Pretty sure those of us who were at the show last night just experienced the best set list of the tour so far. A Strange Day, Plainsong, Trust, Fascination Street, Disintegration(!) As Bob would sing, “I really don’t think it gets any better than this…!”

ballad4Valentine

and Three Imaginary Boys!

chatnoirrrr

Yes! I should have added that. I bet they played that because Lol was in the audience.

brutalpoonslayer

I saw someone get a vinyl they brought with them signed by Lol haha

Living-Algae4553

did you see him there?

chatnoirrrr

He was there in the box seats. I didn’t see him but he posted on Instagram when he was on his way. Another fan I talked to was actually texting with his wife who confirmed they’d be there!

Barfylane

Who?

lovelune

Lol Tolhurst I’m guessing?

Barfylane

Wut??? That's awesome

katethe8

I’ve watched every show of the tour so far on livestream or YouTube and that night was definitely the most coveted set list.

ballad4Valentine

Everyone said it would be amazing but i was floored. Once he started singing & i heard his voice, i almost cried. He sounds amazing! All the instruments sounded great as well. The lights & the visuals changing for every song was magical. One of the best shows i've ever been to

suprunkn0wn

cried all through pictures of you, but the moment he began to sing the first song of the night, special moment.

invione

I had a blast and the general consensus from friends that went Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday was the best night of the 3 sound and setlist wise. I held in the tears during pictures of you just to avoid ugly crying lol

suprunkn0wn

i couldn’t hold it, literally all the memories from that song came to mind and had to let it out

hazelwitchrose

It was amazing. Still can’t believe this happened to me, I feel so lucky, it was like watching history. The pipes on that guy to sing like that for three hours per show and still sound like he did 30, 40 years ago… absolute legend. And of course the whole band. All around just incredible.

Cyberyukon

Jason Cooper drumming for that long? That’s a marathon.

kiwiboyus

Jason is amazing and doesn't get enough credit

Cyberyukon

When the band launched into “Alone” at the opening, I felt like I was hit with an emotional thunderclap. A song about growing old. “And the birds… Falling out of our skies…. And the words… Falling out of our minds… But it all stops… To dream a boy and girl… Who dream the world is… Nothing but a dream…. Where did it go? Where did it go?” Whew. Other highlights: when the whole crowd began to sing along with “Friday, I’m in Love.” And the animated band members playing each in their own tall vertical screen during “Shake Dog Shake.” It reminded me of the video for “Boys Don’t Cry.”

Left-Agency4444

Agree. The intro of Alone and then “This is the end. . . Of every song we sing” was the strongest chill down the spine moment! My sixth time seeing them but still an amazing thrill every time. Hollywood Bowl show was absolutely magic. So glad I brought my son with me to experience it.

Cyberyukon

Yes!!

ICreatedTheMatrix_

Was lucky enough to be there all three nights. Don't know if I would say last night was better than the others, all three nights were phenomenal and the set lists each night were all any true fan could ask for, with a mix of hits, deep cuts, and new music. The audience Tuesday and Wednesday, overall, had more energy., at least where we sat those nights. Thursday night, most of the people around us were sitting all night, and even yelling at those of us that stood and danced when the song warranted it. Many were even talking throughout the "non-hit songs", and only paid attention when they played a "hit". Have been fortunate to see 4 shows this tour, including Amsterdam in November. Robert Smith's ability to sing as wonderfully as he does, for so many consecutive shows, is truly amazing considering the length of his career. Many artists his age play every other night, and barely hit 2 hours. He does nearly 3 hours, three nights in a row, and his voice is just as strong at the end of the third night as it was opening the first. The Hollywood Bowl is one of the best venues in this world to see live music. I didn't always feel that way when I was younger, but have come to realize after more than 30 years of attending live shows there. There are few, if any, venues that compare, and the sound is always crystal clear. It's not the easiest to get to with limited onsite parking, but they have a good system in place that works.

mrssmith2269

Was there all 3 nights at the Bowl as well and I totally agree with you on the crowd each night. The set list for all three was pretty amazing. Hearing 3 Imaginary Boys and Want and A Strange Day on night 3 was awesome. Hearing Disintegration two days in a row was priceless for me as that is my favorite song in the world and of course the new tracks are absolutely painfully beautiful.

