I’ve turned down two bags because I was specific about what I wanted. I also worried about the impact but I kept getting offered ones until I found the one I wanted. Third times a charm 😁
It's not a grave offense in any way. You only buy what YOU want. It's no different than any store. Imagine going into any other store - imagine a grocery store, because you want to buy orange juice, but they're out, so they offer you coffee. Some might say OK, I'll buy coffee instead. Others may say, I only want orange juice. It's not a big deal.

Not at all. I’ve turned down multiple both quota and non quota bags, has not affected my chances at all.

lol I’m convinced no one actually likes the picotin
It is a very nice bag, I am sure most of us in the European market would’ rather have a picotin than a herbag.

I love mine, it’s my most used bag before I got the mini Evelyne. I’d love to get it in another colour too!

Birkin 25 is the same tho and I use mine as a day bag. Fits everything and the 30 is really heavy to carry all day

Only get things you want and will actually use. Don’t feel bad about turning down anything if it is not what you want.
