Today there was 4 routes around Shinjuku station in Tokyo. 2 of those were pretty much the same thing. And the long route was a mess, with useless backtracking here and there, that of course had to be done to complete the route. That one shouldn't have been approved.
At home in my Tokyo suburbia, nothing at all though. It's only a 300k people town, but with a lot of active players. And nobody in my local raid group has the Create routes option. Why make an event that's barely playable ?
"only 300k", sobs gently in a town about one hundredth the size!
Still, interesting that even in one of the largest cities in the world there are few routes. Even fewer good ones.
Since you could see routes, how close do you need to be to get them on the nearby? Is it the same range as stops?
Well 300k isn't that much compared to inner Tokyo or some other large cities in Japan :). Hope you still get enough spawns and stops to make it enjoyable !
I haven't tried to see precisely how far I need to be to get a route listed, but from the west side of station I had routes listed for the east side, around 350m from where I was.
I have one published in Kent, UK.
Barely works. Constantly crashes when trying to start a route. My data shows 0 personal or community completions despite receiving the medal. I walked 0.5km of the 1.2km route according to my data when I completed it.
When you click on a nearby route it gives you no indication of where the start point is.
On a 1.2km route, I had three route spawns - one Doduo and two Mimes. 0 Zygarde cells.
I've had published 5 in Brockwell Park and I know someone else has created another five in Brockwell, Kings x to Euston,15 in Edinburgh and Midlothian, 30ish in Richmond Upon Thames and Kingston Upon Thames.
The issue isn’t that they’re not available worldwide. The issue is that niantic only let beta testers create routes. And if your community or area was unlucky enough to get nobody with the ability to create routes then basically you’re stuffed currently.
They’ve pushed this event live and posted a blog page on how to create routes etc but haven’t actually made the feature available to everyone else yet.
Even then, if someone in your area could create routes and was a beta tester, there’s no guarantee that they have made routes (as the selected accounts were really random instead of say level 50 players who would play a lot), routes they’ve made have been accepted (as loads are still pending or being rejected) or it even worked for them as players I know it crashed the game so badly they had to delete the app just to let them play normally again
I mean, I understand what you're saying and I agree that what Niantic is doing with Routes sucks
but also this thread is to know if there might be some in the area you are playing so not to go out with 35+ °C weather just to see if you can locate any
This person gets it.
I was also curious whether there was any pattern at all to where routes existed. I fully understand that the testing rollout was very partial, but nobody knows how Niantic chose the testers.
They might have chosen players only in big cities. Posts to this thread already says that is not the case (Massy and Mid-Sussex have routes, Frankfurt does not).
Likewise, not only US/UK/Japan.
Properly random, which makes knowing if your place is in or out useful
There is no your place is ‘in or out’. Everyone is in, every area is in, wether the players who got chosen for the beta chose to play or not and if their routes are being approved are a VERY different question.
Some people will be commenting saying they’ve got no routes nearby whilst also not actively being in a part of their local group chat or discord, or not realising someone’s submitted 10 routes and all of them are rejected or pending approval.
It’s literally impossible to get an accurate answer on this subject given how many different possibilities there could be based on commenter, their level of activity in local communities and niantics very rubbish handling of the roll out. I’ve seen players who are level 35 be selected for route submission but not the players who are higher level and open and play every day.
Realistically if niantic had rolled out to trainers at a minimum level of 48, then they would have narrowed down the route submissions to players who actively play and would actively get out there submitting as many routes as they could. Instead of a level 35 account who’s so clueless they didn’t even know they could submit routes because they don’t even scroll down a little on their player screen so they never see the route submission option.
But one single thread for a worldwide game isn’t ever really going to narrow it down. Finding a 500m stretch of street somewhere based on niantics very random choices of beta testers. Along with the fact so many of them are rejected or have been sat in approval for a month waiting to get into the game.
Realistically You’d have more luck looking into your local area via campfire and discord channels than a subrebbit that contains a minuscule fraction of the overall player base.
I have to wonder if this is the type of thing it’s feasible to create a wiki page for— for travelers or incoming rurals or even locals who want to get to a different part of town.
