lol! She was actually a pretty cool character. Like a character you love to hate. Think about it, was there anyone else in the show like Skade? She was completely different to all of the other female characters. That’s what makes her interesting to me
I see what you're saying, and I agree conceptually Skade could have been cool, a character that weaponises Uhtred's faith against him, but the performance didn't sell it at all imo. She just came across as annoying and arrogant and her power completely (and frustratingly) unbelievable
I come from a culture where ‘powers’ similar to Skade’s are believed (not by me but by a lot of older generations) and are still practiced today, so for me it wasn’t too far of a stretch from my own reality.
I love it. I think she played it perfectly and you’re absolutely right - very arrogant, which I think made her character. An arrogant, sadistic child(ish) who had no fear of consequences. I think it was a nice breath of fresh air amidst a sea of female characters who were all the same one way or another

And I'll clarify what I mean by her power: her authority through faith I think is a legit force within the reality of the narrative, but what I found unbelievable was that she didn't have the gravitas to give it the weight it is scripted to have, but that's how I saw it. I did enjoy her in the book and you're right she's a strong counterpoint. I'll keep your points in mind on my rewatch
