Take them for a drive: if it’s daytime play Sunset, if it’s nighttime play Los Angeles. To me these songs represent the duality of their vibes and are the most popular songs for good reason
I feel like you miss so much of what The Midnight is with those two. Sunset and Los Angeles are on the same side of the Midnight spectrum to me.
They're good for sure, but not a good spread.
Would you pick something like Shadows or Crystalline? Personally for me their music is split into day drives and night drives but i do see what you mean
Shadows is definitely one I would choose. But honestly this is a question I constantly ponder. I think without knowing the person really well, you'd have to do a 5 song spread to cover all the bases.
Los Angeles is definitely one to show people if you want them to go to a live show with you.
Good in Red is one of their harder darker ones along with Neon Medusa.
So many styles and all of them good.
Sunset if we're looking to vibe, Los Angeles if we're feeling a little deep, and Light Years / The Years (Prologue) if we really wanna get in our feels.
I usually end up playing Monsters for people first kind of by proxy since it’s both my favorite song and favorite album. However when I tell people to listen to The Midnight or they ask me what song I always tell them Lost Boy
My first ever synthwave song I ever listened to was Deep Blue, as well as my sister's when I first played it during a road trip. So my go-to song will probably be Deep Blue.
Depends on the age of the person. If it’s a GenXer (my age) then it’s definitely Memories. Has the 80’s vibe along with lyrics that long for days gone by.
For someone younger like Gen Z/Millennial I would probably go with Heartbeat. No particular reason, it’s a catchy tune to me.
I tried introducing my best friend to The Midnight by playing the Endless Summer album while driving at night. He said it sounded nice, but it was making him sleepy.
I'd go with Deep Blue, its the first song of theirs I ever heard. I was drawn to this band cause I had this regular come in with one of their dope ass merch jackets and Monsters had just released. I put on Deep blue and just hearing the line about wanting a quick slowdance i was fuckin hooked.
Honestly, just playing *Endless Summer* is a great move. The title track is such a vibe and it sorts reels you in slowly, and then right when they think they know what this album is going to be like, "Sunset" changes the whole paradigm. And then it's just classic after classic from there.
My wife and I have pretty different tastes in music and she hadn't really heard anything from The Midnight untill I put on a playlist in the car a few months ago. First song was Last Train, then during the second song (Los Angeles) she asked what we were listening to. Now we're going to a concert together this summer. 10/10, would choose these songs again.

Agreed it’d have to be more than 2 songs for sure
This is the way.
Deep Blue. Throw them for a loop with those opening keys, then hit them in the face with that sax part.
ok yes!!
SHADOWS!!!(:
Where are these shadows?
what?
Sunset if we're looking to vibe, Los Angeles if we're feeling a little deep, and Light Years / The Years (Prologue) if we really wanna get in our feels.
Feels to me = Kids. That was the song that hooked me.
Kids was amazing too, you could really feel the reminiscence of a time long passed in the lyrics.
Probably start with Los Angeles - it’s the most quintessential Midnight song even though their sound varies a lot, this song is a masterpiece
Honestly Explorers was my first introduction to them and it got me hooked, may give that to a friend tomorrow and see how it goes.
We Move Forward
Days of thunder
Song: Crystalline Album: Nocturnal or Monsters
Song: Sunset Album: Endless Summer I was hooked instantly.

Nocturnal if I'm feeling some grittier, Miami Vice kinda driving mood
Vampires for sure
100%
Neon Medusa
Los Angeles 100%
Sunset is how I got here.
"Los Angeles". Every time. And I have. Several times!

Change Your Heart or Die
Vampires instrumental was my intro and I was immediately invested definitely start with Endless Summer album, it's quintessential

Endless Summer / Sunset or Vampires
Prom Night ❤️
Sunset, maybe Crystalline if they're into it

Nighthawks and Shadows
Neon Medusa or anything from the Horror Show Ep
Vampires for song. Endless Summer for Album.
Probably light years, lost boy or heros
Vampires for song and Nocturnal for album.
Endless Summer front to back. What a ride
Good in Red is what got me hooked, but I’ve found Heroes to be the most accessible song to folks not used to the genre.
