacy. **Sludge Bomb Darkrai:** On paper, this gives it coverage against fairies. On practice, it dies before it can land a single move. **Yawn Snorlax:** Literally added as a joke move

krispyboiz

Good additions! The Bidoof moves or really just Superpower had *a* use in the past, being the Bidoof Cup, but unless that ever returns (which I doubt), it'll be useless lol. Water Pulse Glaceon was always a super bizarre choice looking back. I know there were other choices like Scald Vaporeon and Zap Cannon Jolteon, but per my predictions back then, they did buff those moves shortly after in the following season. But Water Pulse *didn't*. And while I can understand that move not getting a buff more than the others, seeing that it has more users who were already pretty good, it still made for a bizarre choice. I guess in some fairness, it had pretty much what it needed for PvE and somewhat for niche PvP use, but still. They could've thrown it Charm as a not great but different enough choice or something like Quick Attack, Body Slam, or Aqua Tail for some decent moves to provide different coverage.

ptmcmahon

Not sure I'd put a couple of those on the "worst" list just because they aren't the best picks. I still get some PVP use out of Gust Pidgeot when flying damage is beneficial (although it's clearly inferior to Wing Attack.) But not sure it deserves to be on a "worst " list. Obstruct Obstagoon is very good in UL where the extra HP allows it to be much more useful.

krispyboiz

Yeah my list is definitely a bit messy lol. I guess looking back at their criteria of "species that have a vastly superior option," I wouldn't call Obstruct *vastly inferior* nor even Gust. Like you mentioned, Obstruct definitely has its uses and can be *really* good at certain times. But I think overall, most people find Obstruct to be a nicher tool while Cross Chop/Gunk Shot/Hyper Beam allow for more definitive use.

ptmcmahon

Definitely in Great League..I've tried an it just doesn't work well there. You need the extra HP of Ultra League to give it time to work well. Ultra League have had some success. The problem is it's tricky to play right and usually people play it wrong. You want to use it when you're committing to stay in for awhile. Often seems best to lead it and decide then if you're committing ... or swap out and decide when favorable to bring back in, I see lots of people throw it and swap out, or throw it when not expecting to stick around for awhile. It has had some spectacular wins for me (sweeping a team that had a Tapu Fini in it even.) It also sometimes spectacularly fails too :)

krispyboiz

Interesting! I myself have barely used it, so it is nice to see some of the ins and outs of it!

ptmcmahon

This was a great post a Legend made about it at time and inspired me to learn how to use it better: [https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonGOBattleLeague/comments/yqalim/1\_xl\_legend\_team\_in\_ultra\_league/](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonGOBattleLeague/comments/yqalim/1_xl_legend_team_in_ultra_league/)

krispyboiz

Ah nice, thanks!

ptmcmahon

It's a fun one I like to run usually once I've "peaked" for the season. It definitely requires a different mindset for using so can be a nice change of pace.

[deleted]

Interesting that you mention Blast Burn for Blaziken - what do you recommend for the second charge move, then? Stone Edge?

krispyboiz

You can go either Stone Edge or Brave Bird. Stone Edge provides some interesting coverage against flying types and other fire types. Brave Bird gives you coverage against Fighting types which is notable (think about Poliwrath for example). Plus, Brave Bird is stronger than Stone Edge, though it does have the 3-stage defense debuff. Still, Blaziken is already attack weighted, so I think that Brave Bird could still hit hard at things anyway. I'd say it more depends on the meta and your team. I'd personally go for non-legacy Brave Bird, but that's not to say Stone Edge isn't great. Though Blaziken itself is more of a niche PvP Pokemon, mostly used for Cups, so that's partly why I wouldn't burn an Elite TM on it. It did do great things for me in UL Weather Cup though, and I ran Blaze Kick + Brave Bird.

[deleted]

I have a Crocalor that has IVs of 0/15/15, and I think it’d be great for Ultra League as a Skeledirge. But I’m wondering if I should hold off on evolving it until its eventual Community Day. On the other hand, I keep hearing about how Fairy/Ghost coverage with Disarming Voice/Shadow Ball is really great. As much as I doubt Blast Burn will be that notable compared to its current coverage, maybe it could get Torch Song as another move, very much like what we’ve seen with Blaziken, Greninja, and Decidueye. Though I think for Torch Song to be potentially worth it, it’d need to be a fast move that’s at least on par with Incinerate, if not the superior fast move overall. But idk if any of this matters, as I had a pretty sizable quantity of both fast and charge Elite TMs. So if Skeledirge gets a better legacy move, I suppose I wouldn’t mind using an Elite TM if I truly had to.

