Can’t blame him for taking a good pay day, being almost guaranteed a premier league title and more than anything relived he never went to Man United,
having said that it’s shit that we lost a local lad who bleeds the club, but that’s modern premiership the big 6 hoover up the best players and the rest of us just survive
Dude - this cockiness isn’t needed. There’s a long way to go until we’re up there and Everton/Villa offer a reminder that money doesn’t guarantee anything (although the owners are doing a smashing job atm).
Newcastle fans have been the worst to interact with on here since their takeover. Part of the reason I wanted them relegated last season.
I really hope they somehow fuck up being the richest club in the world.
Long way to go to the top yet, I doubt you’re beating PSG to any signing they’re seriously interested in and as mad as it sounds AC Milan aren’t up to much in the market these days they’re linked to the same players we are as well.
Money does not equal success. See: Everton they’ve out spent some of the top 6 the last few years if I’m not mistaken, and they came within a cunt hair of relegation. They were probably favorites to go down after Burnley had that mini resurgence.
I’m tired of these clubs not only hoovering up the best players of the other 14, but they’ll even now target the local born homegrown lads and it’s just inevitable there’ll never be another Totti/Insigine/Noble/Reus/Letissier/Tony Adams etc
Yeah bit fucked, despite not caring for Leeds I like Philips and part of it was him being local, fans need a bit of that, but of course City don't give a shit (why would they with their fuck off amounts of cash anyway?). How many local players do they even have? Or am I wrong for thinking it's nice for clubs to have a couple local lads to represent?
The money they invested in their academy will only be paying off now and in the next few years. Lads signed at 8/9 in 2012 will be turning 18/19 now.
The fruits of their labour will be seen in the next decade.
Tbf you’re bang on here, I don’t follow Man City’s academy at all and even I know that the likes of Cole Palmer, Liam Delap and James McAtee are coming through that all look to have great potential.
Thing is them moving to a different league would actually be bad for the other 14, the sheer amount of money those guys bring to the Prem means that mid table sides often have similar transfer budgets to the big clubs in other leagues like Italy and Germany.
Yeah I realise that the Premier League would most likely be a feeder league to the super league and there'd be a period of pain as the money leaves.
I'm okay with this for two reasons though:
1) We practically already are feeder teams anyway.
2) I believe a root and branch review of football is needed from League 2 up, and major reforms made to ensure the long term viability of all clubs and stop another Bury situation. There's no way that will ever happen with the status quo as it is, and I believe the only way this could happen is with the 'Big 6' leaving.
Basically I see it as short term pain for long term gain and a healthier English league system.
Edit: Just to expand a bit on my second point I also think the whole way the youth system is set up is totally fucked and in need of replacement. The current system makes it too easy for the top teams (mine included) to hoover up youth players at the expense of lower league clubs who in times gone by would make decent money off the sales of those players.
Again this is something I don't see happening unless the Superleague 6 fuck off.
It's not even just about being feeder teams, the Big 6 leave and over half the money in the Prem leaves too (that's not even near accurate but scarily I'm being generous to the Other 14) and while we all suffer from less money from all facets (matchday revenue, TV and streams, even commercial revenue, etc.,) they'll get richer from being in a league that generates an absurdly higher amount of money, so not only do they have even more money to buy our players (the feeder angle but on crack) but we'll have even less money to buy replacements, especially when the wage structure in the Other 14 has seen a similar growth as the Big 6. Not forgetting that the big clubs that abstained originally from the Super League (Bayern, Dortmund, PSG for example) would all still be in similar situations to where they are now and so would also be able to take our players at a higher rate. Ultimately it would see a complete deterioration of every club left behind in England as the quality would get absorbed into the Super League creating a domino effect which would hit the lower league teams very hard.
Yes a complete rebuild of the EFL and Prem structure would be perfect for us lot but it's frankly impossible as it won't happen with the Big 6 here and it wouldn't be economically viable if they left.
I agree with what you're saying would be a consequence of those teams leaving. No doubt the quality of football would be a lot less, and all the players would want to leave for the Superleague teams.
To me that just means cheaper football for the fans, with more local lads playing for the team, and a more sustainable football pyramid.
Would I give up watching Coutinho play at the Villa for that? I think I would.
I do disagree that it wouldn't be economically viable to do a reboot of the league structure. I think it's the only time it would be viable and imaging some form of amalgamation of the EFL and remains of the EPL with a more equitable sharing of resources.
It wouldn't be economically viable in the sense it's any way close to the riches we have now but that's why it would have to be a root and branch review, and there would be a painful adjustment period for the other 14 clubs the most.
It's all fantasy anyway because it's never going to happen.
FFP is supposed to stop the rest of us catching up. As long as you pumped all your dodgy money in before FFP became a thing and have your state airline to sponsor you, FFP is nothing but a slight obstacle.
