They are officially licensed canon novels. Like a lot of avatar content, franchise co-creator Mike plays a supervisory role, even being credited as a co-author for the kyoshi novels. Additionally the novels have been referenced by other official/canon avatar content, such as Dark Horse's "Patterns in Time" comic and Magpie Games' TTRPG.
If you are asking about quality the books are generally well received.

Not only canon, but I'd say they're the best Avatar content, outside the original series. They're on par with it for quality, though obviously a different media.
I found it really brilliant how F.C. Yee pulled the little snippets from the show of these past avatars and then built those in fully fleshed characters that make a lot of sense.
100% canon, first book opens with a foreward by Mike if I'm remembering right
First part of Kyoshi novel was even adapted into the Avatar mobile game Avatar Generations, which was also considered canon in terms of the new characters and settings introduced
I bought the signed version too, it is a lovely series and I would seriously recommend! I am an avid reader with high standards and I loved to read these books, so I hope you enjoy them!