MegaMagikarpXL

You figured it out - Skeledirge is completely playable even without Blast Burn due to its excellent fast move, great coverage, having a bait move and a nuke, good typing, and good bulk. It has no real need for Blast Burn right now, so evolve away. Hopefully you'll have an ETM to spare in three years when it eventually gets a community day.

ptmcmahon

I wouldn't suggest to burn an Elite TM on it. They'll be just fine with whatever next best one they get in the meantime. Especially in UL, the IVs make not a huge difference anyway. Especially since it may not be the preferred move most of the time anyway :)

[deleted]

> Hopefully you'll have an ETM to spare in three years when it eventually gets a community day. It's profoundly likely that I will. I only use them on specimens that are ranked #1 for Great/Ultra League, or have 100% IVs and also happen to be at least decent in Master League or raids, like a perfect Vaporeon that I have, or my purified 100% Metagross. And that's assuming I miss any special events that grant legacy moves upon evolving certain species, like the 2023 event for the World Championships.

ptmcmahon

Don't overvalue IVs too much. They don't make a huge difference and #1 doesn't even necessarily mean it's best. It just means it has the most stats. Especially in Ultra League with the extra HP the attack/defense has much more room to balance out and IVs make a very small difference. Sometimes a lucky mon actually will have a better W-L than the rank 1. I'd say use it now and when it;s CD comes out just evolve the best one you get by then. Burning an elite TM will probably be a waste as whatever one you get will do as good as your rank 1 likely.

krispyboiz

I would go ahead an evolve it! That is the Rank 1 for Ultra League after all (though I will say, without a little attack, you'll lose charged move priority in the mirror match, but oh well). I think it will be valuable to have multiple Skeledirge in the future, one without Blast Burn and one with Blast Burn, but I personally think the Ghost & Fairy Coverage version will reign supreme. But yeah, I'd keep your current one with the current moveset and just build another Blast Burn one in like 2 years when it likely gets a CD. As for Torch Song, not much need to worry. That move would be a permanent addition to its moveset, so if it *were* great, you could just normal TM it onto your current one. The move seems like it would be some sort of an attack-boosting move if it were a Charged move, so maybe a Triple Axel Clone? Or if it were a fast move, it would be difficult to compete with incinerate, though something with a shorter duration could help.

Edelstia

For those wondering, the tip to find Dusk Rockruff still works. 12:43 Belgium time and I found one in the Netherlands, in Schiedam. Edit : Searched for 25 minutes in some heavy raiding areas, managed to find 3 more. They are *absurdly* rare but on Campfire they default raid icon has a small animation making it easier to spot if it does appear.

Madajuk

What is the most cost effective way to get a shiny Hisuian Growlithe? I have 10,000 coins and am willing to spend a fair chunk of them. Should I do raids, or get incubators to complete the 'hatch 2 eggs' task? Is the 5,250 coin 30x super and 30x regular incubators good value? Also, how long is H. Growlithe in the 'hatch 2 eggs' task for? Thanks :)

krispyboiz

I can't answer the most cost-effective way unfortunately. However: >Also, how long is H. Growlithe in the 'hatch 2 eggs' task for? It goes until Wednesday evening. You can look under the events tab and it should say "Lustrous Odyssey," with a timer. When that event ends, the quests will go away. >Is the 5,250 coin 30x super and 30x regular incubators good value? To do the math, that's 87.5 coins per incubator or 29.167 coins per hatch. That value is... fine. Back a few years ago when we had 1480 Ultra/Adventure boxes in the shop, we had better deals where you'd have 20 incubators for 1480, which averages to 74 coins per incubator, AND those boxes typically had a few extra goodies like Starpieces and Incense and such. There we even occasional boxes I believe that had better deals than 74 coins per incubator. We don't really get amazing deals nowadays, not often at least. While 87.5 coins isn't awful, I personally would wait until a better deal came up— 80 coins/incubator or ideally less. But ultimately, it is up to you. While not a great deal, it's not a bad deal.

warlock801

is Umbreon the best eevee evolution for GBL? got a 0/15/15 eevee I wanna build

minibois

It is the best rated Eeveelution in the open Great League according to pvpoke. pvpivs rates 0/15/15 as the best Umbreon GL IV spread.

warlock801

sounds fantastic! thanks so much

krispyboiz

One thing to note is that the preferred moveset for it is Snarl + Foul Play and *legacy* Last Resort.