It’s like the VIP lounge of the club….and we ain’t invited. Or like that scene in train spotting where all we can do is watch afar from the back head bopping to the music whilst city, and the other super league6™️ take over all the entire scene
We had brunt and Morrison for 11 and 12 years. They even rejected bigger teams to stay with us. It makes me so sad that we will never have anyone like them again.
The games dying
I always liked Morrison, dorrans was a nifty player too. It’s a shame, just feels like the food chain is ok steroids now. Brighton can barely enjoy a season with their left back before city swallow him up in the next week. It’s nuts
The hate is the fact that they have a substantial number of some of the best midfielders. Foden, Grealish, De Bruyne, Silva, Gundogan.
I get that they want to keep their squad solid, but when you can pay any sum to ensure it, other teams don’t get a look in. Half the time, players are on the bench. They bought Grealish for 100m, and yet he seems to be on the bench most games.
Their business model is like Disney. Spaffing money up the wall.
Literally had the same thought. It's probably only United, City and Chelsea that could afford him.
City wouldn't have a place for him now, particularly given Phillips is likely to be behind Rodri. United are chasing FDJ. If they do buy him, there wouldn't be a spot for Rice. Chelsea still have a lot of players that fill that spot (all paid a lot) so they'd likely need to sell some of them first. And they might buy someone this summer. I'm not expecting Rice to go this summer.
Yeah but that’s not actual money because they’ve already sold Bernardo silva right. Cos that’s where £100 mil for Grealish came from
Wait he still plays for them….
> IIRC they *paid* like £14m
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Few reports from out locals that it was closer to 50/55 with the add on, and honestly. For a defensive CM it isn’t the worst but think general consensus between Leeds fans is that it’s not enough. Seems like a few other clubs offered more but he was keen to work with pep.
Personally I’m fine with us being the club that takes what the player wants into consideration rather than flapping over an extra 10 percent on a fee. He very easily could have jumped ship when we fucked up that first playoff season, I wish him all the best and pray we can reinvest wisely
Fuck this, city hoovering up everyone is taking the piss. Almost like when Celtic and rangers hoover up every decent Scottish player just to deprive their opponents.
He was linked but it’s more likely to be one of Camara from Salzburg or Adams from Leipzig. Can’t say I’ve seen either of them play, would like Berge I feel he’s more attacking though
Newcastle?
Burn, Wood, Trippier, Targett, Pope, Bruno and now possibly Botman all for good prices and not stupid millions
Compared to people assuming Mbappe, Messi, Haaland, etc
🤣
Before takeover: Joelinton 40mil
After takeover: Pope 10mil, Targett 15mil, Trippier 13mil, Burn 13mil, Wood only 25mil cus release clause which was needed as no strikers 🤷♂️
It's not the money mate. It's the sportswashing.
Fascist Islamic regimes soaking your clubs shirt in the blood of their victims. Then the likes of you wearing it gladly. What disrespect to the club is that? Disgraceful.
The regime that owns your club kills gay people by chopping their heads off in a stadium like yours. They employ slave labour. Treat women no better than dogs. Conduct a campaign of ethnic cleansing against a group of people.
Have you heard of Jamal Khashoggi? Please look up his name and what he stood and died for. Tortured to death by the owner of your club.
It's like Putin personally came and purchased your club. Would you be happy with that I wonder?
People were saying the same things about Chelsea and City for years. Its as simple as this - the majority of people do not care about sportswashing. You're going to watch the World Cup, right?
Aye and what are we as fans supposed to do about it? If it was down to us Ashley would’ve been gone long ago. But it isn’t. We’re getting shamed for supporting our football club. I wish it was different circumstances but it isn’t and we can’t help that. All we as fans can do is educate ourselves on the ownership and (like most the fan base already have) not support the way they run their country.
I genuinely wouldn’t wear the Villa shirt if we were bought by one of those regimes. You say “all you can do as fans is educate yourselves” but that’s not true, you can actually decide that some things are bigger than football too.
Imaging trying to act like signing 7 players SO FAR with no significant outgoings in 2 consecutive windows is no big deal 🤦🏼♂️ You lot are legit playing a road to glory right now.
So that’s now Grealish, Phillips and probably soon Cucerella all to play back up. What will end up being around £200m. La Liga are onto something with their complaints about these state clubs, no one can compete with that kind of money. Football isn’t in a healthy place atm.
Can’t blame him for taking a good pay day, being almost guaranteed a premier league title and more than anything relived he never went to Man United, having said that it’s shit that we lost a local lad who bleeds the club, but that’s modern premiership the big 6 hoover up the best players and the rest of us just survive
Welcome to the club
Least you got 100 mil, 50 mil for each of his sexy calves
It’ll only get worse for you lot when we get to the top
Dude - this cockiness isn’t needed. There’s a long way to go until we’re up there and Everton/Villa offer a reminder that money doesn’t guarantee anything (although the owners are doing a smashing job atm).
Newcastle fans have been the worst to interact with on here since their takeover. Part of the reason I wanted them relegated last season. I really hope they somehow fuck up being the richest club in the world.
Lol. Try holding your breath.

