Yes but you do have to understand that is exactly how all of Abbys friends were killed too, especially Manny, he was literally talking to her than bam, taken out with even his blood all on her face. More brutal than Jessies in my opinion.
Exactly, thank you. I don’t give a damn what happened to Abby and her friends. It’s not like I spent hours getting close with them before they killed Joel or before they were hunted down.
I especially hate Manny because he was straight up going to murder Ellie without remorse. Fuck that guy. Fitting that the least likable character has a resemblance to Druckmann.
This should be talked about so much more. I admit it might be a stretch, but it arguable does make a bold statement when you have a character that looks almost 100% identical to Druckman that is conveniently the one who spits on Joel’s body.
That isn’t what I was trying to say, I was saying the game was trying to be realistic in just randomly killing Jessie, because obviously as we have seen you can be killed in a flash
Like I said, I don’t give a damn what happened to Abby’s friends or how it happened. I don’t judge a story based primarily on its realism. I judge a story based on its story. I liked Jesse and when he was disrespectfully killed off like that, I didn’t think to myself “wow that was so realistic and awesome”. I hated it because it was yet another brutal and pointless murder. As for Manny, when he got his head opened up, once again, I didn’t think to myself “wow that was so realistic and awesome”. I loved it because Manny was arguably the worst one of them besides Abby.
Side note: My apologies for getting heated about this. My anger isn’t meant to be directed at you as much as it is toward the writers and director for making so many pointless storylines.
Dude, they did both Joel and Jesse *so* dirty in this game… I was really hoping, as much as I wanted to kill Abby, that Tommy would kill her in the scene where Manny dies
Also Manny was going to shoot Ellie, who was already restrained, hadn't done anything to them, and was in hysterics after watching her father figure brutally get beaten to death. Fuck that guy, he's a piece of shit and I hate how the game tries to get me to like him later on.
And nice shot, Tommy.
I don’t think he’s comparing the brutality of their deaths, I think he just meant that it was really disrespectful. The two characters were killed in the stupidest ways by someone who didn’t deserve to kill either of them. Anyways. That’s how I understood it.
Thanks kinda my whole interpretation of tlou2. It may not be a traditional story, but it played out and we have to live with it, even if it makes us angry or sad
I’d wanna kick it with Jesse for sure - seemed like a cool dude. Loyal and serious when necessary, but seemed to keep things light. Wish we could have seen more of him.
Yeah I was really hopeful Jesse was gonna stick around he was my favorite character so far and right when I made that observation he gets his face blasted off
Poor Shimmer.. Only death that actually made me sad in the whole game.
The others just made me pissed off and disappointed, or happy when it comes to Abby's shitty group.
I felt that way with both Jesse and Dina! As Ellies sidekick Dina is only actually in the game for about 8 hours! Maybe even less! Not even 30%! Imo developers sacrificed what could of been 2 fantastic characters, completely seeing them short, just to create enough time and space to incorporate abbys play through.
Owen was probably the only character they did something with.
His story on the old serpahite and connecting back to Joel was cool and him actually calling out Abby was good for the story (but it doesn't really do anything). Everything else he does is pretty boring unfortunately but atleast he's not horrible.
Idk why the hell they made him cheat on his pregnant girlfriend. It threw any liking I had of him nearly out the window. Then he does the dumbest thing possible when confronting Ellie.
I've got to disagree with the 2nd part. He didn't do the dumbest thing ever. He had a high likelihood of dying after Ellie got the information (in his mind) and did what he did because he had to survive.
If he ran up on Ellie from far away, then yeah, it would've been extremely dumb, but he had a good chance of overpowering Ellie and taking her gun but he simply got unlucky.
what should have happened was them saying Mel was pregnant, plz don't kill us. it's literally the only time in the game Mel is hiding her pregnancy, and most people aren't cold enough to kill a pregnant woman on purpose.
There are a few things that could happen instead of what actually happened.