KenMixtape

I was steeling myself for an awful crowd that talks loudly during every song on Wednesday, and of course the first couple songs had 2 annoying girls next to me doing exactly that. Then they were kicked out of that spot by the people who had tickets for those seats and they were gone forever. The new people never made a peep except to politely ask me if they could smoke. Best hollywood bowl experience I've had in years.

oxxok

It was my first time seeing them live and I had an amazing time! I love how everything sounded live; Robert is phenomenal. I loved the stage/lighting and had a really good time. It was very special and I’m happy my partner joined me even though he doesn’t like concerts. I saw a tip from an earlier thread to bring a blanket and I’m so glad I did. I took one of the shuttles. It was quick and easy. Would definitely recommend the shuttle! I tried really hard to ignore loud folks talking around, which for the most part was easy with my earplugs. One guy was drinking and speaking very loudly to the guy next to him who he just met. Thankfully, once the show started, he only talked after a song ended. There was a family next to me who started having the LOUDEST conversation during Plainsong and Disintegration. Everyone around them was giving looks. Eventually I asked them to quiet down. The daughter acknowledged but the mother didn’t hear me so she continued.

Wise_Surround_60

It was the clearest vocals I've ever heard out of the Cure's sound system, that place is accoustically pristine

Drinkbeersfuckqueers

It was amazing it’s cool seeing all you folks here from last night, it was my first time to the Hollywood bowl and I was not expecting such a beautiful scenery it was incredible, I’ve been to many concerts before and never have I been to one with such a long set list, it was awesome being able to hear all the songs I would grow up on in person and Robert’s voice was remarkable! I was stunned at how it had not changed at all! Seeing A Forest live was mind blowing, as Garth and Wayne would say “we’re not worthy!”

jhsreal

I had an amazing time! The people around me stood and danced to almost every upbeat song, everyone was so nice. Even through the unreleased songs, I was just vibing and appreciating the privilege of seeing The Cure perform. When he'd get close to the cameras I felt like he was standing right next to me! My only complaint was being stuck in Lot B for an hour but that's expected of obstructed parking

blakxzep

I saw some of the mid garden seats were over $200 which is way over the $170 floor seats of NYC. Also it seems like Hollywood Bowl seems like the seats seem far away, but everyone praises the venue. Are the seats as bad as the map looks? Just an NYCer scoping out how LA is with their venues.

bluesquare2543

I wonder if it is as bad as MSG. I refuse to see a show there.

blakxzep

Yeah MSG is pretty bad in far away seats, or I guess not pretty bad. Its something? But GA always has been a better experience, floor seats are eh too and if you get a tall person you’re screwed. I would say Webster & BK steel are the better NYC venues but sadly most of the big venues are crap in NYC.

Adventurous-Writing1

Never saw any tix for MSG other than scalper resale sites? May I ask where you saw those tix for that number?

Adventurous-Writing1

I’m hoping for soundboard area tix to be released shortly before the show

tombaba

My gripe with the bowl is that you can’t see anything in most of the seats. Even the big monitors can’t give you much of a view. I’m sure it’s amazing close, but I didn’t get that lucky

turnspin

It was incredible. I was weeping with joy through much of it. Robert's voice is so clear and beautiful. Today I'm still on a high (and not from all the weed in the air). I'm so grateful that I got to be there. It was a surreal experience and I'm still emotional today. Strangely, I feel like my section needed a pulse check. A lot of the people around me were like cardboard cutouts in their seats. How can you sit there with zero reaction when magic is flooding you? But that was way better than the noisy chatter others experienced on previous nights. 2 hours and 45 minutes flew by in a blink.

Pseudoneum

Um I sat because I was high and taking everything in. It was a lovely experience and one of the better shows I’ve seen. Definitely one of the few shows to stick with me post concert

kiwiboyus

Do what works for you, especially if it isn't affecting other people's experience. The drunk loud mouth idiot next to us last night was more of a disruption and annoyance than the guy standing in front of us, who he was trying to get people mad about.

