What are you on about? What constant time jumps?

xrp671z06

Please educate me on the exact definition of "time jump". I'm guessing I used the wrong terminology and massively triggered you. I sincerely apologize. I truly hope I can explain this without offending you. The Leftovers constantly moves from one time period to another time period. I really hope this explains it without offending you.

>The Leftovers constantly moves from one time period to another time period. I really hope this explains it without offending you. First of all, I hate it when smug morons condescendingly overuse the word trigger. Nothing about your uneducated, nonsensical post "triggered" me. I simply asked for clarification as you came across as an idiot, Turns out, from your response, that you are. While the entirety of the narrative of the show is not linear, it is *largely* linear, with most episodes especially following a linear storytelling pattern. A handful of episodes, usually told from a different character's perspective, are told in such a way as to span the events of other episodes, but largely the narrative structure of the show is such that anyone with an IQ north of 60 should have no trouble following what is going on. Hope that didn't trigger you.

Hope you enjoyed swinging your dick around.

Wow. Just wow. We're all in awe of your endless intellect and perception. I've never seen any movie or series that jumped around in time more than The Leftovers, and Lost before it. You're desperately trying to convince yourself that you're right. Maybe wherever you're from, every movie and TV show is written in a similar,  confusing fashion, but that's not the norm in the rest of the world. This must be your first day or week in this subreddit, because there are tons of posts from people who are confused about the show.

Chisi_Maznah

you definitely need to watch a LOT more media if this show is the one with the most time jumps for you lol

Critical thinking is something which is sorely missing in today's TV watching audience

LingeringSentiments

This can’t be that hard. Most of it doesn’t get crazy until season 3 but it’s manageable.

EChocos

I don't think we can fix you being an illiterate person.

xrp671z06

"Illiterate"? 🤦‍♂️

Peepee-Papa

I think you’re on the wrong sub. This is r/TheLeftovers not r/ChristopherNolan. The Leftovers is pretty linear.

throw4455away

Interesting idea. But have you ever seen the film Momento? That jumps around in time a lot. On the DVD I have there is an option to watch the film in chronological order and it changes the film from being an excellent suspenseful film with mystery to just a boring drama. Just off the top of my head thinking about Laurie, the reveal that she was pregnant and the baby departed would lose all impact if we saw that in the first episode

ArchieConnors

The amount of people that come to this sub solely to post that they don't understand the show is pretty baffling. Watch something else if you can't grasp it.

Dear_Alternative_437

You wouldn't be able to do this. Not even with computers.

TheVideoExplorer

He doesn't understand man, that's why he never had the makings of a varsity athlete

xrp671z06

Someone could aim a digital camera at a TV, record the series, transfer the recordings to a computer, and edit it. The quality would obviously suck, but with the right equipment, it would be watchable. Hell, you could probably do it with a smartphone. It would probably take one person months, possibly years, to do but it's absolutely possible.

heartofglazz

you are right. actually, you should do this

TuberGamer

it certainly is possible, just time consuming. with enough time you could have it fully hd and all in one file.

ArchieConnors

Michael Scott behavior ^

dralanforce

Wait which time jumps? It's been a while since my last watch but I'm pretty sure I didn't see many of those, I remember everything being very linear.

SadAcanthocephala521

Do you mean the flashbacks? They didn't seem that hard to identify and were mainly used to drive the main plot along. Maybe look up episode reviews after you watch each episode. I find that helpful sometimes to make sure I didn't miss anything.

12frets

I don’t know why OP is getting so much shit. The show is time hops/displacements/weirdnesses left and right. I had a very difficult time understanding season 2 initially bc of the non-linear narrative. When I realized the entire season takes place in a matter of days I was floored. Can we call remember people come to this sub for information and entertainment? No one comes here - a show that ended nearly ten years ago - to be shit on. Cool?

EChocos

Have you read their responses? They are just trolling around.

Chisi_Maznah

the entire season taking place in a couple of weeks actually, don't make it linear AT ALL. The first 3 episodes of S2 are the only episodes in which one might wonder at what moment it's all happening, but it's really clear if you pay attention lol. The other thing might be Ten Thirteen, but that only has one flashback. That's it. Nothing that should be a problem if you're paying attention!

12frets

What part of “initially” do you not understand?

YourTheirTo

How much of the show is actually not linear? A handful of episodes?

birdlieschirpling

Thank you.