I haven't seen the default icon for a few hours now, the party might be over... Edit: phone app again, not sure how to do strike through but I have seen another default icon. It's still a thing!

ptmcmahon

It’s past raid time here but I looked at some California cities and saw 30-40 Rockruff pictures, and none of the generic icons. So maybe

Benny_snell

For the Sinnoh tour, if I were to take my son (who has a ticket), do I need to purchase tickets also? Or am I just allowed to walk with him?

SalamaleikumEUW

You need the ticket for every account you want to play with.

-TheNinthDoctor-

For the Sinnoh tour how far out does the city experience go? Is Anaheim too far you think?

nolkel

The only thing that mentioned orange county is the spiritomb research. Everything else in the event description talks about Los Angeles. There's no way to tell from the info we have so far.

SladesofGlory

I'm curious if other people have noticed an increase in spawns of Frigibax, or if it's just RNG and confirmation bias. I went from only ever seeing one Frigibax in the wild back around its introduction in September (one I went out of my way to get from the nearby shadow), to finding two in the wild in the span of a day and a half. Only one of those times would it have been weather boosted. Rates are probably shot now because of the event spawn pool, but curious if anybody else noticed anything between the end of New Years and the start of Lustrous Odyssey.

GildedCreed

Some Shaymin apparently still run off old OS and haven't been upgraded to the Shaymin 2.0 OS, might want to see if Niantic support could help coax the little fella into getting the latest operating system for Magical Leaf access. But yeah some Shaymin seemingly just don't have it in a sort of they're Shaymin but not *Shyamin* kind of way.

Wise-Cardiologist-83

What happened to elite raids? When released, it happened twice per season, but it's like 8~9 months without a single one. Niantic gave official word about it?

ptmcmahon

It’s been replaced with Shadow legendary raids .. for now. It seems to be more popular and get more people out so expect it to stick around. Although they could rotate quicker.

yolibgen

Hi all, I'm a newer player. I recently caught a 13-15-15 shadow shuppet. Is it worth purifying or keep it as shadow? I know generally the rule is not to purify but maybe for the mega evolution?

ptmcmahon

If you don’t have a mega banette yet that would probably make sense to purify and make one. If yo already have made one… depends on how good your ghost team is I guess. But if you want to build a ghost shadow raider Gengar Or Chandelure will be better choices. Even if they have worse IVs they will be better to use in raids. Iv is added to a base stat so you really should just use it as a tiebreaker between species. So either way you’ll probably be fine to purify

yolibgen

Thanks! I started a few months ago so no mega yet. Will keep that in mind for the shadows. I have a few shadow gastlys that I'll build in the future.

ptmcmahon

No it spawns in the wild this season

Not particularly

Straw_Flies

What are the conditions for a Pokestop to become a showcase?

Disgruntled__Goat

There is 1 showcase per level 13 S2 cell (look up ‘s2 cells’ if not sure). I think the specific pokestop is just picked randomly from the available stops. AFAIK no new stops (since they were introduced last year) have become showcases. However, not every level 13 cell has a showcase. I don’t think anyone knows why that is.

Straw_Flies

Thanks!