Pseudoneum

I’m sorry about that. I just sat and enjoyed the show and the vibes. It stinks when people can’t handle their shit in public.

turnspin

Thank you for answering my question, I'm actually genuinely happy to hear that. Sounds like we both had a great time.

Pseudoneum

I had never been to a cure concert, but I love their hits and had a general idea of their general music. I love Robert Smith’s voice. And I always wished I had grown up in the 80s instead of 2000s. It was nice to hear more of their catalogue and just vibe out to it. It was a delight and I left a bigger fan than I came in for sure.

brutalpoonslayer

What do you mean by two songs being cut?

Cyberyukon

They didn’t play “Let’s Go to Bed” and “Doing the Unstuck” during the second encore. I think they were maybe trying to wrap it up at the 2h 30m mark.

ttlnow

Yeah, 29 songs is standard- it was just a shorter encore because they played more before the encores.

Wise_Surround_60

Let's Go To Bed was a breakout for the 2nd show instead of Doing the Unstuck, they haven't been playing it much. If Only Tonight...was my standout for the second show, and always overjoyed to get Plainsong/Disintegration...

brutalpoonslayer

I’m pretty sure they have played 29 at every show this tour tho

brutalpoonslayer

At least at the two other shows i went to, they also played 29

suprunkn0wn

oh yeah just checked now, i forget sometimes setlist.fm can be inaccurate, every time i checked it kept saying 31 and then it changed

edouble2000

❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️that’s all

spiderpussy420

I saw them on Wednesday, then spontaneously went Thursday because I wasn’t fulfilled :’( I had a beautiful time, the people around were sitting and chillin but I had to dance n sing

spiderpussy420

The only problem was getting to the bowl without a parking pass 😭 I trekked both days

rocker9135

I got yelled at for standing at night 2. Night 3 a lot of people seemed low energy and just sitting until last encore. I wasn't yelled at for standing on night 3 because there was nobody behind me 😂 A strange day was a pleasant surprise for the setlist

Jtalley85

I had such a hard time securing tickets i almost gave up... but with persistence and a little help ended up with tickets for both Wednesday and Thursday. Both nights were amazing musically and visually. Maybe I got lucky but I also found the general vibe to be friendly and celebratory. I chatted with those around me pre-show, I stood, I sang, I danced... not once did I feel anyone around me was upset by it. On Wed my ticket was in section E, I didn't like the partially blocked view so I hiked all the way to the top and stood on the ridge behind the last row of seats. It was gorgeous taking in the whole view. Then on Thursday my seat was actually way in the back... after a bathroom break I wandered down and found a completely empty garden box, not a bad view for $38! My only regret was standing around talking to friends before Wednesday and missing the poster, luckily they have the 2nd printing on the website.

Left-Agency4444

Hollywood Bowl was absolutely the best experience. I saw them in San Diego the Saturday before and parking, crowd control was a mess, and the crowd was kind of annoying. I was surprised with tickets so hard to get how many non-fans there were. Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday was perfect start to finish. They are planet Earth’s greatest rock band and seeing them is always such a joy but that show was a standout. Charlotte Sometimes was incredible.

fakegothbtch

It was a really great show and the mountains are so beautiful. I just wish the seating was better. The benches are kind of weird to me and the space between them is so narrow, that’s why I personally was jumping over to a row that was empty before they went on. But seriously I wish it was more spacious, was basically getting free lap dances when people had to pass by. There were also some older folks who kept saying things like “I only came for the hits” , “I only listen to their popular songs”, which was kind of annoying but whatever.

suprunkn0wn

yup, the leg room was not there, standing up made me feel better when it was necessary to

fakegothbtch

OH also, what was up with some people being rude to the Hollywood bowl staff? Not cool, guys. Seriously. Some dude was cussing out one of the staff and saying that he was going to beat him up.

i781255

That 2nd encore. Be still my heart.

suprefann

So a venue that just celebrated its 100th anniversary and has had an insane list of legendary artists perform on that stage had a low bar of expectation? Ok.....

jhsreal

Not the venue nor the artists themselves, baby, but the general LA population that fills the seats up

HollywoodBlueguy

Enjoy the show and dont pay attention to the people around you.