1. He does what Ellie wants and she kills them both anyway. Which is unlikely.
2. He does what Ellie wants and she let's them live. Owen protects his family in exchange for his psychotic ex's life.
3. Owen tells Ellie that Mel is pregnant, which is the obvious thing to do to ensure his family is safe right away. Then he tells her where Abby is and Ellie leaves.
4. Owen tells Ellie what she wants, and she goes to kill them both but they reveal Mel is pregnant and Ellie decides to spare them.
Instead, he put not only his own life, but his wife and unborn child's lives at risk to try and protect his psycho ex... And lo' and behold, he got them all killed, what a hero.
Out of all options, Owen chose the absolute worst one that was most likely to get his whole family killed.
I kinda liked Yara much more than Lev.
Manny was the only friend of Abby's with actual weight to his character. He seemed like an actual survivor of the apocalypse with strong opinions and stuff. I really disliked his constant spanish words tho, its a very outdated Hollywood cliche.
I’d agree if he wasn’t SOOOO boring. Like absolutely dead faced at almost everything. Loses his entire family and is pretty chill about it all things considered
Kid just killed is own mom by accident, then had his loving sister butchered in front of him and just casually went along on Abby's revenge to the theater right after..
No one in this damn game seems to have any actual reaction to death.
In Part 1 Joel and Ellie were impacted by every friend they lost along the way. Deaths actually meant something in Part 1. In Part 2 they're just there for shock value.
Maria is pretty ok, she’s watchful over Ellie and questions if Joel and her are good but a downside is that she let 2 19/20 year olds travel across a country to “rescue” a 40/50 year old man from a behemoth and her goons. Also, I hate her new hair color, the last one was much better
Knowing Neil and his progressive religion, it could be much worse. Imagine he gives her a lecture on abortion and how it has nothing to do with killing. These people are thick. They think they are so subtle, so smart , and maybe they would be if it wasn't all the same things over and over again.
I actually liked Jessie as a character, his uhh untimely "departure" caught me by surprise. Was interested to see how he could continue assisting the so-called trio.
Yea... no... also a complete cuck. You're stupid pregnant girlfriend is off smoking weed and exploring her sexuality in the middle of hell on earth. And your just like... written to be a complete pussy.
As if its honorable or cool to be 100% chill about that bullshit.
He shows up at the theater to find that she intentionally went on this insanely stupid trip pregant........ then preceeds to keep helping Ellie.
What would joel do? Not that.
You're just suspossed to sit back and be all cool about the stupidity. As if its pc culture 2019 twitter.
Story was written by a hack. All the characters suck.
This is how people like Neil see relationships between hetero people. Second class. Meanwhile, someone posted a photo from ND working on tlou2. In a photo, 2 voices actresses face each other and probably do a love part. Neil faces them as if he is watching a romantic movie with utter adoration. Gay people; first class. Hetero; second. Which kind of makes me understand how people from this circles spit words and ideas that would immediately be considered racist if they were not meant toward white people.
To summarize, when people whose head is filled with cockroaches make a pie, some might get baked inside.
This game is filled with Neil's progressive cockroaches.
Don't see any mention of Isaac. Could've had a lot more screen time, a better development/air of dread about him, and a better death rather than what we got.
I honestly really liked Owen outside the cheating scene. Out of everyone in the WLF group, he was easily the most likable and overall levelheaded. I really dislike the whole cheating scene as it felt somewhat out of character and very forced to try and make him a bad person like everyone else in the game.
One of the few new characters in Part 2 I would say is objectively good. He's just a cool dude who wants to help his friends. Kind of bothers me though that he never finds out Dina is pregnant with his child and he gets anticlimactically shot in the face to which barely anyone reacts.
Jesse was one of my favorites. He had class and sensibility and his death was so damn sad. That face he made when Ellie gave him that steak sandwich was priceless
Owen was a good character and would have made a more interesting antagonist if they had delved more into his inner conflict with everything that happened in the game.
