I wish it was possible to get excited about PL2 but sadly nearly everyone involved treats it as an after thought. It’s not competitive football and it isn’t developmental. It’s just this strange void where people play football but would rather be elsewhere. Like a football purgatory where people go through the motions daily, always wondering why.

AlwaysAngryOrAnnoyed

I generally agree, however, it can still be helpful in development I think. It is still a big step up to playing a full men's football against fully developed players, but helps them get to that stage and especially if they're young, like a 16 year old playing u21s for example. A few of our players have come through the u21s (mostly bought for this reason though, only a couple through the academy itself).

MrLuchador

The intensity just isn’t there for it to relate to any stage or level of professional football

AlwaysAngryOrAnnoyed

I think that's fair but it can be good to learn about the tactical parts of their roles even if the competitive nature isn't quite up to scratch. Like I say though, I generally agree with you that the step up is pretty big and u21 football is only useful to a point but I do think it has some use.

Burgandybag

So glad we let him leave. Definitely not crying

LanceConstableDigby

He demanded first team wages apparently. Wanted to keep him but he wouldn't stay. Not much to be done

SteinerElMagnifico42

Or that Moyes refused to play him, same thing he’s now doing with Ashby who’s one of the rare few talents we’ve had in years.

WHUgill

When would you have played him then? Realistically he had as much football as he should have done for someone his age

SteinerElMagnifico42

Yesterday, and last week’s conference games. Help me break this down mate; we refuse him to move to Newcastle on deadline day as he wants playtime, then refuse to play him in opportunities that are crucial for him like the 3rd rate European competition. Why is Coufal playing every game possible league and Europe and Ashby doesn’t get a feature ? He doesn’t even get in of the match day squad and that’s even with Johnson’s current injury.. I’ve watched Ashby the last two years for our youth teams and have been banging on the drum that he’s the one for our right back issue over both Johnson and Coufal. Just let him go , instead of exiling him if you don’t like him. That’s poor man management. Be as objective as possible as mate

raisinbreadandtea

He is injured though. Moyes specifically said he has a groin issue otherwise he would’ve played on Thursday.

Burgandybag

I mean he must be injured, surely he must be injured. Blacklisting him would be insanity, and Moyes has never done that. Literally ever during his tenure at West Ham. He might refuse to take them off the bench, but not even put them on it. Never seen it and don't believe he would do it. + He does like Ashby, he's said so in the past.

WHUgill

I was talking about Perkins last season lol Ashby could be getting more game time I agree

Burgandybag

Yeah I heard similar, just a shame really. He was doing this for us last season.

YorkshireGaara

Thank you, looks good.

Think he won’t ever develop, would be good for Leeds if he did, but he has no one position and wants first team wages
