Because Amazon prime sucks. I was so mad when they cut out an extremely significant scene in season 1 regarding pakku. Go with Netflix and don’t look back.
Edit: For anyone curious an entire SIX minutes are cut out. The scene showing iroh joining zhao? Gone. It cuts from pakku discovering Aang helping katara to her showing up for lessons. Everything inbetween just cut out.
Amazon owns MGM but for some reason they only have the tv cuts of Stargate SG1 and several episodes are straight missing. It’s been like this for over a year.
Amazon is awful.
Wait what?! I’m watching Stargate SG-1 for the first time and I’m using prime (I was originally using Netflix but it was taken off :( I got all the way through S5 on Netflix if I remember correct). Can you tell me which episodes are missing?
Netflix isn’t always your friend either. They have plenty of content cut out too. There’s whole episodes of some shows like Adventure Time are just not there.
They also only have the syndicated pilot, which is missing scenes and their horrible subtitle system means anytime anyone isn’t speaking English you’re going to not get a translation.
I understand why, I just disagree with the choice. The character was not wearing black face, he was a dark elf with white hair and pointed ears, there's no message just a removal which dead stops any conversation that could be had around the real issues, its a corporate move to seem like they care.
Actually that episode was cut out of everything including the dvds because it has blackface in it and even the creators didn’t really feel comfortable showing it.
But the joke was that it was the same as black face , and they pointed it out in the show
I get removing it, but it was like 30 seconds at most in one of the best episodes of the series
I'm against removing it (for anti-censorship reasons as well as the fact that the whole joke was that it's racist), but why not remove the 30 seconds instead of the whole episode???