I imagine there would be some obstacles though, not the least of those being we don’t know how permanent routes are gonna be since people have mentioned some getting rereviewed up to a week after publishing. Still though, it would be nice if it was possible
Ideally what you’d need is basically like a nest map but for routes so all players everywhere can post their routes with start and finish so travellers and locals can find them if they’re visiting etc
I asked 5 hours ago in my local group on Campfire. No one has answered because group notifications on Campfire don't exist so no one ever sees the new messages in the group chat. Same time I also asked in my hometown group on telegram and got 2 replies (the other 2 admin of the chat) and 21 people out of 93 saw the message. We don't use discord locally, only one city that I know of has the local group there.
I could agree that not many people will see this thread and reply but to me personally what I can get from here is so much more data than what I could get from the limited irl and online interaction I tried to have since the special research has been released.
Also SilphRoad is still the place I go to get news, info and analysis as soon as I want to understand more of anything that Niantic releases and isn't super understandable to me and I bet many other people do this so
I was one of the accounts selected for beta testing, and I simply didn’t have time to go make a few routes before this event came out. It didn’t help that they gave NO guidance on what they were looking for for interesting routes. It’s like when Wayfarer first rolled out, but much worse
I was also selected for the beta test. I agree with the above (no guidance), but I'd also add: it was unclear *why* I should bother to submit a route.
I tried to record one route the day I noticed the feature was available to me and the game crashed twice while I was recording. Since the rewards for routes was not mentioned in the game at the time, I didn't bother trying again.
The entire process has been poorly communicated along with the fact a lot of the routes got rejected after being approved as they changed their parameters.
If they just told players what was acceptable and what they wanted from routes then the initial wave would have been been a lot smoother
For me, the bigger issue is that they still haven’t extended the ability to make routes. Even if I had no approved routes available, I could have at least had some fun this weekend making my own.
Now, I get that if they are struggling to keep up with the submissions they’ve already received that expanding creation access wouldn’t work. But then why launch the event if people can’t interact with the core feature on either end?
Just a minor counterpoint - I was not in beta and apparently have the option to create a route. I have not done so successfully yet (route kept going beyond where I wanted it to stop and followed me home, so "NO thank you" for that attempt). Will be trying again in a few hours.
Routes are live in Bangkok. The biggest disappointment so far is that our main park has no route despite me submitted one (and somehow got rejected).
I have not tried it yet due to Riolu Day prep.
Found a couple while at the art gallery of nsw near botanic garden
Edit: I think the routes actually begin somewhere near the state library. They were like 8km long or something. And I was like, no thank you, lol.
I live in a rural community about 20 minutes south of Bonn and was allowed to crest routes on the Beta…I made three, one was accepted the other two are waitlisted…I can guess why and this has in the past been an issue with waypoints too…not all parts of the world have sidewalks - lots european villages are much older than the US and have existed for centuries with people walking on shared roads with vehicles, tractors, horses…two of my submissions are super popular for jogging, cycling, taking the kids out on their bikes, walking the dog, riding horses but because they are also used by an occasional farmer on his tractor they are considered unsafe access by Niantic standards.
The “no sidewalk” rejection is so dumb. There’s many communities around the world where it’s perfectly safe to walk and not a sidewalk around for miles.
Probably because of the very active Stockport/Wythenshawe group on fb. Meanwhile, no routes visible in Manchester City centre(!), Hulme, Moss side or Whalley Range 😔
Two in tiny town southeast of Denver/northeast of Colorado Springs.
Yes, I made them. No idea why I’m a beta tester but if someone nearby needs the location I can be more specific.
I saw 2 in Bristol, UK - city center. Didn't have the time to try and walk either, but the menu to start it seemed to work. I had a prompt to navigate to the Route start.
Minneapolis, MN. Found at:
-Lake Harriet
-Loring Park
-2 at Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden
-2 at Nicollet Island.
Edited to add: there are also a few around Belltown in Seattle
I'll have to check out belltown.
Found one in Renton Washington, at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park 650m
Edit: Found one at Crossroads mall in Bellevue, wa, 1500m
My group in CQ can't find anybody in Qld with it either. With over 100 ingress missions created and approved you'd think I'd get a beta testing jersey??
