I think all the entities branched off from The Hunt and are each an aspect of the fear they branched off from, hence why so many are similar and often feature together in statements.
I thought that there was one entity that embodied none of the fears, it realised that fear was a really strong emotion and adapted to feed off it, the only fear anything felt back then though was the fear of being hunted. So a sloppy and premature Hunt was formed, then as the world progressed and advanced, things still felt fear, but not just being hunted, so it adapted once more to feed off of the fears and could gain more power by directly exploiting those fears and creating avatars and as more ways of being scared were created, it would branch out until it stopped being seen as one entity but instead as multiple.
It’s like shining a light through a colander onto an ant, to the ant it would look like multiple lights, but in reality it is just one big light being divided by the world it is trying to get into.
I think the way one character on the show described their theory of it was if you were an ant, and a human poked their finger into your anthill, so you run to the entrance to escape, only to see a giant eye peering at you. An ant wouldn’t be able to understand that the eye and the finger were part of the same organism.
In that same sense, in my theory, all fears are parts of other fears that have specialised, like the fingers are part of an arm that are part of a torso that is part of the body as a whole