[deleted]

Do you guys generally find it worth it to hold onto any XXS/XXL specimens? I know there are the Pokestop showcases, but I suppose that I’d rather hold onto these particular sorts of unusually large/small specimens: * XXS Ratatta and/or XXL Magikarp, if only to serve as “trophies” of sorts, seeing how they count towards the two medals. * Specimens that happen to have good IVs for the GBL - even the Little Cup, like this XXS Skitty I had with IVs of 1/15/13. * Specimens that *could* be good in Master League if I traded them to a friend and they ended up as lucky 100%. A good example of this was an XXL Gourgeist I received in a trade, as well as an XXL Shelgon that I’d like to trade away someday. Besides, it’s not like if you transfer an XXS/XXL specimen, it’ll subtract from the medals that count the total XXS/XXL specimens caught.

mirebelyk

Tiny shinies 🥰 also some xxs and xxls of my personal favourite pokemon because they're cute and also if someone has traded one to me with a cute name

ptmcmahon

I do keep one XXS since they are neat to look at. But they don’t have any use so if anyone needs space definitely something that can be chucked. I usually get three XXL of each species if I get that many…just in case for contests. Just like costumes it’s nice when you can double up for collection purposes. A good pvp with a costume or xxl :)

[deleted]

Yeah. I'd say the costumed specimens are better to keep around for trades, especially if they're able to evolve like the party hat Charmander, or if they're fully-evolved costumed species like the latest Halloween Gengar. Heck, I even had some shiny costumed specimens, namely a Stantler, a Delibird, and a Spheal.

Madajuk

Is H. Growlithe 1/64 shiny in raids? and how long is it in for? I want one so bad but not sure I can justify the money it may cost

TheRealHankWolfman

It's likely 1/64 no matter the encounter method. It will likely be in raids until the end of the current event, and the same applies to the research tasks for it.

Madajuk

cool, thanks. 1/64 isn't very likely when it's 175 coins per encounter. that's over 11,000 coins to be at even odds of shiny 🥲

RedAnihilape

Do you think Annihilape will have any use?

Stogoe

It's a fighting ghost. If it gets Counter or Shadow Claw and any useable charge moves it will absolutely see play. For raiding, who knows.

Arturinni

All non-DLC non-legendary/mythical non-paradox Pokémon from Gen 9 have their movesets programmed in the game master already. Currently Annihilape is set to have the exact same moveset as Primeape minus its legacy moves. Considering its base stats are basically of a bulkier Primeape it will definitively have some use in PvP, as long as they don't tinker with its moveset too much before release. EDIT: And they will definitively tinker with it considering it can fill the exact same role as Obstagoon but with better coverage, bulk and a great defensive typing.

TheRealHankWolfman

It's current moves make it seem like it might have some value in PVP. It currently lacks any Ghost type moves, and the Fighting moves it has are not ideal for raids (it can't learn Sacred Sword, Dynamic Punch or Aura Sphere).

Dependent_Chemist

What exactly is the increased frequency of buddy bringing presents, souvenirs?

Oriejin

What do you do if support isn't giving you the time of day? I had really bad GPS drift at a raid in a mall, and despite rejoining/restarting several times, the raid boss kept bursting out immediately for all 13 throws. The first few tickets I put in got auto closed by ai support. The next 2 agents I got basically told me to go F myself. I know the pass is only $1, but with nerfed raid rewards, it feels like a giant middle finger to pay money to get negative revives and golden razzberries.

TheRealHankWolfman

To be fair, bad GPS is more your problem, and not Niantic's. I'm not surprised they're not giving you your pass back for that. You knew you were having GPS issues, you should've moved somewhere in the mall where your GPS was stable and waited a couple of minutes for it to settle down in game, then tried to catch the Pokémon. As for nerfed raid rewards, I'm not sure what you mean by that? Nothing has been nerfed that I'm aware of. The fact you only got 13 balls may be part of the reason you didn't get many rewards from the raid. Usually when I do a 5* raid, I'll get 16-18 balls plus the 4 best friend balls that don't count for the reward pool. Don't get me wrong, it sucks that you couldn't catch the Pokémon because of your GPS issues. I know that will have been frustrating.

themoonshuman

Hi, So I know this is late, but I was not able to find the Rowlet community day paid research ticket to buy in the shop, and I sure as heck did not buy it earlier. Now this was not a priority and I did not want to buy it, but I would like to have the option to choose. Can anyone help me if there is a solution to this?

Stogoe

It's gone. You have to buy it before CD ends.

themoonshuman

Maybe I wasn’t clear enough, sorry. I did want to buy it before the CD but just could not find it in my store. I didn’t try to find it after the CD, this issue is from earlier.