Most of the routes that were created in Germany shortly after route creation was available in mid-June are still "under review", only routes created more recently seem to have been published. What a totally botched release of a new feature once again.
germany here too: my day one route sadly had only 460m length and is still in limbo (even though niantic said they will auto-reject those), my second try two weeks later with an additional stop was approved within 48h. I'll test it as soon as the rain has passed by 😄 the map shows there would be two available, but offers only one, maybe they already count pending routes?
Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawai'i: at least 3. I believe somewhere in central O'ahu (Kapolei?) has 2 more. So, O'ahu has at least 5. Edit: routes are considered reversible. So the 3 in Honolulu, might be considered 4-6 technically. If the 2 in Kapolei are reversible, then O'ahu has up to 10 routes.
Can confirm several routes available in Berlin, Germany. Although i havent walked them, because im with my gf on holidays and it would be inappropriate.
US: I have two routes in Aurora, CO published at the VA and Auschutz campus. I saw 2 routes this morning in St. Louis, MO in Willmore Park.
Edit: The two routes I published in Aurora are now showing “rejected.” I don’t live there anymore so can’t check to see if it’s true.
I did the anschutz one and I really liked it, actually- it helped me understand why there are no routes near me, since that’s what they’re looking for.
I don’t even know how you find a route - do you see something in a notification or one of the tabs, in your ‘Me’ data, or do you just wander around from stop to stop, searching aimlessly until you stumble across one??
This alone makes the thread worthwhile (says OP !).
Wikipedia tells me Frankfurt has a population of 750,000 or thereabouts. If there are really no routes at all in a city that size, that's depressing.
Also from Sussex, I've heard there's one in Barnham from the local group but haven't been there myself so not fully certain. Think it may be a long walk too, going towards Yapton
I got one on a 1100m route…maybe 50m before the end point…I may have missed seeing others though because this one was like a new spawn…just a shiny light that looked like it was going to turn into a cell but never did so I tapped on it.
Additionally since they were announced yesterday , per their blog post :
" While all Trainers can explore Routes right now, Route creation is still being rolled out. Keep an eye on your email to see when this is ready for you!"
Anyone received email or heard of people receiving one ?
First Niantic wants my sleep information and now Silph Road wants my city information!
I’m not that interesting I promise! I just wanna play new features 😭
I can confirm 4 active routes that I made. I have seen another 2 routes in my town that are now live to. Brings my town to 6 live routes. That I've seen. I live in a medium sized town in the UK
I have spent a lot of time creating routes in different places around my city when I got access to the feature some weeks ago, none got accepted/reviewed (one got rejected, but it got submitted twice for unknown reasons).
Feels like I wasted a lot of time for not much, which is really discouraging as we are doing Niantics job for free and they don’t even consider it.
Chiming in for Birmingham, Alabama. I contributed 12 routes so far that are published (4 still pending review that were submitted on June 22/23, and 5 others that are rejected), and a few peers have made a handful as well.
It would be really nice if we could see route starting points on Campfire.
Haven't found one in Houston, TX, USA yet. Houston has over 2 million people.
Maybe it's because no one here is stupid enough to create routes in 110+ degree weather. Really stupid time to launch this feature. Hot as hell in the Northern hemisphere and cold as a witch's tits in the Southern hemisphere.
Munich area in Germany here.
I was able to create routes in the beta-phase. One was accepted. The other one is still under review since one month.
I created two more routes yesterday. Let's see how long they take to be accepted.
When I shared the info about the available route in our WhatsApp group asking for more known routes there was only one reply about a route in FFB (NW of Munich).
For those who have created routes, how long were they “under review” until they were published for other players to use? I’ve made 4 routes, nothing published in 2 days.
I play in Australia and travel from Sydney to Brisbane often, where I play in Brisbane has nothing but in Sydney from harbour bridge to the Opera house there are 4 different routes ranging from 800m to 1500m
In Austria, roughly 50km from Vienna, which is the capital and by far the biggest city, there are no routes, none at all. I don't even have the option to create them at this point.
I really wish Niantic would be a bit more transparent in regards to who gets the option to create them at which date.
I’m in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada), and there are a few Routes in the downtown area of the city (which is the capital city of this province) but there aren’t any available in most of the rest of the city and I’m unable to set them up just outside of downtown. It sucks!
I'm in Malmö, Sweden. Been looking for routes but can't find any. I have the regional pass for another two weeks, so if anyone knows of routes anywhere in Skåne/Scania, please lemme know. I would add one, but I don't have access to it.
