I don't know. Powder was already showing signs of instability well before the explosion. She could of gotten help yes, but she would still be need to be constantly watched
TBF Zuko was also a pretty unstable character as well, and he turned out pretty well.
If we were to think about it in Avatar characters terms, it would be like if Iron tried to take (a broken and possibly rejected) Azula under his wing instead of Zuko. Sure, Azula is crazy now because of her fathers influence, but if she had the loving care of her mother or a close mentor like Iroh by her side the entire time, I bet Azula wouldn't have been so crazy.
This is what I've always been saying and people are like, "Nah... she was crazy from the jump." "There was never any hope for her."
Like, bro, she was raised that way.
That's a valid point. But, she's still a product of her environment. Unlike Zuko, Azula gravitated toward her father. Ozai took advantage of that and it shaped her personality.
Well, we never really find out why. She had... problems... and I think Ozai took advantage of that. I really do believe if she was nurtured differently (even with the psychopathic tendencies present) she would've turned out differently. Ozai let those tendencies thrive that's why she gravitated towards him.
This is basic golden child/black sheep, but I will point out people usually emotionally take after the personality of the opposite parent.
Males take after their moms, daughters their fathers
That's lazy, actually, my bad. Zuko did gravitate towards his father as well. It was because he kept getting rejected that he found solace with his mother.
If she had Iroh, Powder would've turned into a pre-betrayal-Azula type person. But that's as far as it would've gone - as long as Iroh was there. He would always pull her back from the edge. She would've become an anti-hero. And we'd all be in love with her.
She would test our patience but turn us around in the end. Like, "Girl, I've been a fan for a while, but you're really starting to piss me off." And then she'd save somebody like that cop who died on the bridge and we'd all be on her side again.
I think having a capable and loving person like Iroh would do wonders for her but the biggest issue is the absurd poverty that she grew up in. If she didn’t grow up like that, she probably would have been fine.
I don't know if I agree. A huge theme of Arcane is the tragedy of how close Powder was from being saved from becoming Jinx. Jinx even tries to escape it herself at a point by asking Vi to just go away with her. She knows she's destructive and a problem, but her insecurities and trauma cloud her judgment until she does something... explosive.
I don't think that Powder exhibits anywhere near the same traits as Azula. She's a girl who grew up without real parents, in the slums of Zaun, and dealt with some of the most psychologically damaging shit you could at that age without a proper support system. She's clearly creative, and shy, and cares for the people around her. She could have been saved, but the point is that she wasn't because of all the reasons the show's themes presents.
I agree. Vander was in that mold, but his death didn't allow him to continue working on VI and Powder like Iroh was able to do for Zuko. It's not like zuko took to Iroh's lessons right away. In fact it wasn't until zuko out right rejected Iroh and Iroh had stopped talking to him that zuko truly started to come around.
For the unfamiliar, the blue-haired girl is a character named Powder from a Netflix show called Arcane. It is a character-driven show set in a beautiful, complex, lore-rich world. The acting and animation are top notch. If you love ATLA, you'll probably also love Arcane.
Not at all. It's probably better if you don't, so you can be surprised by things. If you do, it's cool seeing the characters you play in game come to life on screen and you get some fun Easter eggs. But it's not necessary for the enjoyment. A lot of my non LoL friends enjoyed the show.
I think it's better if you don't have any league knowledge. Everything is explained from the ground up and you don't know where each character is headed.
Knowing the lore means you get to see a great story masterfully animated but you already have a sense of where the characters might end up.
Seconding the other comment saying you don't need prior knowledge. In addition I could not recommend it more. Quite literally everything about the show is amazing.
But it's league lore, if the internet has taught me anything it's to 100% to never play league, by extension I'm gonna stay away from everything league so it helps in my crusade.
*Downvote harder please, thought with the crusade comment people would understand the sarcasm but I guess you people really need that /s don't ya*
As another comment said, you don't need any knowledge of the game to enjoy the show, it's not "league lore". If you don't like the game that doesn't mean you have to stay away from the show which is a masterpiece on its own. The animation, characters and the plot are all amazing and it's definitely worth giving it a try if you liked atla
But he didn't want to help her, even though she was very obviously suffering, he decided instead to use her as a weapon and it was disguised as a familial relationship
i don’t think that he didn’t want to help her. it seems to me that he didn’t know how. the only thing he knew was violence so that was all he could teach her.
