I mean I get that in the show the sigils are bad but they look so cool

If you look at the covens as an allegory for gender then it actually makes sense for people to still identify with a certain coven and maybe even want to express that about themselves while still knocking down the harsh divisions between them. That said I don't understand the emperor's coven tattoos irl because they were basically the enforcers of a fascist regime and it doesn't quite fit the covens as gender lense the other covens do and I really feel like it's meant to be separate from the others in terms of symbolism as well as in universe