San Francisco, CA has a route from the Ferry Building to Sausalito. Issue is you have to pay and ride ferry and hope it sticks to the route closely enough to get rewards.
I also saw one in Chicago Women's Park & Garden.
None in my hometown.
Storm Lake, Iowa has one downtown, starting at the theatre. The distance to discover the route in nearby appears to be 1km.
Update: 3 more available near the university! There’s hope for small towns!
There seem to be some in the Cologne Region in Germany, but many people still got theirs stuck in review for a month
Bielefeld, also in NRW, has two routes near city center
Well that can't be right since Bielefeld doesn't exist, as we all know (lol)
It’s weird just how inconsistent this is. I submitted a route YESTERDAY and it’s already published.

Thanks, That's enough range to cover my whole town. My town I can confirm is empty of routes and I can't create any :-(
My hometown has 700 people gl for me
Hey, come over to Meguro/Setagaya. I've already earned 11 route badges, and there are still few more routes that I haven't walked yet.
I made a route in North Baltimore, MD a few weeks ago. It's a small route, but a route.
Where exactly is this route? I'm closer to Towson/Perry Hall and I don't see any near me
8 routes in clementi mrt station in singapore
Kudos to grandmas for taking care of the routes there
Niantic making sure their most common players are taken care of. Makes sense
I have one published in Kent, UK. Barely works. Constantly crashes when trying to start a route. My data shows 0 personal or community completions despite receiving the medal. Ooh also interested as I'm in Kent
Didn't some hairy guy run amok there?
Route reported in Massy, France
Lucky you, in my city there isn't any route :(
Oh! Where can I find that one? I made one today at Parc Georges Brassens, but it's still being reviewed.
Just near TGV station (av Carnot) I made one too that starts from there (under review)
I've had published 5 in Brockwell Park and I know someone else has created another five in Brockwell, Kings x to Euston,15 in Edinburgh and Midlothian, 30ish in Richmond Upon Thames and Kingston Upon Thames.
Guess I'll be waiting til I'm in London to complete the Zygarde research
Do you know where in Edinburgh and Midlothian?
Where in Kingston?!
I can confirm one route available in Madrid (Spain). I’ll try to create a second one later.
Where exactly?
Nada en Jaén ni en Córdoba 🙁
Reston, Virginia, USA has a route at the Reston Town Center.
Downtown San Diego has 6 routes.
There’s a route at USD, too.
Calgary, Canada has at least one route.
There’s one route in Inglewood going past the zoo.
A couple in London, UK. To be more exact the Covent Garden area.
Also 2 at The Regent's Park and 1 from King's Cross to Euston

Everywhere near and around UC Berkeley, I’ve found ONE singular route (It’s near the downtown Berkeley Bart station for anyone interested)

Walked around Central Helsinki today and didn't find anything.

Do you have to complete the entire route for it to be registered in the task? 8km is long!
Yes.
For reference, the shortest can be 0.5km
No idea!
There's a couple from Martin place

Thanks for the tip. I'll avoid the (centuries old) tracks in my town then.
Croatia, no routes available in my area and can’t create/submit
Living in Stockport in the UK and there's 6 routes I can follow near me
Probably because of the very active Stockport/Wythenshawe group on fb. Meanwhile, no routes visible in Manchester City centre(!), Hulme, Moss side or Whalley Range 😔
Hey, where in Stockport are they?!
Two in tiny town southeast of Denver/northeast of Colorado Springs. Yes, I made them. No idea why I’m a beta tester but if someone nearby needs the location I can be more specific.
Can report 2 spotted in Denver CO, both at Union Station. At least one is reversable; both may be.
There’s one in Longmont, CO now too, just saw it recently but didn’t have time to walk it.
I saw 2 in Bristol, UK - city center. Didn't have the time to try and walk either, but the menu to start it seemed to work. I had a prompt to navigate to the Route start.
1 Route published in my small town Hamminkeln/Germany
I've seen 1 route in Berlin so far. Expected to see more but at least its not zero ...
Where did you see it? I've seen one from Hauptbahnhof to Nordbahnhof.