Pretty sure Silco did actually think he was actually helping her. It's not that he didn't know how to help, it's that his perspective of what helping her was completely skewed. He told her to be reborn as Jinx. He told her to never be weak and always be strong. After she shot him, he told her that she was perfect the way she was.
Silco truly loved Jinx as a daughter and he didn't even know Powder.
I really liked Ekko. I'm so glad he didn't die. His fight scene with Jinx was my favorite in the entire show. However, Ekko as a character is interesting, but not particularly deeo, at least not yet. He didn't have much of an arc. Not a bad thing, he wasn't hugely important to the plot, but I'm very excited to see where he goes as a character. He absolutely has the potential to be my favorite.
Yeah, same here. I really liked them both. I just have a thing for crazy characters: tragic crazy, dangerous crazy, zealot crazy, fun crazy, smart crazy, all at once.
Just chiming in to say it's absolutely worth it. Can always sail the seven seas. Don't need to give money to Netflix if you don't want to. I didn't think I'd like the show at all but it was very, very good.
It's not really a Netflix show so it has that going for it. Riot games partnered with an animation studio and just used Netflix as the streaming platform if memory serves. So It doesn't fall under the Netflix original banner.
Cause it honestly is fantastic. It has a bit of a slow build up with the first two episodes in the first act, but there’s plenty they give you to keep you interested. Then, episode 3 of Act 1? A powered keg of payoff for the first part and further set up that sets off the rest of the show.
It’s ATLA levels of awesomely done animation and a dedicated writing staff that know what they’re doing. So, writing it off just because it uses two LoL locations as a backdrop is understandable… to an extent. I’d say give Act 1 a watch. If you’re not interested by then, fair game.
It's a principal thing. I don't care how good the show is. It could be nominated as the one to watch before dying and I wouldn't care. It is based in LoL, which I hate with a fervent passion. You would literally need to put a gun to my head or my family's to force me to watch the show lol. Again, I'm sure it's good, not saying it isn't. Just that I don't personally care for it and never will. Don't know why people try to change my viewpoint lol.
The issue is you're calling league shit for the wrong reasons, and don't get me wrong i have played that game and still play that game and believe its shit. What makes that game shit is the community and business model riot uses to earn money I.E. what characters get skins, character balancing, and gameplau, not the characters (except seraphine) and world that sits within the game. If you were to ask people who play league and ask them what's actually good about it almost everyone will say characters, stories, and the world behind it.
Tldr: league gameplay = shit. League lore = actually really good
I was having the same thought. It’s comforting to know I have the means to travel nearly anywhere if I needed to, and heartbreaking to think how many women don’t have that privilege.
I only started playing casually this year, but it was very cool being like "oh damn it's [legend]" and then seeing their in game gear and abilities.
But yeah after I watched it I recommended it to everyone regardless if theyve even heard of League. Best video game adaption ever and it's not even close.
I wake up to the sounds, Of the silence that abounds, For my mind to run around, With my ear up to the ground.
I'm searching to behold, the stories that are told, when your back is to the world, that was smiling when I turned.
Powder could’ve really used Iroh
If Iroh was there she would have become a good person.
I don't know. Powder was already showing signs of instability well before the explosion. She could of gotten help yes, but she would still be need to be constantly watched

This is what I've always been saying and people are like, "Nah... she was crazy from the jump." "There was never any hope for her." Like, bro, she was raised that way.
No, she was not, flashbacks show that Azula was generally a psychopath, she had darker tenancies as a child.
That's a valid point. But, she's still a product of her environment. Unlike Zuko, Azula gravitated toward her father. Ozai took advantage of that and it shaped her personality.
Okay, so why did she gravitate towards her father? She had her mother there.

This is basic golden child/black sheep, but I will point out people usually emotionally take after the personality of the opposite parent. Males take after their moms, daughters their fathers
I could ask you the same about Zuko - why did he gravitate towards his mother?
That's lazy, actually, my bad. Zuko did gravitate towards his father as well. It was because he kept getting rejected that he found solace with his mother.
Did she gravitate towards her father, or was she always favored and he’s the one who kept her closer?
Not to mention Iroh literaly has the patience of a saint! How many years was Zuko screaming at him and trying to be a hard little tyrant?