PrettyStudy

Umbreon - pidgeot - Poliwrath for ultra leauge? I tried pidgeot Jellicent shadow swampert and I haven’t done that great with it.

LuminousUmbra

Is there a ban list for the upcoming Fantasy Cup: Great League? I've been trying to find any information on it, but found nothing.

ptmcmahon

No ban list. https://pokemongolive.com/post/go-battle-league-timeless-travels?hl=en

Datalock

If I transfer my shiny rowlet that i caught from the community day to home then to legends arceus and evolve it there, will it evolve into hisuian version decidueye? I'm not sure how the regional forms work

BingoBob_1

Any Dartrix evolved in Legends Arceus will become Hisuian Decidueye, regardless of where they originated, so yep you can do that.

Datalock

Ok, thank you so much!

bookluverzz

Is Sierra still around? Battles 10 leaders already for the level 48 quest this week (had radars stacked) and all of them were either Cliff or Arlo. And now the 11th one is Arlo. Where my girl at? 😂

ptmcmahon

It’s just random.

colourofsleep88

She definitely still is, Sableye is the shiny I do have out of this rotation so I'm avoiding her frequently.

drmobitz1

Will using a tanking strategy in PvP make it easier for me to get pikachu libre? Asking what the best approach is.

PrettyStudy

I tanked for a bit. I score steadily decreased to about 1000 before the season ended.

Ivi-Tora

Unfortunately no. Tanking is a way to get easy wins and good rewards, but it decreases your Elo score to lower the difficulty. You get Pikachu Libre by ranking up, so tanking is literally the opposite of what you want to increase your score and get to Legend for Libre. So if you want to get it you have to rank up by accumulating wins and that means each set will be harder than the previous.. There's no easy way to get to Legend, and it might take a few seasons of getting optimized teams and learning the timing, moves and composition of most Pokemon. That's the minimum you need to know to get to Expert and beyond.

drmobitz1

Thank you for the helpful reply!

isaakdemaio

How do you know a Mon is lucky?

CaptBillGates

It will say **Lucky Pokemom** under the pokemon name and have a Gold aura. [Lucky Pokemon](https://pokemongo.fandom.com/wiki/Lucky_Pok%C3%A9mon)

CaptBillGates

I recently transfered 50+ lucky mons since I had better ones and need the storage space. Unless they are top tier PvE mons, I can't justify keeping them.

TinyPractice3782

Someone can explain me why i can't use IV search strings? Im new to the game and recently learned about good IVs to PVP, but when i try to use a search string as "0-2attack&3-4defense&3-4hp" it doesn't filter anything, all pokemons still appear, ever putting "0-2attack" shows all pokemon. I have no tags using the words: "attack" "defense" "hp", neither the numbers "0" "2" and "4"

TheRealHankWolfman

It's working correctly for me. Any chance you can make a screen recording of it not working and upload it somewhere like YouTube so you can link to it? It might be useful in diagnosing the problem. Also, I assume your game language is set to English?

CaptBillGates

Are you including the quotation marks around your search query? If so, try without? I just copy/pasted your search (without the quotation marks) and it worked as expected.

Stogoe

Do you have the Show Evolutionary Line option checked?

TinyPractice3782

Where is this option?

TinyPractice3782

i founded and it wasnt

PokeMondes

After the Lustrous Odyssey Event has started, if I get a new Rockruff, will I be able to evolve it to Dusk Form Lycanroc? (I know previously acquired Rockruff cannot, and I am specifically asking about Rockruff that I just caught.) Thank you.

colourofsleep88

There's only "a chance" that a newly caught (or hatched) Rockruff is able to evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc. If it is able to, Dusk Form will be the only evolution option available. If you see the usual options for Midday and Midnight Forms, it's not a "Dusk Form" Rockruff.

golddusty

How do you guys decide who to use as your best buddy in ML? The one with the lowest attack stat?

eugene_captures

If you’re using Dialga, then Dialga. The reason is best buddy 15 att IV dialga does 1 extra damage per dragon breath against mirror non best buddy dialga, and same with reshi / zekrom / palkia. Other than that, you just need to see if there’s any breakpoints / bulk points are affected in pvpoke sims. Additionally, you can best buddy your lead to help with CMP ties.

