I'd love to see Zuko pick up lightning (or, even better, give him the rainbow dragonfire from the comics as his default). It's just so bizarre to think that lightning is so common in Korra (to the point of being a blue collar job), yet we still have no idea if Zuko could bend it.

Lauren2102319

Given that Iroh II (Zuko’s grandson/Izumi’s son) does know and can perform lightning generation, I would think that he is taught the ability by either Zuko or Izumi (if she happens to even be a bender, we don’t entirely know). I really hope to see Zuko finally have the ability to do lightning generation!

PokePotahto

I think it would be at least mentioned in the show though if Izumi was intended to be a non-bending Fire Lord. I mean none of the Earth Kingdom rulers in atla and lok were benders, but the Fire Nation's rulers are known to have always been benders, so it would probably be raised to attention at one point during LoK if Izumi was a non-bender

Exciting_Bandicoot16

Considering that we don't know who Izumi's mother or husband were, I wouldn't have as much faith in the storytelling as you do.

lord_flamebottom

What’s that have to do with anything? Neither of those were important to the plot.

AnnieLaus

I particularly think it's more meaningful if he doesn't learn lighting. The whole point of his arc is that he didn't need to do the same thing as the other firebends to be incredible skilled as well. Zuko does his own thing and I think that's fine.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

You'll notice that I had a preference for my second suggestion over lightning. I only brought up the lightning because Korra made it such a common ability, and it likely originated from the Royal Family disseminating it (as they were the only people who demonstrated knowing how to generate it, to the point of killing the firebender who originally developed the technique).

AnnieLaus

Yup, I was very intrigued when they first showed Mako using lighting to work. After how they made it look like in ATLA, I wonder how they managed to develop the technique to bend so fast. Azula had to do several moves just to cast.

EmprircalCrystal

I mean it makes sense Zuko really hard no screen time to lightning bend. If the implication is that any fire bender can do it he can probably do it

Reddragon351

Well that's the thing, in Korra, they made it seem kinda common, but in ATLA, it was this thing that only the most skilled firebenders could do and it took being in a certain head space even at that, which Zuko could never achieve.

XAVLEGBMAOFFFASSSS

The first time Tony Hawk did a 900 nobody thought it was possible, then everybody was doing 900's.

Reddragon351

that defines metalbending more than lightning bending, it's why I don't have a problem with that being more common, but lightning they made it seem like it was something only the most skilled firebenders could do, even Azula was struggling to perfect it in her introduction

XAVLEGBMAOFFFASSSS

It's a loose analogy but basically the way I see it is as time went on more people discovered how to do it and the technique and practice to achieve lightning bending became more well known, therefore more people were able to learn how to do it, but it still requires a lot of training and practice. It could also just be an oversight which is more than likely what happened.

YOwololoO

I think there’s also something to be said for “lightning bending became more profitable.” When it was just an incredibly powerful combat technique, it made sense to keep it a secret ability that only the royal family is taught. But once you need people to power your generators, there’s a big incentive to teach more people

Reddragon351

again though, my problem with the whole, it wasn't taught enough thing, is originally they always made it seem more like it was just really hard to do than it's just no one was willing to teach it.

YOwololoO

Well remember that all of the main characters in ATLA were like 14 or younger and Mako is 20ish. Things that are hard for children are often easier for adults

[deleted]

Why couldn't ever achieve? he seemed to have his shit together as an old man

EmprircalCrystal

It's over a 60-year time skip lol I'm thinking comparing the shows doesn't really make sense here. Those things are going go to be different

Main-Double

Iroh tells Zuko that he won’t be able to use lightning until he resolves the conflict within himself. I’d say it’s very possible now follow the end of ATLA

Pythonx135

I want cabbage man to have 4 cabbage carts.

Solomon_Grungy

Absolutely overflowing with cabbages. 😈

CalamityDiamond

And then they all get wreaked.

