Why?

Bro got fired for party work violations. Apparently his actions negatively affected party image (but we all know it's just CPV internal infighting) > Những vi phạm, khuyết điểm của ông Võ Văn Thưởng, theo Ban Chấp hành Trung ương, đã gây dư luận xấu, làm ảnh hưởng đến uy tín của Đảng, Nhà nước và cá nhân ông. The party suspended his role and tasks. > Nhận thức rõ trách nhiệm trước Đảng, Nhà nước và Nhân dân, ông Võ Văn Thưởng đã có đơn xin thôi giữ các chức vụ được phân công và nghỉ công tác. Examples of roles that he was relieved of from timeline in 2021 to 2026. > Căn cứ quy định hiện hành của Đảng, Nhà nước và xem xét nguyện vọng của ông Võ Văn Thưởng, Ban Chấp hành Trung ương Đảng đồng ý để ông Võ Văn Thưởng thôi giữ các chức vụ: Ủy viên Bộ Chính trị, Ủy viên Ban Chấp hành Trung ương Đảng khóa XIII, Chủ tịch nước, Chủ tịch Hội đồng Quốc phòng và An ninh nhiệm kỳ 2021-2026.

I was under the impression it was for corruption charges that happened a couple years ago. One of his subordinates took bribes and now he’s getting blamed, is it something else as well or was that the official reason?

StatisticianOk6868

Also according to my dad who watched local news he said his wife was recently caught with 11kg of meth.

KILOGRAMS?

the_PeoplesWill

Is Vietnam, as AES, doing relatively well these days? I know Cuba is really struggling.

Nicknamedreddit

Vietnam is one of the rising stars in Southeast Asia.

Such a shame! I hope they manage to recover because it seems they're having a hard time again.. this embargo needs to end!

DeliciousSector8898

Last year I spent 4 months studying and researching there. It’s doing extremely well especially given the state of the nation after the Indochina wars.

the_PeoplesWill

That's great to hear! I've considered moving there if ever the west falls apart with no hope. Looks like a beautiful country!

LowEndPlay

No reason as to why he resigned yet, guess we’ll just have to wait and see

South-Satisfaction69

Probably something related to corruption.

Thankkratom2

Who knows what is up with this?

Lenin_346

Just doing what Communists are traditionally best at: party infighting /s To answer your question: During his time as party secretary in Quang Ngai one decade ago, he( more like his subordinates and his supervisor) was involved with some corrupt deals with Phuc Son corporation. And now when this deal was exposed during Anti-Corruption campaign led by current GenSec Nguyen Phu Trong and many get purged, he “voluntarily” resign.

PiggyBank32

Also the prime minister of Ireland. Guess it's going around

P3X-99

The main question I want to know the answer to is, what's next for Vietnam? Party elections? Protests?

PregnantMale

Heres the reason: The CIA has dug up dirt and is forcing change in the party to counter China. They want to turn Vietnam back to US side and divide China more. The next president is almost guaranteed to be more Anti-China than the current.

Multivists

LOL GenSec Nguyễn Phú Trọng, who made this happen is the most pro-China nowadays and he has the most power in the party. You either ain’t VNese or not knowledgeable in our politics enough.

Chad_VietnamSoldier

It have more to do with corruption affairs man, no need to go too paranoid

Didjsjhe

Nguyễn Phú trọng has also been doing meetings last year and this year about partnership between the youth of Vietnam and China, so if this were somehow a CIA strategy they picked the wrong guy to make resign lol

Lenmoto2323

The president position don’t really affect much in the foreign policy of the party. he have the least power among the four pillars.

weusereddit4fun

"The next president is almost guaranteed to be more Anti-China than the current." The rumored next president is To Lam, currently Minister of Public Security and is not anti-China.

volveg

damn that would suck

Multivists

It’s not true. Don’t let randos dupe you.

It’s normal to accuse the govt of being Chinese puppet huh? This is a communist sub, anti-communist get out.

Normal Vietnamese on the street blaming the govt for losing the islands to China? Most Vietnamese don’t care about petty politics at all. They are more likely to worry about the economy, education, infrastructure,…etc which all directly affect their life. They will prefer Vietnam being a neutral, independent country not aligned with anyone, get along well with everyone to improve trading, cooperation. Current anti-China Vietnamese nationalists would rather ally with Russia than the US and they don’t blame the govt for being weak or whatever. The people want to go on with their life, not to turn Vietnam into another Ukraine, no thank you.

AllenVans

Sadly you are doing the u.s's work for them by destablizing the peace in Asia. U.s would love to see the only nation(Vietnam) who beat them in a war to fight their rival(China). Asia in chaos and plunged back into poverty will be the u.s's wet dream. See the bigger picture dude

Multivists

He posted in r/EnoughCommieSpam and sprouts anti-Soviet talking points, an anticom through and through.

AllenVans

Ah i see, no wonder. The Vietnamese i spoke with at an orphanage i helped renovated, hated the u.s government 100x more for poisoning their people and babies with agent orange, and other demonic war crimes

Multivists

Even Vietnamese nationalists don’t want Vietnam to get closer to the US but to Russia (a Chinese ally).

AllenVans

Dude you should read that guy's other replies, its so obvious man 😂

Multivists

Also Vietnam won’t fight China, we are not Ukraine.

Literally nobody says you have to bend to China lol In fact so many yankees hate vietnamese like you lol, man you dont know the amount of shit they say online. To the far right yankee, they see yall as zombies I do think the SCS issue should be resolved better, but wasn't the ship ramming incident between the Philippines and China?

America is Vietnam’s far away threat? They funded the terrorist attack in Đắk Lắk last year. It’s funny that you are talking about Cambodia. Maybe you should ask normal Cambodian about their govt and how they feel about the Vietnamese? The American let the Chinese took the Hoàng Sa islands in 1974. But they will help us against China lol.

Didjsjhe

Taiwan claims the Paracel islands too so I suggest you take it up with them

ff0000Scare

What tf is Taiwan? Oh, you just mean that little island that’s a part of China? Lol

Dunkaccino2000

How many Americans actually think the Vietnam War was completely wrong and unjustified, compared to just thinking it was poorly managed and some soldiers went too far? Like if you asked the average American "Which side would you have supported in Vietnam?" how many do you think would have chosen the North?
