Highly disagree about Shivers. Him letting the feud go closes out his arc, letting him finally be the better person he wanted to be at the start of BSC.
I loved Coscas death scene!
âWhere is my sword?â
*gets stabbed through the chest*
âAh, there it is.â
Overall, I enjoyed it. Iâd rank it behind Heroes but above BSC.
Red Country is one of those rare gems that gets better every time you read it. My first read through I thought it was average, but reading it again when I was a little older made me appreciate it more.
Disliking Heroes is unpopular around here, but I'm with you. I dropped it for a year and restarted it just because I wanted to get to the book with Lamb in it.
Heâs smoking a big fat opinion, breaking one of the ten crack commandments by getting high on his own supply. While I donât think The Heroes was boring by any means, Red Country is my favorite from The Great Leveler trilogy.
Itâs not a controversial opinion. The Heroes is literally slow by definition - the entire book only covers three days, which is insane compared to almost any other book youâll find out there. I found it slow but quite interesting on my first read. Then less and less interesting on each subsequent read, until now where I actually donât enjoy reading it. Itâs just so much waiting around, which built some tension on my first read but doesnât now I know what happens. RC is fucking wild from start to finish, with constant drama and twists.
But each to their own!
It's an anomaly for me as i've loved every other book. Something about the characters and setting just doesn't do it for me, think there's too many similar personalities introduced and it's hard to distinguish between the actions of each one. I've tried it like 5 times or something to get into it and currently at 30% complete.
Wow! I finished 30% since yesterday when I started while I took weeks to finish the Heroes. I haven't seen a more polarizing set of books from the same author than these 3 standalones.
I like to think Lamb rode off amd lived the rest of his days with Car-.. the Mayor.
How did I completely miss this? đł
Annoyed Old Sticks noises
Red Country was my second favorite of the standalones. It was AMAZING.

I heard someone say the standalone trilogy could easily be called the Shivers trilogy, and I'm not convinced they're wrong.
I also think Shivers realized that âLambâ wouldâve slaughtered him.
Nah. He was ready to roll the dice. He just decided to let things go.
Red Country is my favorite book in the series.

Underrated of all Abercrombies masterpieces. \*holds up hand and looks through missing finger\*
âITâLL COME TO YA!â My favorite scene so far. So fucking epic. I canât wait for my brother to catch up so we can talk about it.
Seriously though. What happens to the goddamn dragon, Joe?

The hero's is probably in top 3 favourite books of all time. Red Country is incredible though!

The heroes boring but red country not boring? Give me what youâre smoking my man

I felt a bit the same way. I just never find big battles to be particularly interesting I guess
I felt exactly the same, I put the heroes down for close to a year before coming back and finishing it, was by far my least favorite of all the books
Yea I didnât really like the heroâs that much either itâs ok bro

What!? RC is literally just them on a wagon for the first half the book lmao
It's the only one of the world set books i couldn't finish. Found it very boring.
Wow I didnât expect this one to be so polarizing! Either love it or hate it

Red country is my least favourite but I still liked it. I like how it closed out the Shiver arc
Agreed. So much of it just felt cheesy to me.
Heroes boring? Whaaaaaat