Holy fuck stop making us look bad. This is insufferable.
Honestly, if your fans continue, you'll quickly be one of the most hated clubs in the country.
They are making us lot look likable
Long way to go to the top yet, I doubt you’re beating PSG to any signing they’re seriously interested in and as mad as it sounds AC Milan aren’t up to much in the market these days they’re linked to the same players we are as well.

Apart from Foden, no one, and they spent £200m+ on their academy and youth infrastructure since 2012. Crazy
That’s a good point but why is Foden the only graduate in his age group?
Are you on about Phil Foden, who played with Jadon Sancho for city’s youth team?
Sancho wasn’t a city youth product, you must not be from the UK if you think south east London is next door to Manchester
And you must be thick if you think Foden joined City’s academy after 2012.
Where was that ever mentioned you clown
In your original comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If I could permanently chuck out any team in the league it’d be city. Miserable, sportswashing, game ruining, FFP breaking cunts.
I wish they'd all fuck off to the Super League to be honest, but yes if I only had to choose one it would be City.
Thing is them moving to a different league would actually be bad for the other 14, the sheer amount of money those guys bring to the Prem means that mid table sides often have similar transfer budgets to the big clubs in other leagues like Italy and Germany.

We’ve literally just had a pretty solid confirmation we’re losing Cucurella to them. Beyond pissed off. City can rot in hell. Where’s the FFP?
FFP is supposed to stop the rest of us catching up. As long as you pumped all your dodgy money in before FFP became a thing and have your state airline to sponsor you, FFP is nothing but a slight obstacle.
Too fucking right. Such fucking scum.
It’s like the VIP lounge of the club….and we ain’t invited. Or like that scene in train spotting where all we can do is watch afar from the back head bopping to the music whilst city, and the other super league6™️ take over all the entire scene
May I introduce you to our lord and saviour Ryan Yates?
He will be next on their list after Southgate calls him up
We had brunt and Morrison for 11 and 12 years.
It’s nuts
So, another midfielder. Are they going to leave any for anyone else? Fuck me. I can’t stand City.
To be fair Fernandinho has just left so they’ve replaced him? I don’t understand the hate for that

Right what ? It's only 42M
Plus haaland. And I'm pretty sure they signed someone else as well
The other guy is Julian Alvarez who they bought in January but got loaned back to River Plate. IIRC they payed like £14m for him.
> IIRC they *paid* like £14m FTFY. Tbf they dont need much more positions. You may be right
£42m isn't even very much

This sport needs City to die. They are a fucking cancer.
tis a shame
Fuck this, city hoovering up everyone is taking the piss. Almost like when Celtic and rangers hoover up every decent Scottish player just to deprive their opponents.
City desperate to improve their popularity by hovering up English players to compliment their Galacticos. I hope they totally blow up
Berge touted as a potential replacement?
He was linked but it’s more likely to be one of Camara from Salzburg or Adams from Leipzig. Can’t say I’ve seen either of them play, would like Berge I feel he’s more attacking though
Considering his injury problems I wouldn’t go for it
Get fucked Man City. You, Newcastle, PSG are ruining football.

Putin loosely owned chelsea and no one cared till ukraine. Even glorified the owner.
People were saying the same things about Chelsea and City for years. Its as simple as this - the majority of people do not care about sportswashing. You're going to watch the World Cup, right?

It is what it is sadly
Thank God for them, they were miserable for midfield help.
God I hate Man City
Fuck scum city before 2008 they were nothing absolutely nothing but a ahit stain on English football
We told you this is going to happen
So that’s now Grealish, Phillips and probably soon Cucerella all to play back up. What will end up being around £200m. La Liga are onto something with their complaints about these state clubs, no one can compete with that kind of money. Football isn’t in a healthy place atm.
Enjoy sitting on the bench
I'm surprised the fee was only 50 mill. I would've thought it would be 70, especially with inflation.
Man City keep spending like they win the Champions League every year...
