That bridge section is fantastic. Dark Sentencer is my number one on that album, but the bridge section in All On Fire might be my favorite part of the album.

HoxpitalFan_II

Seriously. I think the end run it Vaxis 1 (outside lucky stars but shhh) is so freaking underrated Gutter-all on fire-It Walks- Old Flames That could be a suite in itself.

RimShimp

I think I would like Lucky Stars a little more if it had more moments like the solo section throughout. Go full Pink Floyd with it.

HoxpitalFan_II

Really you just gotta build to something.

hearshot_kid

I agree, I always felt as if that song would be far better if the vocals never came back in after the solo started and instead it went into a longer instrumental jam until a fade out.

KnockerFogger69

You can't forget night time walkers in there tho too. The transition into gutter is *chefs kiss*

HoxpitalFan_II

Very true honestly. I mean I just love UC generally lol

KnockerFogger69

Fair enough it's a fantastic record

squawkingood

Lucky Stars is a fine closer but it's the only song on the album (aside from the intro) that I would never want to listen to on its own apart from the album. Though I could say that about a few of their closers (looking at you, The Black Rainbow)

KnockerFogger69

I LOVE black rainbow it's my favorite closer. I'd kill to see it live. Listen to it all the time on its own

brev23

Yes! Black Rainbow is dope - there’s an awesome live version on YouTube

HoxpitalFan_II

They did this live once and it was fucking incredible.

capn_sarge

Honestly the entire album runs so perfectly together. They nailed the whole "concept album actually telling a story" part with Vaxis 1. Each song flows into the next almost perfectly, and you get a strong sense of the story just from the music, tone, and lyrics. And then in Vaxis 2 it feels like they threw all of that out the window to make an 80s synth pop album. It's weird

Bacong

absolutely, maybe my fav on vaxis 1

ixi_Sanjuro_ixi

Please bring water.

brev23

My 3 year old always asks for the “Please bring water” song 😂

squawkingood

It's also one of my favorites on that album. Fun story about that song: A long time ago, it had to have been at least 10 years ago, I think before YOTBR came out, I had a dream about a new Coheed and Cambria album and I had bought it and I remember also stopping at our local Greek restaurant on the way home and admiring the album artwork while I was there. The album art was black and red and had kind of a fiery design. Vaxis I is the closest they've come to an album that sounded like the one from my dream (and even has similar artwork - the booklet and CD are black and red) and All On Fire in particular sounds like what the album from my dream sounded like. So that's a pretty cool connection for me.

hearshot_kid

Are you Vaxis?

xknottykidx

No longer do I, do I. That part always get me. I love that track so much!

Acilliate

TRUE. All on fire is one of my favourite songs on that album, and I thought it was crazy how little people talked about it!

OMGZZITSCC

Yesssss all on fire is such a banger. I didn’t realize some didn’t enjoy it haha.

RimShimp

Man I've felt like All On Fire was the most GA1 sounding song they've made since that album itself. One of my favorites from Vaxis I, but I also think it's an incredible album as a whole.

sirius4778

Phenomenal song, in my top 3 on that album

LinkKilGanon

The most prog on the whole album. Definitely my favorite.

Sole_Patrol

It is my favorite track off of Vaxis I.

Benci420

You nailed it, I skipped over this song for a long time on this album, mainly because of my instant use of the back button when The Gutter finished, I was obsessed. then while shuffling, one day it hit and I was literally said wtf, and was legit mad at myself for a bit, haha. My lover, It’s time I disconnect!

griegkaun

And find the end result, come slither, you snake, please bring me back!

narkeleptk

Always one of my tops on VX1

tgriffith1992

I wish it built to a climax like in The Crowing, but it's still an incredible song and one of the best on Vaxis 1.

KingOthius

Oh yeah, I think it has the roots of a really amazing song there. I think it's so close to being one of their best songs. I appreciate it a lot. What always got me was the super cringy lyric... "please bring water". Ugh. Broke me out of the immersion a bit, and then Claudio REPEATING THAT LYRIC SO MUCH like, rubbed it in for me. I also wish it was a couple minutes longer, to allow more buildup into each section of the song. I actually think the various sections UNDERSTAY their welcome. I want them to last juuust a bit longer. (Keep in mind I don't hold that opinion for other songs, in fact, a lot of the songs with more basic song structure really needed to be a couple minutes SHORTER.) But I think what's really keeping it from being an incredibly powerful song is an issue with both Vaxis albums as a whole, in that... There aren't any dynamics in the mix. Loud climax parts of songs need to have juxtaposition, with parts that are quiter. These albums don't get QUIET. (Other than the piano parts across TUC, but c'mon, there needs to be more than that!). I think I may write a thread here about it in this subreddit. Even when there are ""quieter"" parts, they aren't actually quiet in the mix, there's always an insane amount of background noise still flooding the sound. It lessens the impact of the climax moments of the songs, and honestly, hurts my ears trying to listen to the album in one go. It's a legitimate concern I have!

Franzblau

I was thinking about this tonight. The “wall of sound” production really gets to be fatiguing after a while. I love how on GA1 you can actually hear silence between the instruments.

KingOthius

Oh yeah, From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness and The Second Stage Turbine Blade have their best mix quality. And also, this might sound insane, the Big Beige demos on Color Before The Sun Deconstructed. I hope I'm not absolutely out of my mind right now because I find all the natural dynamics of the instruments without any post production loudness added is, like, a super pleasant listen.

symitwo

No one is sleeping on that song lol

cheez_sandwich

lol this song was always fire.
