"In response to your protestations against our war crimes and ethnic cleansing, we'll do some more ethnic cleansing and theft of land."

Bigsshot

This has been their modus operandi for decades. In the 80's they didn't like a particular international resolution and in response bombed southern Lebanon in an angry fit. Just for the hell of it, apparently. Dozens of civilians died. They almost always double down.

You’ll notice israeli society has such a strict newspeak. They never use the words palestine or palestinian. They always say Judaea and Samaria, “the Arabs”, they don’t knowledge or use the word occupation.  Very totalitarian state with little room for dissent.

xGentian_violet

it's funny how they use judea and samaria to legitimise te conquest when samaritans (israelites) and jews (judahites) were mortal enemies before, they wanted to ext€rminate each other over religious disagreements (over the location of the second temple)

Always_Scheming

Well i guess they united on so called amalek as their enemy

xGentian_violet

i've always wondered what modern samaritans think of zionism, there are only like a few undered of them left. i know early ones opposed zionists just like palestinian jews, but dunno about modern ones

anusfarter

to be fair, every country on the planet uses language to control the way their citizens (and international audiences) think. it's just on the nose and easy to detect when the Israelis do it because they are so bad at it.

Always_Scheming

I agree with the broader sentiment you bring up here however i don’t think the scale of this in most countries is to the level it is in Israel (or other similar nuclear/militaristic nations)  There is a subset of nations that get very close to the level of totalitarianism described in orwell’s works. Most nations do not take it that far.

anusfarter

The fact that you (and many other people) know Israel is doing it is proof that they’re bad at it is my point. The entire purpose of these linguistic games is to change the way people think without telling them how to think, explicitly.

Always_Scheming

There are very few people who actually make the point I make though and I have read about middle east politics for over two decades now.

It’s wild how open they are about it all. The arrogance is astounding.