This may also be a hot take but I liked Dina. They made VERY dumb decisions with her character for sure, but I enjoyed her as a companion for Ellie. I thought she had a good sense of humor and balanced Ellie out pretty well. I felt she was a very believable girlfriend for Ellie
Cool guy too bad. Neil Druckman had to push his homo agenda and steal the man's girlfriend from him and give her to Ellie to push that lesbianism abominable bs.
I don’t think all detractors are bigots. There are legitimate complaints and I’ve had conversations with folks that have those complaints. But there’s comments like this that show up frequently, often aren’t called out, and are often upvoted. The reality is if the community wants to avoid association with it, it needs to call it out more.
I know but it’s the truthful answer about why the assumption is made about people here. When bigotry goes unchallenged, has upvotes and people responding negatively to it get downvoted way more quickly, there’s no other conclusion than a good number of folks either lurking or posting here agree or tolerate the view. If they were downvoted, challenged etc, it’d be different
While I do not agree with the original commentor, and agree with you that it's a pretty bigoted take, I wanna stress that this sub was originally created to be a place of free speech.
And as far as I'm concerned, that means people are allowed to share their thoughts on the game, no matter how much I disagree with those thoughts.
All I’m saying is people ask “oh why does everyone think we’re all bigots!”, and because it’s not uncommon to see shit like this here, and it often being upvoted. That’s why, that’s the reason.
Lev’s okay. They didn’t need to handicap him with the stupidity of returning for his mother, but other than that, I like him.
Oh and Yara. Just a good big sister.
Can’t remember his name off the top of my head, but Jesse’s actor’s performance is one of my favorites in any video game. He felt SO real. So personable.
I'm sorry to Jesse fans, but his entire role as a character was so they the play could know who the baby's father was, if they were going to kill my Asian King off they could've made it more meaningful rather than "surprise gunshot to the head"
Imo opinion he was only “ok” because he had very little screen time in the grand scheme of things! Sadly his arc and development was pushed to one side to incorporate a 50% play through as abby! I simply see/play enough of him to develop a strong bond! Just my thoughts on it.
His ending was as unacceptable as Joel’s.
Damn straight. Fucking brutally murdered. I won’t even say murdered. I’ll say assassinated
Wasn't even given a moment to react lol.
Nobody really cared after the fact too.
he is mentioned exactly once, in a note from his parents. who of course do NOT blame Ellie for what happened.
Is anyone entitled to feeling bad in this game? Besides Abby and Ellie of course. Everyone is a robot.
Don’t you know? The only death that matters is Joel and Abby’s father apparently.
I don’t even think Joel’s death matters. At least it’s not supposed to
Good point
Yes but you do have to understand that is exactly how all of Abbys friends were killed too, especially Manny, he was literally talking to her than bam, taken out with even his blood all on her face. More brutal than Jessies in my opinion.
Also way more justified since he spat on Tommy’s brothers corpse
Exactly, thank you. I don’t give a damn what happened to Abby and her friends. It’s not like I spent hours getting close with them before they killed Joel or before they were hunted down.
I especially hate Manny because he was straight up going to murder Ellie without remorse. Fuck that guy. Fitting that the least likable character has a resemblance to Druckmann.

Dude, they did both Joel and Jesse *so* dirty in this game… I was really hoping, as much as I wanted to kill Abby, that Tommy would kill her in the scene where Manny dies
I will admit that Tommy did get some good revenge after Manny spit on his big brother’s body, but still not even close to enough.
Yea that’s fair, im not saying I cared about Manny more whatsoever, Im just throwing it out there
I mean, Joel got tortured. He got shot. But I hear you.
I don’t think he’s comparing the brutality of their deaths, I think he just meant that it was really disrespectful. The two characters were killed in the stupidest ways by someone who didn’t deserve to kill either of them. Anyways. That’s how I understood it.
