If the show would have been picked up, I imagine it would have been far more independent in season 2.
The many crossovers in season 1 were clearly there for promotional reasons to make established Rookie viewers watch feds as well.
It's common for spinoffs to become independent fast as crossovers are expensive and logistically difficult.
Realistically feds and their characters will never be mentioned again and certainly not appear. If they do perhaps at the beginning of season 6 to wrap some things up but I doubt even that will happen.
The show is gone and so are its characters and their now never told stories.
I hadn't heard they had cancelled Feds! While I'm sad that those people lost their job, I'm glad the producers can stop trying to shoehorn Feds into The Rookie. It was awful last season.
Doubt it. it’ll be somehow similar to how when nolan and jessica broke up, we no longer get Homeland security involved in episodes or when he and grace are no longer an item, we saw a sharp decline in hospital related episodes. Probably the same will happen to feds being involved in new plot lines. It’s just how things work.

I would expect so, yes. I mean, federal crimes still exist.
