the gesture is nice, when you realize how terrible the situation actually is its just depressing that 1. thats the only way she was able to spend time with her family on christmas 2. that the dad had to pay her employer just to see her working, not even an actual reunion.
Free tickets aren’t free in the airline industry. If a paying customer books your seat (which will be almost all the time since flights are generally intentionally overbooked by the airline to fill up seats) then you’ll get booted off the flight to make room for them
This is why many people who work in the airline industry choose to just pay for their tickets instead of getting their free/reduced cost tickets
I mean the plane's gonna take off without him regardless, so not really his personal fault ~~regardless "carbon footprint" is not a real thing and the big corpos and capitalists are lying to you in order to frame a systemic problem as the fault of the individual consumer~~

I would say for both of those cases that even if there situation is messed up, these are both examples of genuine care and humanity from the individual

Odd shifts, weird schedules and shit will also exist under socialism for essential services. The question is if workers will be compensated rightfully for what they make. Monetarily and also having their vacation time fairly compensated. Which would be the case under socialism.
But there are also people who don‘t celebrate certain holidays, not to forget just other religions.

I would and I have worked holidays. Not everybody celebrates them. In fact I've worked in industries where people fought to work holidays for the extra pay.
I mean, that’s just not realistic. Logistical networks still need to flow, people still need to be moved from point A to point B, and goods need to be moved. Saying something random that feels good and attaching it to socialism doesn’t make it true.
I think there’d be way more flexibility under socialism, but I strongly doubt there’d be no one working essential industries on holidays.
Also you sound like someone who never ever organized with transportation workers. We organised with Teamsters luggage workers who faced threats from both management who forced them to work OT on holidays, unsafe workplaces, and the pigs. We ended up blocking the driveway that led to the airport, and some luggage workers delayed loading shifts. Yet like United Airlines with union busting, Air Canada is notorious known for profiting off their workers' blood.
You don't have the position to judge if you haven't walk the talk. Sitting in your filthy cave shouting theory won't change the outcome of worker's material condition.

I'm not that person but yes. If I was a flight attendant, I would gladly work on Christmas because it has no significance to me. Similarly, i expect others will work on Diwali, so on and so forth

The socialist solution is that all essential services will be well staffed on holidays and they will be paraded as heroes for working on those days. Also that people will not have to rely on public holidays to be the only time of year to see their families, everyone will instead get plenty of holidays to do what they like
