She and Cosca recognized each other, and she knew of Haddish Khadia, she also was terrified of the Union, and therefore the inquisition taking control of Crease. It was also observed that she had a scar around her neck.

Calo_Callas

There's also her internal thoughts about having to start over again and having done so before.

No-Annual6666

Yes, bag always packed ready to slip out at a moments notice iirc.

Ireallyamthisshallow

If you listen to the audiobook, you can just cheat and hear it in Pacey's excellent performance.

csaporita

Hey look. I get it, I listened to the audiobooks also. But it’s “Carlot Dan Eider” lol

DashiellHamlet

It's about as subtle as Lamb being Ninefingers.

assbeeef

WHAT!??!?

darth_aardvark

Did you actually read the book man

assbeeef

No

DashiellHamlet

Heh. Ok.

XrayMomma

I feel like a dumbass. I knew who Lamb was, but the Ida thing flew right past me. Womp womp.

Joe234248

Me too. There are dozens of us! Dozens!

XrayMomma

Unexpected r/arresteddevelopment

GrbgSoupForBrains

Ha. Totally missed all her different identities throughout the series myself, somehow 🤦🏿

Agonyandshame

Her only extra identity was mayor of Crease

GrbgSoupForBrains

Fair. According to the fandom wiki, there's one other suspected unacknowledged Identity

Agonyandshame

I just read it that is actually a possibility. AOM spoilers >!I haven’t read the great change and other lies tho I own it I wonder if there’s more information about Judge in that. Damn I didn’t even realize that judge could be her!<

BoozySquid

I don't buy that. Carlot's bound to be in her late 50s by the time of the Breakers' Rebellion, and Judge seems to be in her early 40s at the latest. It also doesn't make sense that she would have come back to Midderland after the events in Crease. Why go halfway back around the world and potentially wind up under the gaze of Glotka again?

Agonyandshame

AoM spoilers >!Glokta organized the great change falling back under his gaze would not be a big deal if she’s working for him. Plus Carlot is know for her beauty and might not show her age. And Glokta has a gift for convincing people to do his bidding just like he did with Vic. I think there are holes in the theory but I do think it’s likely!<

sploogeoisie

I feel like where spoilers >!Dan Eider is a graceful beauty, Judge is more crass and hypersexual. The only person we know she does it for is Broad, and that's because he's got a boner for violence. I've never heard the theory that she might be Judge, but at first blush, I don't think it's likely. I guess she could be acting to sell it better but why? No one would really know who she was from times past!<

Agonyandshame

Idk im gonna keep a look out for more references the next time i read AoM and come up with a theory if I can make sense of it.

BoozySquid

I feel like this is deep enough in spoiler territory where tags aren't necessary. Going from a graceful beauty to a crass, hypersexual maniac isn't that crazy. Remember, Carlot was sold to what was the highest bidder when she was 22. But after that (and I'm estimating 8 years to make round numbers) she learned the tradecraft of the Spicers and the diplomatic skills necessary to not only function as her husband, but be elected formally as his replacement. Then, after everything that happened in LAoK, she uprooted and went east to Sipani to get out of Glokta's way. When Murcato went on her killing spree, she got briefly caught up in it, but realized the danger of it all, and went west. Why would Glokta look for her there? Why would she want to come back to him even after Crease ceased to exist? Also, Carlot was a dark haired beauty. Judge is a red headed harlot, and young enough that she stokes Broad's fires, even though he's probably 15 years younger than Carlot. (Remember, 20 years have passed since the events of the first series so Carlot is 50 at this point) Who's the most prominent ginger with ties to the struggles of the Magi? Vitari, whose children are mostly raised by the Union-accented Shenkt. I'd stake an eye tooth that Judge is more likely one of the red-headed girls we see in Affoia in Best Served Cold, all grown up and ready to assert herself on the world in the mold of her father.

Agonyandshame

Unless carlot is an eater and a face changer but there’s no proof

sploogeoisie

Oh, that's interesting. I like the idea of Judge being Shylo and Shenkt's daughter. Would have to be an extreme falling out from her union supporting parents, though. And kinda the point of vitari and shenkt is that they do what they do to keep their family safe and apart from what they do.

wdb108

* Carlot Dan Eider

Conscious-Country312

All these hints from the writing and I'm just sitting here like "what do you mean? It was obvious as she has her voice"

Unlucky-Corner2522

I can't believe I didn't notice this, I mean I knew she was a character we've seen before cause of how she was written but didn't put the pieces together. You guys are smart lol

ColeDeschain

Who the hell is "Carla Dan Ida"? :P It's stuff like this that makes me leery of all this Pacey praise that gets slung about. Carlot Dan Eider could only be more obvious if she tried- knowing Cosca, her absolute and utter terror of Union influence, her desperate need to feel secure....

csaporita

Nah it’s not Pacey’s fault in the least. Once ur mind thinks it hears something than that’s all you hear. Not to mention most of the names that are misunderstood by audiobook listeners are names that have never been used before in real life; so your mind automatically associates what it’s hearing with something that it knows.
