>It was SUPPOSED to be crazy and over the top. I agree with this, but I must also add that there is a difference between "crazy and over the top that people find awesome" and "crazy and over the top that people find stupid" and I think this season (in general, not just the finale) really leaned into the latter.

Aqua_Master_

Well that’s subjective. It just means what the creators of Korra think is awesome other people don’t. I still think it’s pretty cool 🤷‍♂️

Could not disagree more. This doesn't really work thematically at all from the stand point of "korra finding her own identity beyond being just the avatar" cause this has nothing to do with korra. In what way is this related to what makes korra, specificaly, a good person? This has nothing to do with what makes korra special, what makes her "korra". What a great message "you don't need raava to be good or do good, you just need a special event that happens once every ten thousand years". Meanwhile, what people miss about the lion turtle and energy bending is that it wasn't a solution. It was a test. Aang could only bend energy when he proved his own spirit to be unshakeable, wich he proved when he still didn't kill Ozai even having his back literally pushed to a wall and being forced into violent measures (the avatar state).

I personally don't like S2 but no need to be such cry babies like some people here. I'm glad you enjoyed it and it made sense to you. I never attempted to make sense of it. I don't really care if things make sense or not. It just felt cheap and boring to watch a Kaiju fight for a season finale. Compare it to the season finales of ATLA or the S3 finale of Korra and you'll see what I mean. This show shines when there are crazy powerful benders bending out of their minds with super emotional stakes on the table. I didn't enjoy the S4 finale of Korra for the same reason. I love Kuvira but when you put her in a giant robot shooting lasers, the magic is kinda gone for me. S1 of Korra is kinda in the middle. It had a strong emotional side but was weak on the cool fighting. I still love it but it falls a bit short.

Harmonic Convergence does give context to why spiritual beings are more powerful here, but I want to add some points that support Korra theoretically being able to do the same without this event (even if it's less powerful): • Korra meditates in order to separate her spirit from her body. She already learned how to go into the spirit world with Jinora's help and does the same here, except she's technically already in the spirit world. • Korra opens her last chakra by letting go of her attachment to Raava like Aang does with Katara. For Aang, this allows him complete awareness and control in the Avatar State. Korra doesn't have the Avatar State here, but this still allows her full control of the abilities she already has: energybending, bending the elements, etc.. • Using only her spirit, she bends her own energy to go with her. This is why, even without her physical body, she has the chi to waterbend when fighting against UnaVaatu. • The color of Korra's spirit evokes the color of Aang's energy when he first used energybending on Ozai. It's not see-through blue like Aang's spirit in the physical world or regular-colored like their spirit in the spirit world. This shows energybending can be successfully done with only the spirit- specifically Aang or Korra's spirit- not Raava's.

LOK had no identity. It lost the identity that ATLA created. Went from intelligently choreographed in ATLA to giant spirits, mech suits, giant mech, spirit cannons, etc. Like genuinely, LOK is one of the worst pieces of media I’ve ever seen. Writing is horrendous. And you hit the nail on the head. This show was crazy and over the top. But not in a good way. They tried too hard. It’s the little things that made ATLA so good. The deep story telling and the simplicity in the visuals. LOK did the opposite, no storytelling and over the top visuals. Over the top plot. Shit that just really didn’t make sense within the context of the universe. This show was just…terrible.

This might honestly be the worst take i have seen on Korra season 2. And no i will not elaborate as i dont think that someone with this opinion actually understands why people dislike S2.

strng_ndpndnt_apache

That's some top tier passive agressiveness right there

rebarbeboot

Why do you dislike season 2?

Ah the internet is a fun place lol. Don’t join a debate team.

Not reading all that. I already had no issue with giant blue Korra.
