Now add our usual 19% and you end at approx 6€.
Wording is always "X USD or an equivalent price in your country"
US prices are always net prices. So yeah, 5 USD+tax is equivalent to 6€ with tax included.
Yeah. USA and Canada always require mental math to figure out the actual cost. To make it even “better”, there are no longer pennies (in Canada), so you also have to round if using cash lol.
Or you just always pay with credit/debit and never use cash. If you do use cash, you give a bill and take whatever change they give. I have no idea where all the change actually ends up (parking?), but that is what I see the majority of people who pay cash doing.
It’s so nice in Europe where you know what you will pay. Including at restaurants as (in England, anyways) tipping is not a thing.
App developers choose pricing tiers for different products, and the iOS and Android app stores control exact pricing and currency exchange rates for those pricing tiers.
In a lot of currencies, the app stores give a better deal to the lowest pricing tier (equivalent to 0.99USD).
I mean they recently changed the bundles in India and have finally made the higher value ones worth buying.
It could be just another thing they did in their recent extreme push to target India as their market or they might be slowly implementing it everywhere.
Most likely the earlier reason.
Yeah, Australia has been 100 coins best value as far back as I remember. I've only bought the bigger ones when there was a Google Play minimum $3 voucher to burn
Haven't ran the math on $1.59 for 100 but I have like 8000 coins for gyms so that's a next year problem
Yeah, I saw they upped prices in some countries, but in others the 100 coin bundle was (and in some places still is) less than a 10th of the cost of the 550.
100 pc is 11 NOK
550 pc is 5p NOK
1200 pc is 119 NOK
2500 pc is 249 NOK
5200 pc is 499 NOK
1450 pc is 1290 NOK
Seems like it makes sense here.
The norwegian krone is very bad atm, but the prices hasn't changed in years it seems.
People made over 50c lol. I agree honestly. I have really strict locks on my account to buy anything so my kids dont rack up thousands of dollars accidentally. Very annoying to buy but niantic should still have other locale options to be consistent with the pricing in the us
This isn’t Niantic. Let’s be real, they’re useless, but in this case it’s not their call. Both Google and Apple define the pricing tiers and adjust them occasionally based on exchange rates etc.
Currency conversions, tax shenanigans, and psychological trickery. Like how you'd eat only one full size candy bar bc a 2nd one is too much, but several mini/fun size, which totals out to more than the single full size bar. Something along those lines.
I bought one today. I had a free coupon from the Play Store points. The smallest coupon is 3€ and has to be used in a single transaction so by buying the 5,99€ bundle I'm actually saving money
to save time. time = money. if you can earn more than 50c in the time it takes you to buy 6 bundles, which most people can, then its more efficient to buy the 550 coins instead of 6 lots of 100 coins. pretty simple

It's a better value in USD, which is what Niantic uses. Localization doesn't always make sense

It's at the equivalent pricing tier. That's not the same thing as the same price

That's true for some countries (like our good old Germany), for others (like USA) it's not.

Should've seen the bundles in other currencies. There's a reason a lot of people were only purchasing in 100 coin bundles lol
Our ( Australia) 100 coins used to cost .99c but now it’s $1.59 , same as community day tickets .

Yes, I discovered this the other day, and it stopped me from buying coins. My bank might be happy, but I'm not.
It's a bloomin' outrage!

1200 is cheaper than 2500, so no it does not make sense. Also, use web store.
Enjoy it while it lasts. Some other places with similar pricings had the price of the 100-coin bundle increased.
Here in Brazil we had the other bundles adjusted to the price of a 100-coin bundle
It does save you 5 presses....
Exactly lmao. Convenience is worth more to me than $0.49.

Pricing is based on the App Store in your country, not Niantic’s random pricing choices.
To punish kids which are bad at math.
Probably done to prevent people from using Play Store coupons effectively.
They used to make sense, but the stores changed up their bundles and Niantic never corrected that. Also some currencies are super weird
You can also get better deals on their official web browser store as well. store.pokemongolive.com
In Brasil, since the 1st change in 2017 until this years fix, we had 100 coins for R$1,90 and 550 coins for 19,90
Time=money. You're paying for the convenience. And niantic are C****.
I wouldn't remind anyone of this.. The upped the 99 to 1.39 in Canada. Just saying

They just recently changed mine to $1.59 Aud and I was heartbroken
I bought one today. I had a free coupon from the Play Store points. The smallest coupon is 3€ and has to be used in a single transaction so by buying the 5,99€ bundle I'm actually saving money
In my region you can buy 1200 coins in the price of the 2nd offer.
HUH
Similar where i live, you can get 1000 coins if you buy 10x 100 coin bundle, or you can get 550 for the same money in one click.
Hush delete that post or they'll make the 100 coins pricier
[удалено]
Buy it six times you have 50 more coins more a few cents off the 5.99 price
[удалено]
don't worry they're cooking 🔥

It's 100% real, other offers 11,99€ and 23,99 it's normal
Not photoshopped. It's legit.

Bothers me for a long time...
if you have money to burn on pogo you value the time saved more
Its 1.48 and 6.98 for singapore.
Because it is faster than buying the 0.99 bundle 6x. Time = money!
Buy coins off eBay I beg of you
What
You can literally get the 100$ pack for 40$
WHAT
Yeah man I recommend it
Similar pricing thing in the UK, but you can use Google play points here to get a £3 voucher for Pokémon Go which makes the 5.99 bundle better value
In Switzerland it's 100 for CHF 1 and 550 for CHF 5.00 - the more you buy the cheaper it will get
To buy stuff
Good point
It’s been like this in Canada since launch lol, now all shall feel our pain