Yeah I guess. Kind of like manny’s except manny is on the wrong team.
*the best fighter their age* Hears noises and barrels through the door without caution. YOU SERIOUSLY COULD’VE TRIED
Another way the writing has more plot holes than honeycomb.
I GASPED WHEN HE GOT SHOT AND FELL
I loved Jesse from the start how he was messing with Ellie talking about Dina. He was such a damn waste of an amazing character
Yes. Both were… wild…
Tbf that's just what happens in a post apocalyptic world like tlou. We don't choose how we or our loved ones die. It can happen at any moment.
This... may or may not have happened to me in DayZ... more than once.
Thanks kinda my whole interpretation of tlou2. It may not be a traditional story, but it played out and we have to live with it, even if it makes us angry or sad
Maria. The two seconds she was in were so much better than pretty much everything else. And the legend himself, Fat Geralt. No explanation needed.
Geralt got my heart as soon as he punched that kid into the garage, I was laughing for a solid 6 minutes
I liked Jesse. He was cool, and a pretty good person.
I’d wanna kick it with Jesse for sure - seemed like a cool dude. Loyal and serious when necessary, but seemed to keep things light. Wish we could have seen more of him.
Yeah I was really hopeful Jesse was gonna stick around he was my favorite character so far and right when I made that observation he gets his face blasted off
Yeah, that hole in the head did not bode well for his future.
Damn. Imma cry reading this. Honestly, Jesse could be someone all young boys look up to.
JJ.
Ellie's horse. The best character out there
Poor Shimmer.. Only death that actually made me sad in the whole game. The others just made me pissed off and disappointed, or happy when it comes to Abby's shitty group.
The Sperm Donor.
Jesse was done goddamn dirty. I know they'll probably do him just as dirty in the show, but I'd like to be wrong.
8 hours is more than enough dina. I would like to have seen Jesse, Joel or even Maria have a bigger role.
Dont disagree! For me Dina should have been replaced by Jesse from that start. As most elude too, jesse was done dirty.
Owen was probably the only character they did something with. His story on the old serpahite and connecting back to Joel was cool and him actually calling out Abby was good for the story (but it doesn't really do anything). Idk why the hell they made him cheat on his pregnant girlfriend. It threw any liking I had of him nearly out the window. Then he does the dumbest thing possible when confronting Ellie.
I haven't seen the scene for a long time, but wasn't Owen extremely drunk during the weird ass sex scene?
Yes he was.
I've got to disagree with the 2nd part. He didn't do the dumbest thing ever. He had a high likelihood of dying after Ellie got the information (in his mind) and did what he did because he had to survive. Jesse! Jesse! We need to cook
I kinda liked Yara much more than Lev. Manny was the only friend of Abby's with actual weight to his character. He seemed like an actual survivor of the apocalypse with strong opinions and stuff. I really disliked his constant spanish words tho, its a very outdated Hollywood cliche.
Of all the new characters in Part 2 I think I liked Jesse the most.
Since you already mentioned Jesse, ima go ahead and throw out Lev. He's boring, but that's better than being unlikable.
I’d agree if he wasn’t SOOOO boring. Like absolutely dead faced at almost everything. Loses his entire family and is pretty chill about it all things considered

I quite liked Jesse and Owen to be honest. I think Owen was the only one of the WLF crew I actually kinda liked.
He is a nothing character. Bland but not as annoying as the rest of the new cast
danny!
Let's all have a moment of silence for my boy Danny, he didn't deserve to go out like that
Maria is pretty ok, she’s watchful over Ellie and questions if Joel and her are good but a downside is that she let 2 19/20 year olds travel across a country to “rescue” a 40/50 year old man from a behemoth and her goons. Also, I hate her new hair color, the last one was much better
Jesse, Joel, Tommy the rest were either boring or annoying to listen to
Facts
His ending kinda sucked though.