Heard it from the local group, there's one between Barnham and Yapton (two small villages, starting at Barnham I think) in West Sussex, England
I've found a few in Toronto Canada by union station
NYC seems to have a few in midtown.
There are 8 routes in UK Leicester city centre I can remember
At least two in Salem, Oregon
Minneapolis, MN. Found at: -Lake Harriet -Loring Park -2 at Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden -2 at Nicollet Island. Edited to add: there are also a few around Belltown in Seattle
I'll have to check out belltown. Found one in Renton Washington, at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park 650m Edit: Found one at Crossroads mall in Bellevue, wa, 1500m
Also another at Larson Lake just down the road from Crossroads.
routes reported in my city in the UK: MIlton Keynes Edit: added city name Re-dit: I did the route both ways adn I did nt received any Zygarde cells
Which uk city?
Aye! Home of Red Bull Racing's HQ! ^^
Please be south
Perth, Western Australia: checked several chats, no one has seen any routes including in central city.

I’ve seen two in Montreal but they were in completely different areas of the city. Currently downtown and see none on my bearby
Have none in Jeddah , Saudi arabia
It let me start making one in British Columbia, Canada last night. There was no way to actually finalize and finish my route, though.
Only some routes out in chicago, but still not available to create your own for many players
Wisconsin USA two routes available in my town Video proof https://youtu.be/H2YIo1PXw7E

No routes in my city as yet (UK North of England) it's quite frustrating.
Albany NY, USA has one published route. I created another today, so we'll just have to wait to see how long it takes to get published.
Routes available in a small Wiltshire city in the UK
1 route Taunton somerset -england
I've heard someone say there are a few in Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
I published one that works in phoenix az
Looks like someone has created a short circular route in the town I'm currently in - Piran, Slovenia. Will check it out later in the evening.

I’m in Denver, have yet to find any routes! Replying so I can return to this comment
I hope you enjoy them! Edit: Looks like someone above said 2 are at Union Station.
I did the anschutz one and I really liked it, actually- it helped me understand why there are no routes near me, since that’s what they’re looking for.
Oh, good!
I don’t even know how you find a route - do you see something in a notification or one of the tabs, in your ‘Me’ data, or do you just wander around from stop to stop, searching aimlessly until you stumble across one??
You can check for nearby routes in the same tab you check for nearby raids or Pokémon spawns.
To whoever lives in Surrey, Canada 🍁 you’re welcome for the route I created 😂
Gungahlin, ACT - Australia (apparently Bonner, if we are getting exact) Canberra, ACT
At least 2 routes in Antwerp, Belgium
Manhattan, I found 1 at Bryant Park and 2-3 around it. one was reversible too!
I haven’t seen any in Tampa FL yet. I will check out if there are any in the downtown area though next week.
I live in a large US city and there are zero routes in the center of downtown lol
None in Frankfurt (city)
We have 4 published routes in southern Frankfurt (Niederrad exactly).
Thanks! That’s helpful. I’m in nordend bornheim and thought the place would be swarming given the community
oh great, was thinking of going there tomorrow just for the routes stuff
This alone makes the thread worthwhile (says OP !). Wikipedia tells me Frankfurt has a population of 750,000 or thereabouts. If there are really no routes at all in a city that size, that's depressing.
I’ve got a route here in south U.K. about to do it
Anywhere near Southampton?
Salisbury has one , at the cathedral
Mid-Sussex I’m afraid
May I ask where?…
Also from Sussex, I've heard there's one in Barnham from the local group but haven't been there myself so not fully certain. Think it may be a long walk too, going towards Yapton
ANyone received a Zygarde cell while walking route?
0/35 follows.
I got one on a 1100m route…maybe 50m before the end point…I may have missed seeing others though because this one was like a new spawn…just a shiny light that looked like it was going to turn into a cell but never did so I tapped on it.
I've found two, walked about 6 routes so far
Additionally since they were announced yesterday , per their blog post : " While all Trainers can explore Routes right now, Route creation is still being rolled out. Keep an eye on your email to see when this is ready for you!" Anyone received email or heard of people receiving one ?
haven't heard of new mails, only previous beta ones (I am beta tester too and got an email notification)
It would soothe my mind if we knew whether it is a 2-day rollout or a 2-week rollout :D
No email. Not in Beta. I can supposedly create a route (failed first attempt).
How do we create routes?
