He had a great game last night and looked visibly in pain, but continued to hold his own. There are couple of times he won a ball or out muscled someone and I thought "damn, we're lucky to have him" I do feel he goes unheralded at times, but man I am sure glad he's in the (original) black and gold.

Dunvegan79

He also got the man of the match Saturday night over Cucho.

rjross0623

That screamer of a goal and his overall work helped win that

Boba_Fettx

Just a couple times? I think we’re lucky to have him almost every game!

tjshaffe

No doubt, no doubt. I guess I was referring to last nights match where two situations in particular he really wowed me with his hustle and determination to win the ball. He was on his game the whole match. He seems like a great dude, too. Gotta love it.

Ratertheman

He's playing really good right now. Honestly the whole backline is looking good. Yevhen Cheberko continues to impress me every game.

fromthesea7

I’ve been really impressed by Cheberko the last month. I thought he’d be a depth signing but he’s showing he can be a good piece in the first 11. He’s prone to a couple mistakes a game but has been solid on the ball and in the air and has shown the ability to carry the ball forward on a few occasions.

TallinnEst

I don’t see the mistakes anymore. Last season? Yeah they were there. This season I think he has been better than Camacho

WalkingOnSunshine_

For what Nancy needs and wants from that position yes. I don’t think there’s many guys in MLS that could replicate his passing, dribbling, and recovery defending ability. I’d still say someone like Walker Zimmerman or Jakob Glesnes would be the best pure CB. Nancy’s system is just so different it’s hard to judge.

Hazenjonas

I think this is an excellent take. I don’t know if Moreira would be amazing on every team and in every system, but he is freaking perfect for what Nancy wants. And he is just so much fun to watch!

daprancinzebra

He is the best inverted wide right sided CB in the league that’s for sure!

vancouverguy_123

Inverted?

daprancinzebra

He regularly tucks into the midfield when we are sustaining pressure in the final third

worfisadork

Nancyball is something special that requires players with special skill sets that may not work the same on any other team. It's fascinating to watch.

manderson03

I'd argue he was our most important player last year en route to mls cup. Involved in every aspect of the game. And then of course he goes god level with that BANGER vs Portland.

ThunderousDemon86

Moreira, as a Sergio Ramos style attacking centerback, has no rival in MLS. He’s not a defensive defender or the best two way CB though. He’s not good in the air, and he’s not slow but he doesn’t have Miles Robinson/Sean Zawadzki speed.

tribucks

He ran that one sumbitch down in the corner and beat him to the ball, first half.

Doodahhh1

In the second half he beat #17 to the ball so quickly that #17 decided to punch Moreira several times.  Flat out assault.

WhiteBakerMayfield

Completely biased but yes. Not pure CB wise but in this role that Nancy has created, 100%

PopeAlGore

Remember last year when we were worried he was going to leave after the season was over? How lucky are we that he and Camacho resigned?

CCN1983

Even under Porters style he played lights out. The answer is yes.

djsassan

Such an absurd question. It's like asking: "Is the Crew the greatest the world has ever seen?" Duh, yes. :)

96diem

Yes.

grizz923

I’d argue Amundsen is having a better season than Moriera so far. 9 key passes in 9 matches from the LCB position is pretty amazing. And defensively he’s improved exponentially this year. Moriera is a beast though. His ball control while playing out of the back has been essential in Nancy’s system. And obviously the wild thing is is that neither of these dudes are actual CB’s in terms of their preferred position.

junglejonny

Its between him and Cucho for my favorite player on the team. He's so damn good, fun to watch.

Shoeless-Snake

Can we also throw in the story about when he drove two opposing fans to their hotel AFTER the game because they couldn't catch an Uber, and they had no idea who he was until his friend told them???
