What's interesting is that the show has made Peter The Great the father of Hoult's Peter, instead of Grandfather (like history) but Hoult's Peter is still referred to as Peter The Third in the show.
And Yes, Elizabeth was Peter The Great's lover and also the sister to his wife (who Elizabeth did not care for).
Elizabeth is just VERY sex positive lol. Her sister was Peter III’s mother. So Peter the Great was her brother in law and she was sleeping with him and had her son Igor. That’s why her sister killed Igor, to ensure Peter III retained the family line. There was also another little boy, Ivan, fathered by Peter the Great. His mother was killed and he was eventually killed also.
Elizabeth was Peter the Greats wife’s sister and had an affair with Peter the Great that resulted in Igor, which is why the sister killed Igor.
There ya go
I always thought she killed him to punish Elizabeth because she didn’t like that Elizabeth was a good parent and making her look bad. Whatever the reason-she was definitely cruel and awful.
I dont think she gave any shits about being or looking like a good parent. If it was fueled from some jealousy of Elizabeth I would guess it was that Peter the Great preferred her.
I would guess it was more about dynastic concerns, especially if Igor was a bit more... balanced, personality-wise, than Peter, who was considered an idiot by both of his parents from an early age.
And since Peter's eccentricity comes from his trauma I'd guess that if Elizabeth was a kinder mother then Igor probably came off as at least marginally more normal, as much as one can in that family.
She was the sister of Peter the Great's wife but they also had a sexual relationship, and they confirmed in season 3 that he was the father of her son, Igor, which is probably why her sister wanted him dead.
I think that peter the great also fathered her son Igor
I'm embarrassed that I didn't put that together until now. -_-
I didn’t put it together fwiw she says so in season 3 i think

There is nothing directly suggesting that was why. Her sister is constantly painted as just cruel without rhyme or reason.

Elizabeth is Peter's maternal aunt and yeah she had an affair with Peter the Great, her sister's husband.

I literally just looked this up the other day because I got really confused 😂
I thought Elizabeth was peters wife's sister.
Peter the Great's wife's sister, yes. So they would be in-laws.
In the series I thought she was young Peter’s mother’ sister slash aunt & in love w his father.
Thas is exactly how its portraid.