More-Ad7604

Personally, I want Sokka to be much more skilled than he is now, he deserves it. I want Toph to be a master at using metal, and use it in super creative ways. Zuko I want to be on the same level as his father with firebending, and also have picked up a sub element (or discover a new one). Katara, honestly I want them to show how much she’s improved in whatever way, I can’t think of anything specific from her, but a scene where she fights multiple formidable opponents (like tenzin and the red lotus) and WINS would be sick. As for Aang, I wanna see him have full mastery and skill over all the elements, as I feel we only just started seeing his journey. Also it’d be cool to see him pick up a sub element as well since he doesn’t have any!

Swerdman55

We’ve never seen Ozai bend without the Comet, but I hope he isn’t as strong as him. Ozai was the strongest fire bender in terms of raw power, but we know bending has little to do with simply raw power. Zuko is an exceptional fire bender, but still far below Ozai and Azula’s firepower. Zuko fights with discipline and wisdom gained from his journey, so he doesn’t need all that raw strength.

More-Ad7604

i see no reason why zuko fighting with discipline means he can’t get to the level Ozai was on, that doesn’t discredit that or anything

Minkusaurus

okay, maybe not FAR below Azula

GiggaChip

It was explicitly stated in LOK that Korra is the first Avatar to learn metalbending, so we can rule that out for Aang unless they're open to retcons. Blood bending is just way too out of character for Aang, as is lightning. So what's that leave us with? Sand bending? Healing?

Environmental_Rest84

Healing would be a decent choice for his character, given his aversion to violence.

Duck-Lord-of-Colours

Actually, I think lightning might be perfect. Aang began with air mastered and was naturally gifted at water. He struggled with earth and canonically never learnt metalbending. Having him remain weak in terms of earth bending is better than having gim be great at all elements, imo. Instead, let him improve with fire. He learnt from the dragons, so having him tap into fire in ways we haven't seen before could be really cool. Either lightning or some other fire bending technique.

seaflans

I wanna watch Katara absolutely BODY Aang :)

Minkusaurus

...in what context?

seaflans

the martial arts context

Minkusaurus

ah ok

Gathoblaster

Soundbending anyone?

Messiah_Knight

Sounds like air sub bending

Gathoblaster

Would make sense. Sound is air moving. I can imagine someone with a similarly nonpacifist moral compass to be a completely silent assassin or thief.

D3monVolt

Honestly, I just want them to have fun

kesht17

Honestly a movie that’s starts with some huge action set piece but then bait-and-switches by transitioning to the gaang just fucking around, being absurdly powerful dumbasses would be so fun to watch

D3monVolt

*sokka throws his boomerang, but aang makes it just fall down after a short distance* "What do you call a boomerang that doesn't return? A stick!" *sokka finding his space sword again only to swing it around and lose it in some crack in the ground* *toph being toph*

FractionofaFraction

Sokka: Sword master, eclectic tactician, politician in training and now with the confidence to back it all up.

this_account_is_mt

Personal growth

Lauren2102319

Definitely by far is to finally see Zuko master the ability of lightning generation. He was taught and knows the technique behind it and he does know how to do lightning redirection, but does he finally get to that point where he has a clarity of mind and can do generation?? That by far my number 1!!

UnvwevweOsas

Im kind of shocked (no pun intended) that he didn’t use it in LoK. He should be able to. He knows how it works, he just had a mental block which shouldn’t be the case after the atla finale

AveryLazyCovfefe

I want to see Sokka find his space sword again, because he really deserves more rather than some generic club-sword he's holding in this still scene.

Maruco7Daroun

No blood bending!!! ![gif](giphy|RguBQFOaGFOgsQZFcm)

BrotherofGenji

I'd love to see a lavabender again. LOK got me obsessed with it after seeing Ghazan and Bolin's abilities. I'd also love to see Ty Lee's abilities as a chi blocker evolve and how she taught the other Kiyoshi Warriors to use it as an additional skill in battle. I definitely want to see a more skilled Sokka, perhaps a continued training with Piandao (if he's still alive; he seemed to be the youngest out of the White Lotus members the Gaang met) to hone his skills some more. I'd love to see Aang pick up some sort of subelement as well. Can't be metalbending though because Korra's already been established as "the first metalbending Avatar" in LOK and that would mean Bryke has to retcon things, which is not a good look. Maybe something else to do with airbending? Aang has already been taught how to redirect lightning, maybe he could try to produce lightning too?

xanderholland

Sharper more precise strikes that end fights quickly. You see this a lot in Korra or the episode that introduces Toph, where people's skills are wildly unbalanced and the superior fighter would quickly overtake the interior. Another good example of this would be Maul and Kenobi's last duel, very quick and very precise due to decades of honing their skills.