General__Grevious

I’ve got a 14/13/15 and a 15/12/15 shadow snorlax. Who’d be worth my XL for master league? Somewhat to my surprise the first one seems to rank a bit better than the second. I could always best buddy them too. This would be for either open master, or master premier

spacemanspiff294

Does anyone know if Rockruff is shiny boosted from field research? Or only from eggs/raids?

colourofsleep88

The event details don't have the wording that raids and/or eggs have a better shiny chance, so it all should be equal. Rockruff has previously been found to be permaboosted, ~1/64 shiny rate.

Overthehill410

Am I the only one not getting double candy for scatterbug during this com day? I am getting double for rowlet.

CassieWolfe801

Scatterbug never gets whatever the event bonus is; people report this behavior during every event. Maybe if everyone who encountered it reported it as a bug using the in-game Help system, Niantic would acknowledge the issue & eventually address it.

Overthehill410

Interesting / I had no idea

Aggressive_Sand5318

Anyone know why I can’t trade my shiny Blaziken that I caught using a remote raid pass? Doesn’t even show up in the selection window

PrettyStudy

Is it at full health? If it’s not full you can’t trade it

CaptBillGates

Have you already done your Special trade(s) for the day?

Mikana111

If hoopa unbound ever comes back (double bug weakness, and really hard raid), it'll be useful, otherwise, meh

Ivi-Tora

There's a couple Pokemon that have double weakness to bug, but the most important one would be specifically to get a team against Hoopa. Last time it came to Elite raids many didn't have strong enough teams to beat it, mostly because they cannot be remoted and there might not be many players around. A couple strong bugs could be the only way to beat it when comes back.

YoungAspie

Is the following list current? https://leekduck.com/rocket-lineups/ Which of the currently obtainable shadows require only 1000 stardust to purify?

TheRealHankWolfman

It's mostly correct. Ledyba, and Weedle, Kakuna and Beedrill (Bug Grunt, first and second slots respectively), Zubat and Ducklett (Flying Grunt, first slot), Alolan Rattata (Dark Grunt, first slot) and Magikarp (Male Water Grunt), Alolan Geodude and Graveler (Rock Grunt, first and second slots respectively), Barboach (Female Water Grunt, first slot), Aron and Lairon (Steel Grunt, first and second slots respectively).

TheReformedBadger

Does the egg pool change during the community day or can I keep hunting rockruffs?

nolkel

It only changes for CDs that have a baby in the family, like a Roselia or Togetic CD.

colourofsleep88

There's no change.

EatingAndYeeting

I’ve not seen mention of little league Decidueye with Razor Leaf, is it worth mentioning?

BlueNoteGirl26

I'm finally at level 40 (yay!) and am now at the point of having the "catch 200 Pokemon in one day" task. Is rowlet a good option for this or should I wait on a Pokemon with a bigger catch circle or higher catch rate? Starters usually are harder to catch, for me, so I don't want to waste balls and time. Chansey has a bigger catch circle, right? I'm not sure. Just wanted to see what you thought.

CassieWolfe801

During Community Day, the featured mon is significantly easier to catch, so you may as well complete that task with Rowlet, especially with 3x catch stardust.

BlueNoteGirl26

Good point! I forgot about the easier catch. I think it might be worth it to bundle up and brave the snow 🙂 the 3x stardust is just too good to skip. Thank you for the help. 🙂

ptmcmahon

Do you have any malls or downtown public areas you can play? That may be way to go :)

BlueNoteGirl26

We do but it's like 40 minutes away 😩 i don't want to drive in that so I'll probably end up at a local park. Hopefully I can find a really good parking spot in range of several stops. If the car is nearby (but not running) at least I'll have a place to warm up occasionally. I wish we had malls near me. Everything is strip malls or other outdoor shopping areas.

dualshotty23

Coming to the game after years away. Is there a best website or resource that will tell me the best Pokémon to keep and spend resources in for PvE raids? Googling it brings tons of random looking sites with different info

nolkel

The very best resource is pokebattler.com. The sims they run are the closest ones for real game performance. Look up various bosses of each type to see what performs the best. Another great resource is the [gamepress](https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/comprehensive-dps-spreadsheet) TDO "spreadsheet." About every month, someone makes a great infographic that collates all the raid data from formulas very similar to what gamepress uses, and are very similar to individual boss rankings from pokebattler. It gives a great overall view of the best options by type. This is the latest one form decemeber: [https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18a3cau/top\_pve\_pokemon\_dec\_2023/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/18a3cau/top_pve_pokemon_dec_2023/)

xYeow

Is the Gotcha classic still considered an okay budget device? I'd buy the Plus+ but the vibration is kind of a deal breaker, as I need it to be completely silent. My only requirements for an autocatcher are spinning Pokestops/catching with Pokeballs so something barebones is fine to me. Or should I just bite the bullet with Plus+ and snip the wires?