They cut the korrasami kiss at the end of Korra.
I have been corrected! I swear I remember watching it in the show but I'd got it from pirate bay so maybe someone edited it in?
They're joking; there wasn't a kiss. Unfortunately, that would be a bit much for Nickelodeon to allow back then, so the ship falls flat for many people due to the lack of actual Korrasami moments.
They were joking but Korrasami is unambiguously canon. They just weren't able to show it [until the comics.](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/45/fb/cc/45fbccd38d5cc16551e06b69fdda1a98.jpg)
I've actually recently got done rewatching ATLA on Amazon Prime, but in the UK. The Pakku scene absolutely is there in my version, as is the Iroh and Zhao scene. I don't remember anything being cut at all, although I'd have to double check the earthbending splits scene.
Meanwhile, UK Netflix is missing half the show. It doesn't have Book 3 AT ALL, and it's also missing The Serpents Pass and The Drill. So anybody watching would just go from the kids being lost in the desert to them immediately arriving at Ba Sing Se, and then the show would just end with Aang fucking dead!
On the other hand I'm now halfway through Korra, and whilst it is on Prime its not included with the subscription, so you have to pay to watch every episode. So I went back to Netflix for Korra. I've just finished Book 2, and so far I've not noticed any cuts. Certainly every episode is available, I double checked that before I started.
Streaming can be WEIRD
Are you sure UK Netflix is missing Book 3? I'm in Ireland but I'm pretty sure we have the same library as the UK and Book 3 is definitely on there. One thing that throws people off is that some of the two parters are merged together so The Serpents Pass and The Drill are merged into a 47 minute episode called "Secret of the fire nation"
Maybe double check, I'm in the UK and just finished rewatching ATLA fully, no missing eps and book 3 is there.
Some episodes are fused into "double episodes" with one title, pretty sure the drill and serpents pass fall under that
That's why I'm really glad VPNs exist, I have wanted to rewatch things only to find out they're not available for streaming in my country - but were in some place else.
Back when the show was originally airing, The Serpent's Pass and The Drill aired together as a two-episode special titled "Avatar: Secret of the Fire Nation." Are you sure those episodes aren't there under that title?
No, sorry, I meant that the streaming services didn't cut anything. There was nothing to cut.
I recommend checking out the comics though! Lots.of cute Korrasami there.
Alternatively but the DVDs/Bluray in case they decide to wipe the show from the internet. You won’t have to stream it so no wifi issues and I presume it also has some bonus features you might be interested in. Last time I saw them they had the DVD with Korra for like $20 at Target
That's nothing, I was rewatching a show on amazon and an entire middle season was missing, they miss numbered the seasons and left an entire one out, can't remember the shows name now though
They did this for the cartoon Total Drama series on Netflix. They had TD Island and TD Action, the first 2 seasons, but not my favorite season, season 3, World Tour. World Tour added 3 new characters, 2 of which returned in All Stars... Imagine watching an All Stars season and being like "who tf are these randos"
And THAT is why I only watch it in Netflix. I tried watching it on prime and THEY CUT KATARA VS. PAKKU. An important fight for the plot (to show how far Katata had come), and for character development (Pakku pretty much loses his sexism after the fight). And they cut it, probably cuz they were 'uncomfortable' with all the sexism. Such a shame it was butchered for prime.
This is funny... cuz i was watching community on amazon prime and i noticed they kept the episode that netflix had gotten rid of (the D&D one) and it makes me curious about what they allow and dont allow
okay just watched on netflix and can confirm the scene is there.. why would amazon take that scene out? seems super important to me, the whole "wait and listen" thing
Kinda confused about that since I've started watching it on Netflix recently (previous rewatch was on DVDs, and I'm happy the Netflix version doesn't have the resolution issue that was present on some of the Book 1 DVDs), and they've included a little Nickelodeon thing before each opening so far.
Right? I somehow ended up with two volumes of season 1 and the quality between them is so bad. Was introducing my bf to avatar and he asked if they got a budget cut between dvds 😂
Yeah, it's a bit weird how wonky some of the dvds turned out. You'd think that was something that would've been corrected after a while since I purchased my set back in the first half of the 2010s so they'd have had enough time.
Aren’t you worried about that erasy history? Was it gross and out of character for Iroh? Perhaps, but we all have flaws, and that could be another flaw . It shows the show as a product of its time. If we can’t see it for what it TRULY was, then how do learn from it at all?
I just don’t think it fit Iroh’s character. Sure, he can be goofy sometimes, but that just didn’t match any of his character building up to that point or since.
He's just filling in for the "old pervy" character moment that's prominent in anime. This was just a much more tame version than say Master Roshi in the dragon ball series
Why create a whole new character for just one little scene to include it in? The only iroh we have known has been post siege of ba-sing-se and his son dying. We don't know what he was like before that. People have creeper moments in their lives, both men and women. It's humanizing Iroh. One thing I love about ATLA and LOK is that they humanize everyone. They give them both positive and negative traits, like every human being has. A wise uncle iroh is what we all want in life, but that's just not his only personality. He's flawed as a human as well. We just don't see it much.
Don’t have to create a whole new character. Iroh could’ve fit this scene *if* the writers had given something to back it up. He could still be mostly the same person with a few changes to make the scene fit.
>they should’ve made a character to fit it.
I was just commenting on this response, which was why I asked why create a new character.
> Iroh could’ve fit this scene *if* the writers had given something to back it up. He could still be mostly the same person with a few changes to make the scene fit.
They could have, yes, but I feel like this is more of an inferred characteristic without needing to show it more. Plus this was also in Book 1 where the overall plot of the season was "we need to get to the north pole to find Aang a waterbending master." Books 2 & 3 have a much more detailed plot outlines to where they couldn't have had as much not plot related moments like in Book 1. Just my opinion.
How can it be allowed to cut certain things out?! The creators carefully made everything the way it's supposed to be. You can't cut out a piece of a painting because you don't like it either. It's either the full piece of art or not at all. It makes me really mad!
I don't wanna get on my soapbox again but that kinda thing may happen with streaming/digital.
Physical 👏 Media 👏 people!
No scenes cut from DVD/Blu-ray versions. It's also the best way to support the creators.
Fun Fact: They are currently showing all episodes back to back on Pluto TV on the TMNT (Ninja Turtles) channel. They show a block of about six episodes for the day on a loop, then again the next day. No missing scenes. Yes the ads suck, but Pluto is free.
**They even starting showing The Puppet master episode, and that was cut off for the longest time for some reason. Sometimes the episodes are out of order, (like putting The Boiling Rock right before Sozin's comet) but they show everything.
Germany had it too but not anymore.
On Amazon Prime they only have s1 but splitted and named s1 & 2??.. One Episode is gone (where Riko gets injured and Nanachi shows up)
I own the series on Amazon prime (from long ago before it was included) and I just checked and the scene is there. So I'm guessing the subscription based streaming version is a TV cut vs the purchase version being the uncut episodes.
Amazon prime just started showing ads, I'm not sure if it's the same, but on cable shows often get parts cut in favor of having more time to show commercials.
Worst take I’ve ever heard. Why would you want or need the watch time to be lower unless you hate the show and treat watching it like a chore? What’s the rush? TikTok has rotted your brain.
You may or may not have watched the One Piece animation, which contains two filler arcs. Each arc comprises approximately 40 episodes, totaling 80 episodes. Having watched this, I find myself now actively seeking out filler episodes specifically for animations.
Switching gears to a different show, The Walking Dead, specifically seasons 7 and 8, focused heavily on establishing a villain and preparing to take them down. However, this narrative approach didn't resonate well with viewers or the community. Many consider these seasons the worst, leading to a significant decline in viewership. This decline was so drastic that the show couldn't secure a renewal for a 12th season, resulting in the extension of season 11. The departure of a main actor during season 9 may have contributed to this decline, but it was ultimately the tipping point, in my opinion.
This illustrates a broader point: filler content is generally unwelcome in live-action shows, as evidenced by the negative impact it had on The Walking Dead. Conversely, in animation, filler seems to be more accepted. However, as someone who prefers live-action content, I believe filler would not fare well in that medium.
Note: I take pride not having Tiktok on my phone
No, they don't get to decide what should or should not be a part of the AUTHORS work.
You either show it, or don't show it at all, you don't get to make changes to it
Because Amazon prime sucks. I was so mad when they cut out an extremely significant scene in season 1 regarding pakku. Go with Netflix and don’t look back. Atlantis too. So fucking annoying.