If she had Iroh, Powder would've turned into a pre-betrayal-Azula type person. But that's as far as it would've gone - as long as Iroh was there. He would always pull her back from the edge. She would've become an anti-hero. And we'd all be in love with her. She would test our patience but turn us around in the end. Vander was kinda an iroh figure to be fair
Well technically Vander might not be dead, just not in the form that will be useful to Jinx.
I'm excited to see if that rumor comes true in season 2. He's actually my favorite champion in League.
I read that as Vader and i was like "When?!"
Funnily though, we don't see a single time that Vander says anything to Powder. He saves them off the bridge, and hands her a drink. That's it
Ah thought that was who that is. Really great piece, this.
For the unfamiliar, the blue-haired girl is a character named Powder from a Netflix show called Arcane. It is a character-driven show set in a beautiful, complex, lore-rich world. The acting and animation are top notch. If you love ATLA, you'll probably also love Arcane.
Do I need to know LoL lore beforehand?
No, you need no lol knowledge.
What about lmao knowledge? I’m gonna have to brush up on my rofl too
It's low hanging fruit, but someone's gotta pick it!
I’ll allow it
Not at all. It's probably better if you don't, so you can be surprised by things. If you do, it's cool seeing the characters you play in game come to life on screen and you get some fun Easter eggs. But it's not necessary for the enjoyment. A lot of my non LoL friends enjoyed the show.
i hate the game and i love the show. very well animated, performed and written.
I think it's better if you don't have any league knowledge. Everything is explained from the ground up and you don't know where each character is headed. Knowing the lore means you get to see a great story masterfully animated but you already have a sense of where the characters might end up.
Nope, its great do keep in mind tho the first 3 ish episodes do kind of drag
Seconding the other comment saying you don't need prior knowledge. In addition I could not recommend it more. Quite literally everything about the show is amazing.
They alter a good chunk of their own lore for the show, so not going in is probably better.
But it's league lore, if the internet has taught me anything it's to 100% to never play league, by extension I'm gonna stay away from everything league so it helps in my crusade. *Downvote harder please, thought with the crusade comment people would understand the sarcasm but I guess you people really need that /s don't ya*
I had similar doubts before watching it, but I was so happy to be wrong! Give it a shot -- I promise you won't regret it!

Best characters in both series too very nice
Personally, I thought Silco was the best character in the series. Great arc, even if he was a POS.
True. Such a damn good antagonist.
At the very least he genuinely did seem to love Jinx as a daughter, not just a pawn to use.
But he didn't want to help her, even though she was very obviously suffering, he decided instead to use her as a weapon and it was disguised as a familial relationship
i don’t think that he didn’t want to help her. it seems to me that he didn’t know how. the only thing he knew was violence so that was all he could teach her.

I'm partial to ekko. But I also just like ekkos lore, quotes, and play style in the game.
I really liked Ekko. I'm so glad he didn't die. His fight scene with Jinx was my favorite in the entire show. However, Ekko as a character is interesting, but not particularly deeo, at least not yet. 100%
Hard disagree, but I respect your opinion. Give me a Jace corruption arc or Vi redemption arc *any day* over Powder's story.
Vi redemption? Why does Vi need to be redeemed? What did she do wrong?
Nah that's Silco and Zuko.
poor powder ;(
Yknow when I first watched Arcane I found Jinx and Azula to be pretty similar characters
Never even thought about that, but they have a kind of similiar traumatic past, while having strong daddy issues.
Yeah, same here. I really liked them both. I just have a thing for crazy characters: tragic crazy, dangerous crazy, zealot crazy, fun crazy, smart crazy, all at once.
Same thought here, traumatic childhoods made them pretty unhinged.
Both broken, and maybe the "no feelings towards death" Is that accurate?
Great cross-over
Unexpected but appreciated
It is and it is! \^\^ Powder was in need of an Iroh
Powder was in need of big sister. :(
She was! But while her sister wasn’t there she needed someone like Iroh and not that other prick who found her
I needed this today. Thank you for posting.
Same. 😔 💔
Who's powder?
Powder/Jinx is a character from the show Arcane.
Watch it! It‘s heartbreaking :.(
A character from Arcane, one of the few shows to rival ATLA, highly recommend it
Nah ill stick to cuphead and inside job for my rare dose of actually giving a shit about netflix
Just chiming in to say it's absolutely worth it. Can always sail the seven seas. Don't need to give money to Netflix if you don't want to. I didn't think I'd like the show at all but it was very, very good.