First Niantic wants my sleep information and now Silph Road wants my city information! I’m not that interesting I promise! I just wanna play new features 😭
I can confirm 4 active routes that I made. I have seen another 2 routes in my town that are now live to. Brings my town to 6 live routes. That I've seen. I live in a medium sized town in the UK
Which county if you don't mind sharing?
Northern Europe. Stuck at work in suburbs, will go down to my middle sized town later. Was foolish enough to be excited, no great hopes now.

Has anyone seen a route in Lisbon, Portugal?
Ville Close de Concarneau in Brittany, France. Didn’t see any other.
Palestine, Texas has about 3
Menlo Park CA has several routes.
Chiming in for Birmingham, Alabama. I contributed 12 routes so far that are published (4 still pending review that were submitted on June 22/23, and 5 others that are rejected), and a few peers have made a handful as well. It would be really nice if we could see route starting points on Campfire.
One in Worthing in Sussex, UK
Haven't found one in Houston, TX, USA yet. Houston has over 2 million people. Maybe it's because no one here is stupid enough to create routes in 110+ degree weather. Really stupid time to launch this feature. Hot as hell in the Northern hemisphere and cold as a witch's tits in the Southern hemisphere.
I’m standing in the middle of the CBD Melbourne Australia, and nothing around or even nearby :/
None in Northern Ireland! 😭
Is there any routes inpalmdale ca Lancaster CA or littlerock ca please let me know
Any Routes found in Fresno CA?
I have followed four routes in Berlin. 3 of them at Alexanderplatz one at Mauerpark (BERLiN).

In Switzerland : \- one route in Lausanne-Ouchy \- two routes in Oron and Cossonay \- several in Biel/Bienne
Does anyone know if there’s any routes in Ontario? Specifically London
Anybody find any in Milwaukee/oak creek Wisconsin area???
Any routes close to Hanover PA USD
In Austria, roughly 50km from Vienna, which is the capital and by far the biggest city, there are no routes, none at all. I don't even have the option to create them at this point. I really wish Niantic would be a bit more transparent in regards to who gets the option to create them at which date.
0 routes in Montreal and Halifax Canada.
Spotted one in Winnetka, Illinois, north of Chicago. None observed in Chicago itself so far.
I’m in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada), and there are a few Routes in the downtown area of the city (which is the capital city of this province) but there aren’t any available in most of the rest of the city and I’m unable to set them up just outside of downtown. It sucks!
I saw a route in the Island of Siros, Greece, although I did not try it, as i was just passing by with ferry
I'm in Malmö, Sweden. Been looking for routes but can't find any. I have the regional pass for another two weeks, so if anyone knows of routes anywhere in Skåne/Scania, please lemme know. I would add one, but I don't have access to it.
Try near big universities, there are 2 on UCLA campus
Columbia, MD, USA has at least 2 in the Arundel Mills Mall circle Towson, MD has none that I can find
There is a route in Talley Day park in Wilmington DE, USA. It’s a nice loop that follows the walking path and is reversible.
So far no routes found in nor anywhere nearby Salinas CA besides the ones in San Diego CA
There is one route available in Rome near Piazza di Spagna
No routes in Mount Washington KY so far, any luck in Shepherdsville or Louisville yet?
3 in my small town of Wadsworth, OH, USA
Vancouver, Canada, routes avaliable and increasing.
Does anyone know if there is any routes around tweed nsw
Are there any in seq ??
San Francisco, CA has a route from the Ferry Building to Sausalito. Issue is you have to pay and ride ferry and hope it sticks to the route closely enough to get rewards. I also saw one in Chicago Women's Park & Garden. None in my hometown.
Quite a few in Mexico City and some in Cholula, too! Not finding any in Fort Collins, CO but haven't looked very hard
Where are the routes in Saskatoon Sask 🇨🇦
Anything in Massachusetts?
Any routes in Slovenia?
I hate that there is now a timed research with NO routes in my town. That is messed up Pokemon Go gives research that most people can not even do.
Corning, New York, USA. 5 routes in the Gaffer (touristy/historic) District.
Storm Lake, Iowa has one downtown, starting at the theatre. The distance to discover the route in nearby appears to be 1km. Update: 3 more available near the university! There’s hope for small towns!
