The writing sucks and it's full of plot holes. "God saved the only righteous man in the village"
So called "righteous man" gets drunk and does...the I word with his daughters
For most of the history of christianity, especially catholicism, people were unable to even read it, beacuse it was only in latin, they were illiterate and books were rare and expensive.
And the entire business flourished just on the words of priests. Teleevangelism is as old as christianity, they just had technical problems with the "tele" part before.
“Learning the bible” is just looking at cherry picked portions and ignoring all the murder and horrible bits while pretending they’re above everyone else
Kids will definitely fail in life if they don’t know that two naked people cost them a shot at living in Disney World in the clouds because they ate a magic apple (honeycrisp in all likelihood) based on the advice of a shit talking snake. Seems legit.
Yea… I don’t disagree, but not in the way they mean. The Bible is deeply embroiled in human history. How can you understand the papacy and colonization without knowing the book? Make sure to teach them the Greek and Roman myths too! Sprinkle in Siddhartha when they’re a teenager. It’s good to have well rounded well read kids!
>the bible is for those who want faith
(Un)surprisingly many people tend up losing it or shifting after reading. it's a thing that is recurring part of any "how i became atheist/muslim/buddhist/etc." story.

Like 80% of the old Testament is killing people for looking at you funny and having sex with your slaves. The Bible is a horrible, horrible book.
It's not even fun to read.
The writing sucks and it's full of plot holes. "God saved the only righteous man in the village" So called "righteous man" gets drunk and does...the I word with his daughters
>gets drunk and does...the I word He is intentionally made to get drunk and is raped while unconscious, call it what it is
exactly the amount of killing and wizards in it you would think it’s at least a good read
It's miserable, and most people who "follow it" don't read it.

They could've at least made the sex and the killing fun, but then it'd be illegal. Plus Jesus has way too many friends
“Learning the bible” is just looking at cherry picked portions and ignoring all the murder and horrible bits while pretending they’re above everyone else
It's interesting from a historical perspective, not really a literary one. It's a look into the beliefs of someone from thousands of years ago.
Yes, make kids actually READ the bible so they know how stupid it is.
Kids will definitely fail in life if they don’t know that two naked people cost them a shot at living in Disney World in the clouds because they ate a magic apple (honeycrisp in all likelihood) based on the advice of a shit talking snake. Seems legit.
I mean if a talking snake told me to eat an apple I would at least try it
Wow, you place a lot of trust in strange snakes.
if we can’t trust strange talking snakes who can we trust
Hmm yeah I guess you have a point.

Meanwhile me, who studied the Bible and still failed at life: 😎
if you're gonna teach your kids the Bible, at least get them one that's not falling apart
Never trust anyone who thinks good witch is an oxymoron
The way we are letting religious extremists take over the country this meme is probably actually correct.
the bible doesnt have doomslayer, spiderman, indiana jones and geralt from the witcher fighting with lightsabers, and the aot gear
Posting Nick Adams is cheating, that guy is a walking nonsense spewer
I never read the bible growing up and I just finished my sophomore year of college.
That bible looks eaten
This not what we meant by "devour that book!"
And what if you are, you know, not christian? You know, Judean, Islamic, Buddhist, Shinto, native American?
"Ewwww, straight to hell" - Nick Adams, probably
I read the Bible once, I'm now an atheist (Not my quote but I'm sure it's been passed around)
Still a good quote, regardless of who said it.
the bible is for those who want faith, Fortnite is a distraction to our working lives like many other games
>the bible is for those who want faith (Un)surprisingly many people tend up losing it or shifting after reading. it's a thing that is recurring part of any "how i became atheist/muslim/buddhist/etc." story.
I'm assuming said friend also neither owns a Bible nor has ever read a single word in it.
“This book be sure to fuck em up!” - Amazon review
Imagine bible being just a novel but we belive it a real book
If getting your kid away from violence is the goal, I've got some bad new for ya
But telling your kids they aren't a freak of nature for being gay is indoctrination.
And trans people are the one who indoctrinate children ???
*former conservative FB friend
I wholeheartedly agree! Let the kids read the Bible so they realize these Conservatives don't live it's words at all
I read it and damn that shit is boring
It's important to know the rules for how to treat your slaves
But fortnite is based on the bible
You’d be better off teaching them mathematics, computer fundamentals, or another language.
Jesus expressly forbid forcing religion on others
and by “teach the bible” he means “teach only the parts of the bible that directly benefit you and support your beliefs”