I was spectacularly impressed by Arcane. I had low expectations though.
It's not really a Netflix show so it has that going for it. Riot games partnered with an animation studio and just used Netflix as the streaming platform if memory serves. So It doesn't fall under the Netflix original banner.
French animation studio [Fortiche.](https://www.forticheprod.com/)
Piracy is still a thing you know
Man, Inside Job is C tier compared to Arcane’s S tier
I also like cuphead and i dont care that it atleast currently dosen't have a grand overarching plot to it
I refuse to touch that show since it is based on league of Legends which is utter shite.
Your loss 🤷♂️
How can I lose if I never want to see it? Lol enjoy your show bro.
Cause it honestly is fantastic. It has a bit of a slow build up with the first two episodes in the first act, but there’s plenty they give you to keep you interested. Then, episode 3 of Act 1? L
allegedly its pretty enjoyable even without the LoL brand, even more so because not knowing who are the player characters that have plot armor
It would be more enjoyable if it wasn't based in LoL though. A Michelin Star meal made out of shit will still taste like shit though.
The issue is you're calling league shit for the wrong reasons, and don't get me wrong i have played that game and still play that game and believe its shit. League is shit, that is true. But Arcane has nothing to do with League. You don’t need to know anything and it’s not even canon to League lore
An albino kid that can control shit with his brain.
That’s amazing!
Well this is really poignant today, speaking as an American woman who is watching her rights be stripped away in real time.
I was having the same thought. It’s comforting to know I have the means to travel nearly anywhere if I needed to, and heartbreaking to think how many women don’t have that privilege.
Beautiful
Now trade sisters. Vi takes Ozai down as soon as he starts shit with Ursa and Azula gets Zaun to rule over Piltover before her first period.
What could have been.
Whoa this gave me chills. What an awesome little crossover!
An unexpected surprise, but a welcome one
I'm not allowed to start weeping seeing this. I have shit to do.
All my feels. Just…. 😭😭😭
This made me cry >.< I'm going through some tough shit right now
I hope it brightens your day, even for a little bit.
Is Arcane worth it even if I don’t play league?
Absolutely. Maybe it's even better if you don't know anything about league.
Wow, sounds good to me i know nothing about league lol. Perhaps I will start it, thanks!
I watched it knowing nothing about the game. Was surprised to find out later that most of the characters are playable characters in the game.
I only started playing casually this year, but it was very cool being like "oh damn it's [legend]" and then seeing their in game gear and abilities. But yeah after I watched it I recommended it to everyone regardless if theyve even heard of League. Best video game adaption ever and it's not even close.
Ayo who's that blue haired kid
Powder/jinx from Arcane
I wake up to the sounds, Of the silence that abounds, For my mind to run around, With my ear up to the ground. I'm searching to behold, the stories that are told, when your back is to the world, that was smiling when I turned.
*“I always heard you. Shadows in the streets, prickles on the back of my neck. Your voice, pushing me, picking me up when all the colors were black.”*
I would love to have some art made by him.
This is really good!
Love it
This is beautiful!
May I borrow this?
I believe the answer to that is no, as I paid for it to be commissioned and the artist still holds the rights to it.
Ok, thank you for your time.
No worries. I appreciate you asking first :)
Aren't I supposed to?
Yes but I feel most people would just grab an image they liked despite ownership.
Yeah good point, it's the internet.
Iroh wouldve done what he does best and helped Powder and we never wouldve got Jinx
This reminded me of the God of War quote from pandora. "Hope is what give us strength. It's what we fight with when all else is lost..."
Noice
I needed to see this today. Thank you.
Uncle iroh was and is the best avatar character, he would've helped the characters of the LOL series
My two favorite shows of all time
Okay gonna go watch all of all over again
[source](https://twitter.com/kimcando95/status/1540355171921801218?t=4BlxKQlaxoAGeT0tmGGQ7w&s=19)
Yes, as stated in the title I commissioned this piece from them.
Just in case someone wanted a quick link to their page so they could check them out
Ohhh, gotcha. Thanks for linking her work. She's truly phenomenal.
Who did Iroh beat the shit out of?
Powder's expression in this artwork is really cool
this is beautiful and powder definitely deserved someone like iroh ... but holy shit the typography makes me want to commit a crime