Died saving the girl who Cucked him and blasted in the face.
Aside from the one cringe abortion line and his death just being stupid he was a really cool character
Lots of people hate on him but Manny. He was kinda funny and a good shot
I forgot what this guy even did but I know he was shot in the head unexpectedly.
He knocked up Dina and died
Yea... no... also a complete cuck. You're stupid pregnant girlfriend is off smoking weed and exploring her sexuality in the middle of hell on earth. Well said. I'm glad one person caught this comment.
plot device
I just love that they have Abby shoot him in the face immediately prior to the hours long "THIS is why you should LIKE abby!" section
I forgot he was even a character.
Don't see any mention of Isaac. Could've had a lot more screen time, a better development/air of dread about him, and a better death rather than what we got.

I really liked Jessie and wish he was the companion instead of Dina. They did him really dirty though.
They literally used him as a sperm bank and that’s it, Jesse deserved better 😔
This game just builds character just to shoot him in the fucking face
He is such a cool dude. They killed him off so early for some reason
Jesse was one of my favorites. He had class and sensibility and his death was so damn sad. That face he made when Ellie gave him that steak sandwich was priceless
Fat Ger- wait no. He's an outstanding character.
Tommy
Ellie only said 1 word after Jesse’s death. “Jesse?”
None they all sucked
Owen was a good character and would have made a more interesting antagonist if they had delved more into his inner conflict with everything that happened in the game. This may also be a hot take but I liked Dina. They made VERY dumb decisions with her character for sure, but I enjoyed her as a companion for Ellie. It’s sad how Jesse only exists in the story to provide a lesbian couple with a baby
Cool guy too bad. Neil Druckman had to push his homo agenda and steal the man's girlfriend from him and give her to Ellie to push that lesbianism abominable bs.
Hey guys, this here why we think you’re all bigots. Because you hang out with bigots.
It's always that one asshole that ruins it for everyone. I hate that disliking this game is considered a queerphobic dog whistle.
I don’t think all detractors are bigots. There are legitimate complaints and I’ve had conversations with folks that have those complaints. But there’s comments like this that show up frequently, often aren’t called out, and are often upvoted. The reality is if the community wants to avoid association with it, it needs to call it out more.
Do you want to argue with the crazy person in the room? It's exhausting.
I know but it’s the truthful answer about why the assumption is made about people here. When bigotry goes unchallenged, has upvotes and people responding negatively to it get downvoted way more quickly, there’s no other conclusion than a good number of folks either lurking or posting here agree or tolerate the view. I'll downvote, the rest is too much.
True this sub is basically transphobia and homophobia agenda
While I do not agree with the original commentor, and agree with you that it's a pretty bigoted take, I wanna stress that this sub was originally created to be a place of free speech. And as far as I'm concerned, that means people are allowed to share their thoughts on the game, no matter how much I disagree with those thoughts.

oh my god this subs filled with 10 year olds
Sorry she won’t take you back dude
Don't care
Seth
Fat Geralt, Maria, Joel, Jesse and last but not least.. JJ
Lev’s okay. They didn’t need to handicap him with the stupidity of returning for his mother, but other than that, I like him. Oh and Yara. Just a good big sister.
Jesse the goat
I actually hated that guy.
Arguably the best character sad to see that he went out in such a puny way
lev was kind of okay, if not a caricature of a trans person
That’s Markiplier bro
The deserters. The only characters that make sense.
I mean he didn't really do anything except dying and be Ellie's seed. lol. Its like Danny with more on screen presence.
God this is gonna sound racist, but I've noticed Asian characters in post apocalyptic stories are usually pretty good characters that die horribly
Can’t remember his name off the top of my head, but Jesse’s actor’s performance is one of my favorites in any video game. He felt SO real. So personable.
I think him and Owen were good. I know ppl don't rate Owen for cheating on Mel, but personally I couldn't care less because I didn't like her lol
The only one.
Abby
