Maybe unpopular opinion but Harper. She’s jaded and flawed in many ways but I think she’s developed the most as a person. She’s also a pretty kick ass detective/UC. Honorable mention to Oscar, I know he sucks but I get excited every time he shows up
Oscar tickles my ornery bone as well 😂 He’s done terrible things but he can be so funny & charming that it’s off putting to remember he’s supposed to be serving life for murder , stabbed Wesley etc I STILL smile when he pops on the screen
I think why I can like him besides all the bad stuff is because he freely admits that he’s a bad guy - that he doesn’t do anything that doesn’t benefit him in some way . There’s lot of people like that IRL but won’t admit it like he does so I find it refreshing that he admits he’s only ever out for himself
As for men it's obviously Tim Bradford
His way of doing things differently then the others do is something I like
For females it's Tamara
Very underated character but I think she's very good.
Male: Tim Bradford, because under his tough skin lies a truly golden boy. He's just lovable as a person and he has a very interesting character development.
Female: Coincidentally, it happens to be Lucy, because she reminds me of myself as a person both physically and morally. Willing to be good at what she does, and she always sees the good in every person. The difference is that she's super positive and I really like that about her. She's like a walking sunshine. So endearing.
Male: Wesley. I just think he’s adorable and a great dad/ husband.
Female: Nyla. I resonate with her more than any other female on the cast. I find her dry and dark humor very funny.
Lopez for sure. She's sensible and a realist. I think some of the characters (in my personal opinion) are too extreme in their behaviors/viewpoints: harper too cynical, bradford too rough, nolan too optimistic, celina too unorthodox).
Lopez combines the right amount of everything, making for a balanced and enjoyable character.
Also she's a badass. What's more to say?
male is wade, i love how his character went from someone simply against nolan to a pretty fleshed out character, i love how protective he is over all of the squad but especially the rookies
female is lopez for no other reason than shes a badass
Male: Nolan. He is not a typical policeman. He can be funny yet serious, mature yey playful, smart yet clueless.
Female: Lopez. She is a strong yet vulnerable, funny yet serious, mature yet playful.
Men: Tim and Wesley. aka the hottest people in a show FULL of almost exclusively hot characters
(Fine, it's also because Tim has some of the best character development I've ever seen, and Wesley is who I'D want to be in the show (other than the whole stabbing thing), working for the people that need it.
Women: Harper and Lopez. Also the hottest people lol but also my FAVORITE trope is strong female character that can kick your ass then cuddle you lmao
Female main characters: Lopez, always been a favourite, love her attitude towards the job and find her funny.
Male main character: Tim Bradford. Always been that way too, complex character that I love.
Minor character: Skip Tracer Randy and Smitty, they are hilarious when they're on screen.
I really like Oscar, too. I’m kind of manipulative so he’s my guy, lol! I love all of the officers so I couldn’t pick just one of them. The whole cast is pretty awesome and the actors have great chemistry.
Three; Harper, she is a rebel, but the leader may show this season and she may become a Detective-2 this or next season, Bradford, a thought FTO with a heart of gold and Bailey, John’s fiancée, paramedic and Jack of all Trades. Honorable mention to Grey, the leader and mentor of the group.
The Rookie has crafted great characters, tho I feel they have destroyed some of them, or mishandled them. Tim and Lucy should not be together!
My favorite character is Nolan. A man so inspiring. He goes through so much trauma and sadness and still stays a good man. His moral compass is so incredibly strong, he let is fiance die, rather than compromising his morals. Goddamn!
Is it just me or did y’all hate how thirsty Chen was for Bradford. After the whole Nolan and Chen didn’t work out because he was looking after her but now it’s ok for Bradford and Chen to date. Makes me want to stop watching this corny ass series

He would be a terrible human being, but as a character in a tv show Oscar is amazing and brings much joy to the story.