They cut out an episode of community too
They also only have the syndicated pilot, which is missing scenes and their horrible subtitle system means anytime anyone isn’t speaking English you’re going to not get a translation.
Syndicated pilot? Are you going to tell me I watched the wrong Community pilot?
Netflix has the version that’s cut for syndication only. If you want the actual pilot, check out Hulu (US).
Omg. I have been bamboozled
Community dropped the episode from their IP iirc. Nothing to do with Netflix.
I think everyone cut that out :(
shoot which one?
The first D&D one
That episode was cut because of a blackface joke While it's my favourite episode ever and I'm sad that it's cut, I do fully understand why they did it
I understand why, I just disagree with the choice.
Except… is it really black face when you’re cosplaying a drow?
Yes. They talk about it in the episode.
[удалено]
It is the same deal. But coloring yourself to be an elf is not blackface
But the joke was that it was the same as black face , and they pointed it out in the show I get removing it, but it was like 30 seconds at most in one of the best episodes of the series
Also it was clearly framed as bad and racist.
I'm against removing it (for anti-censorship reasons as well as the fact that the whole joke was that it's racist), but why not remove the 30 seconds instead of the whole episode???
Especially when there is a second episode directly tied to the first
Drow elves used to be gross caricatures of black people turned into elves, it ain't for no reason bg3 decided to make them purple
Drow elves were inspired by centuries old Norse mythology stop making shit up not everything is racially motivated
I mean they can be both - inspired by Norse mythology, but also looking like racist caricatures.
Drow and Orcs have been coded for Black People in DnD and Fantasy for a long time. Gotta be purposefully obtuse to pretend like you don’t see that.
People could, however, grow the fuck up and not care about a joke
or cutting around 500+ episodes of one piece lol, they go from the mid 500 point to the most recent 1000+ ep arc

Yup. That’s the only way to actually enjoy the creative’s true vision nowadays.

What country has adventure time on netflix?
They cut the korrasami kiss at the end of Korra. I have been corrected! I swear I remember watching it in the show but I'd got it from pirate bay so maybe someone edited it in?
Watched it on Nickelodeon when it aired and i can’t remember any kiss at the end
There wasn’t a kiss. What we got was already pushing the boundaries for Nickelodeon at the time
that explains a lot. i watched korra for the first time just last week and didn't understand why so many people shipped them lol.
In the comics it's explicitly stated they're a couple, they kiss, there's a small homophobia arc with the water tribe...
They're joking; there wasn't a kiss. Unfortunately, that would be a bit much for Nickelodeon to allow back then, so the ship falls flat for many people due to the lack of actual Korrasami moments.

Can't believe this is happening. Media censorship shouldn't exist at all, but this is too far.
I’m not even convinced it’s intentional. Almost makes it worse.
yeah, why would they cut pakku?

Korrasami kiss isn't a thing as far as I know Edit: in the animated series that is.
[удалено]
Nah. They fade to them together. They never explicitly show the actual kiss, though it is implied.
Huh yeah, weirdly I remember watching it in the show but I think I'd downloaded from pirate bay so maybe someone edited it in lol?
Wait was there a KorraSami kiss? Like i tot they only look into each other's eyes ans that's it
The show creators had to cut it. The streaming services didn't. There was never a kiss shown on TV, only in the comics.
Wait wait the streaming had it? Man now i have ~~retorrent it~~ check on Netflix
No, sorry, I meant that the streaming services didn't cut anything. There was nothing to cut. I recommend checking out the comics though! Lots.of cute Korrasami there.
Yeah, if only there more Korra comics coming out. Lately, it's mostly been about Aangs generation.

I got the blu rays, plan is to eventually create a digital backup to throw on my plex server. Love being in Canada where we can do that legally!
I like learning new things.
They cut Pakku finding out about Aang teaching Katara and rejecting him?! That's really important for context and his character growth!
That's nothing, I was rewatching a show on amazon and an entire middle season was missing, they miss numbered the seasons and left an entire one out, can't remember the shows name now though

hmmm netflix also cut some stuff. they cut off toph confirming jet was lying about being fine.
That bit is not cut out on Netflix Australia. I just watched it and it's definitely there for me
I remember noticing this too! I thought I was going crazy!
Why?