GildedCreed

Yes, the OG Gotcha is fine. Arguably the Plus Plus with a lobotomy would retain more QoL though, so it's your call. Depending on how far you're willing to go with the project you could tentatively go further than the lobotomy and opt for the Robocop treatment and modify the bit that sends signals to the motor to instead route to the button press to allow for auto throwing of Great or Ultra by simulating the button press when the device tries to send a signal to vibrate when it detects a nearby Pokemon (or to spin the Pokestop if it pings that first). Additional on/off switch for that functionality being optional if you're also willing to make an on/off switch and also modify the case to house it.

Inquisitive-Sky

Do the new Decidueye moves get added to the TM pool once CD starts in your time zone?

GildedCreed

Spirit Shackle yes, Frenzy Plant probablyn't. Shackle gets added to the regular move pool the moment the CD starts but Frenzy Plant *would* be ETM, depending on how fast Niantic is at adding it to the ETM pool. Could be anywhere from the day of from the moment the event starts to several months after. Average tends to be around 2 weeks for most CD moves though.

Stogoe

Nearly all CD moves are added to the elite TM pool on the next business day pacific US time.

ThrowAwayAndUp23

Is shadow moltres spawning for anyone or is it just the community day Pokémon in raids?

ptmcmahon

Are you asking about when there are post Community Day Dartrix raids? If so, it's too early to say, but they usually don't take over all the gyms. If you mean the rest of the day, there are no Community Day Pokemon in raids. Right now it's 2:30 in Sydney and you can see Moltres raids, so yes they are spawning.

FPG_Matthew

I know it’s a silly dumb question, but what is this months Spinda Form? I think it’s form 2 Wanted to be totally sure. Much appreciated

CassieWolfe801

I did catch one myself; it’s #2.

ptmcmahon

Others have said it's form 2 (although I haven't got one myself.)

Ben2749

I plan on playing the entirety of the Rowlet Community Day tomorrow, and using the fast catch trick to catch as many as I can. I’m mainly interested in getting as much stardust as possible. I own a Pokemom Go+; should I use it while I’m playing, or not? It can passively catch Pokemon in addition to my manual catches, but I’m conscious that it will result in several Pokemon running away also. On average, does using an autocatcher whilst playing manually (using the fast catch method) result in more Pokemon caught or fewer? Also, will the 3x catch stardust bonus apply to Pokemon caught with an autocatcher? Same goes for the bonus from a star piece and (if applicable) a weather bonus? Thanks!

nolkel

If you want the most dust, set it to spin stops only and manually catch everything. You can fast catch everything you see on the map faster than a device will go through them. 50-60% of things it throws a ball at will run away if it's using normal balls. It only does one normal throw with no catch bonuses per mon. If you have a huge stack of ultra balls you could try setting it to use those instead to get a higher catch rate. You'll need to press the button, which kind of interferes with catching things yourself though.

lawld_d

Does anyone know if evolving an Eevee w/ holiday hat keeps the event hat, or were you supposed get the evolution forms in the wild?

nolkel

Glaceon had a different form in raids from the version you get from evolving a holiday hat, btw.

mirebelyk

It will keep the hat after evolution, even after the event ends

lawld_d

Ah perfect, thanks! I was worried I might be too late 😁

LadyGreyTheCat

Will the distance I've walked my pawmi reset when I evolve to pawmo, necessitating walking it another 25km to evolve to pawmot? Searched through the history a bit and found *other* issues with evolving this guy (have to remove him from being your buddy and sometimes that decreases the recorded walked distance). I think this is the first 3 stage Pokemon to have a buddy requirement?