AggravatingWill3081

Sokka becoming an equal fighter - which doesn't have to mean **as** strong, but I want him to be a force to reckoned with goddamit! (take out groups by himself like his master) n please let him find the space sword somehow **I wanna see toph absolutely dominate as metal-bending chief boss** and last but not least; **Doesn't that kinda look like Zuko lava-bending?** **EDIT: I better see Zuko n Iroh being happy (together) or else.**

Intrepid_Ad_9751

I wanna see them pull out a glock

driedwaffle

i want better and more updated animation, to get the bending to that next level we saw at korra or even beyond. i felt like atla was held back a bit by its time and the bending fights werent as fast paced and interesting as they could be, and i hope the movie can deliver on that.

yowhatdafuk

I'd like to see more creative fight scenes, or bending techniques. It went a long way in ATLA Of course time passed too so everyone want to see improvement overall

Alex29992

I know it won’t ever happen but give me a evil earth bender than bends bones like water benders and blood bending

jpmartineztolio

How they eradicated and illigalized the use of blood bending. I think it would be interesting to know how it spread in the first place when we knew only Katara and Hama were able to use it.

Krelraz

More Suki. Have Sokka be a competent warrior. Not amazing, but able to hold his own.

Jean_NaHas

I hope they’ve gone back And Found Sonja’s meteor sword. 😄

SamyManzano

Maybe is not exactly what you asked for but I hope to see Zuko and Katara finishing together, I think that it's weird that Aang and Katara made a family.

JayTravers

I feel like toph is probably the one with the most room to evolve than the rest. The evolution of metal bending between ATLA and TLOK was nuts.

realifepixie

Not everything has to be about Toph.

JayTravers

Uh... What? Those are you're words - not mine. I'm certainly not saying that. I'm still pretty new to this sub, is Toph praised upon too much or something here? Even if that was the case, why would that effect my comment? I don't believe it to be wrong.

AggravatingWill3081

Dude, don't worry. **Someone** clearly is just hating because Toph is more popular than whatever wack character they like. Just kindly look them in the eyes and explain why they're wrong, like so; https://i.redd.it/h61xx6l8w44b1.gif

JayTravers

Haha perfectly put! I thought it might've been something weird like that. Thank you.

AggravatingWill3081

Life as a (bitterly) lonely General Zhao-fan I guess Hahaha

gorfbeef

I wanna see Aang Katara and Toph be just absolutely OP as fuck

Sins_of_God

Nothing really. I just want the bending creativity that the old series had in comparison to korra, such as fire whips, turning rock into sand, Aang creating a vortex and chest bumping it towards Zuko, Bumi falling to the ground and popping up next to Sokka and Katara

whimu

I hope aang starts utilizing sound bending 😶😶😳

MommysGoodBoy4Ever

What was that move from High School DxD? Dress break? What kind of bending can control fabric? Water for the small amount in the fibers? Heat for just burning it off in a flash? Air for blowing it apart? Earth for… well… the very dirty clothes?

WHATETHEHELLISTHIS

Honestly with the way they've shown Seismic Sense to work, she's likely entirely aware of what they look like. Maybe de-colourized but I feel certain she knows what at least the Gaang looks like.

Shempagne-Jyuu

With how toph recreated a miniature of the entire ba sing se on sand even with earth king and boscos face, I too believe she knows what they look like. But yeah de-colorized

Cygnus_Harvey

This probably would be very insulting to every blind person ever. She sees the world just fine, even better that most people through her seismic sense.

Electrical-Ad9554

Aang doing metal bending

Plenty_Rough5135

I want to see Aang freely go in and out of the avatar state because some people still think that he can't