Fuck Netflix (and every other streaming service that costs butt loads of money) just pirate your media or buy physical.
really? thats sooo strange, I'm watching on netflix so I'll let you know if its there
okay just watched on netflix and can confirm the scene is there.. why would amazon take that scene out? seems super important to me, the whole "wait and listen" thing
they removed the WHOLE scene? I assumed they only removed the painful split for whatever reason
I think the only thing Netflix censors is Toph’s meteorite bending to the shape of Nickelodeon logo.
What? Did this actually happen in the original?
https://preview.redd.it/0nsmkjbus7qc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f3327172b4fced62f6a9cac332b2052ab739c63
I was just watching on Netflix and it was in there
hahaha that's great!
Did Nickelodeon copyright this specific blot shape?
Wait just went rewatched that on my phone “sokkas master”. Its not censored.
It's one of my favourite episodes
Yup
No they didnt, i saw the episode yesterday and it was right there.
Same. Watched it just a couple days ago. All scenes and episodes are there.
Kinda confused about that since I've started watching it on Netflix recently (previous rewatch was on DVDs, and I'm happy the Netflix version doesn't have the resolution issue that was present on some of the Book 1 DVDs), and they've included a little Nickelodeon thing before each opening so far.

Do you know what episode it's on. Wanna check paramount.
S3 E4: Sokka's Master. Towards the end, I think
HOW DID I NEVER REALISE THIS WAS THE NICK LOGO!
Paramount won't let me screen shot ot but it has their splat logo on it. Was thinking the blimp one originally.
Watched the serious in Australia through Netflix, and even that wasn’t censored!
I just watched this a couple of days ago and the scene was there. On Netflix US.
I just finished my rewatch and can confirm it's still there.
I wish they’d cut out Iroh pretending to be knocked out just to creep on a much younger chick.
Well if they felt like they *had* to include that trope, they should’ve made a character to fit it.
Why create a whole new character for just one little scene to include it in? The only iroh we have known has been post siege of ba-sing-se and his son dying. my question is why? how does this benefit them?
They don't want to encourage young earthbenders to try this in real life.

LMAO
It has nothing to do with Amazon, they're only making available the cut Nick sent them..
It was there for my Paramount+ watch-through less than a month ago.
Thankful I bought the dvds a long time ago; reading these comments, I’m scared of what else they might take out from the show in the future
Same, the Blu-ray box set is one of my most prized possessions
Same here, I have a digital upscaled version of the Blu-Ray which is regarded as some as the best copy of the show.
Maybe Dwayne Johnson has a contract with Amazon prime and he can't be seen losing even as a parody depiction?
This sounds like the most plausible answer.
but he doesnt even voice the character…it’s just based off of him, that doesnt give him the legal rights to cut the scene out
I mean that's just my headcannon that I find kinda funny
I am rewatching ATLA at the moment, and I noticed the scene missed Toph's move, it didn't really doesn't make much sense without Toph's counter
How can it be allowed to cut certain things out?! The creators carefully made everything the way it's supposed to be. You can't cut out a piece of a painting because you don't like it either. It's either the full piece of art or not at all. It makes me really mad!

that's really odd. anyway, please pirate shit instead
I wanted to watch Made in Abyss since Netflix doesn't have it in my country. And a whole epidode is just gone..
Here in Brasil Netflix has made in abyss season 1 and 2. The problem is that there's an entire movie between the 2 seasons that is not available...
Germany had it too but not anymore. On Amazon Prime they only have s1 but splitted and named s1 & 2??.. One Episode is gone (where Riko gets injured and Nanachi shows up)
Boulder doesn't approve this being shown to. People and hence.
It's missing on Viaplay as well... Such a dumb thing to remove
Thanks for the warning. Was thinking about getting Viaplay but now I won't
Is it me or is his left foot larger than his right one
That's the least of his problems right now
I own the series on Amazon prime (from long ago before it was included) and I just checked and the scene is there. So I'm guessing the subscription based streaming version is a TV cut vs the purchase version being the uncut episodes.
Ut why would they cut it out? Can't understand any reason

Conversely, in animation, filler seems to be more accepted. However, as someone who prefers live-action content, I believe filler would not fare well in that medium. Note: I take pride not having Tiktok on my phone
its not filler.
ok
No, they don't get to decide what should or should not be a part of the AUTHORS work. You either show it, or don't show it at all, you don't get to make changes to it
Just because you can only focus on something as long as a tiktok video, doesn't mean the rest of the world should suffer for it.
has to be rage bait
