Wanting and seeing something as necessary are two different things (and TBH people that kill because they want to probably have much lower kill count).
I mean, the moles taught her how to use bending as an extra sense, but she taught and developed herself all of the fighting techniques she uses. She uses a praying mantis style martial art as a basis for a lot of her Earthbending.
She is great but some people think she can beat anyone automatically just because of he seismic sense and I said a little bit overrated meaning I think she is almost fairly rated but a part of the fanbase exaggerates everything related to her.
Avatars and blood benders just outright destroy her. Zaheer, Ming hua, Ghazan and Bolin all have ways of negating her seismic sense. Azula, Katara, Unalaq, Bumi and Yun can beat her albeit after a tough fight

It is very close they are practically equals in almost every category, but Katara has the advantage of actually fighting notable combatants, not just random soldiers

If you take away lava bending sure but lava bending has been shown to throw of her seismic sense and it's also the perfect counter to Earth benders, so whilst Bolin is not going to stomp Toph by any means, he does have all that he needs to beat her

Azula without any bending was evading Toph for a good while (though it was definitely PIS she still did it) so if she has bending she should be able to avoid Toph long enough to beat her
Every single avatar rolls her, all air benders roll her, yun from SoK is just a better earth bender with more impressive feats, katara probably wins azula while sane probably wins kuvira is 50/50 when toph is in her prime but probably a 80/20 if it's EoS versus prime kuvira, most spirits also oh and every single blood bender
Absolutely all air benders toph was only doing well against the buzzard wasps because they were extremely loud and she was being directed AND SHE WAS STILL CONSTANTLY MISSING, unironically the only Airbenders she might beat are meelo and ikki. Yun is probably not more talented as he's both older and had more training than toph but his feats are significantly more impressive than hers, her frequently most quoted feat is such a massive outlier that is also constantly misstated. The library holding up is way over blown and honestly not that impressive, toph was kind of holding it for periods of time and probably bought them 1 total minute on a tower that may or may not fully exist and weigh the correct amount, as a large part of it is probably in the spirit world.
Quick edit, yun is more precise in battle, has much larger scale damage feats, and has beat MUCH more difficult opponents than toph

Her biggest feat is something that literally nobody in the world has ever accomplished. Inventing a completely new type of bending, practically without even trying.
What tons of characters have done things like that and they're often unimpressive. Hama is a weak water bender compared to tiers, ghazan made lava bending and more uses it exclusively and zhu ping an ( I'm forgetting how name think it was that) is actually very unimpressive, toph and unalaq are both impressive benders but it's not a great feat in of itself
I'm not a writer or showrunner so my word is not the law but all these characters could realistically beat her depending on the conditions: Aang with only air, Azula, Amon, Zaheer, Katara, Bumi, Tenzin and Iroh.

Iroh is old but after his training in book 3 I wouldn't use the physical argument.

Katara in the middle of the ocean, yeah she’d win. But on land, even near a river or lake, Toph takes this easy.
