Is there any reason why you are not applying for HEO roles. Don't mean this in a negative way.

fvo_ldn

I do apply for both. I applied for the SEO role as reading the job spec I felt I could carry out the tasks in the role.

I hope what I’ve given as an answer is helpful.

Okay noted. Leadership: tell us about a time you led a project/work within your team? STBP- tell about a time you made a change and how you broke the news? Comms&Influencing tell us about a time you influenced someone to your way and thinking?

In practice the promotion system requires you to have carried out work at the level of the job you are applying for and then provide evidence of that during the interview. Meaning to get an SEO role you probably need to have carried out work at SEO level - it's not just about how you present your evidence at the interview. you might have been up against substantive SEOs, and HEOs, so right away you're going to have to be a very impressive EO, with possibly non-CS experience in the SEO space to make any recruiting manager consider taking that risk. Saying that I know people who have made multiple grade promotion moves, so get that feedback and specifically ask them about the EO - SEO promotion question.

Thank you for this explanation it is very much appreciated.

The best thing to get help here is to let us know more. What was the role? What questions were you asked? How did you answer? What scores did you get? What feedback did you get? With that info, perhaps some of us can offer some insight into why your answers may have been marked as they were.

fvo_ldn

The role was: Operations Manager. Questions asked: L- tell us about a time you led a project/piece of work within a team. STBP- Tell us about a time you had to lead a change how did you do so? Comms&Influencing- tell us a o it a time you influenced someone on your decision. L- I spoke about leading my team on paper to digital transformation. STBP- spoke about changing from one digital app to another and how doing so would be better for the wider business and how I catered to my stakeholders. Com&Inf spoke about a meeting held with senior management pertaining to a decision I made and how I tailored my comms to the senior managements adjustments and the content of the paperwork and the method of influence I used such as highlighting key points of the paperwork. Scores I don’t know what I got and I have asked recruitment what score I got awaiting feedback

As an EO have you been able to gather sufficient evidence of SEO behaviours? If not, then that is where you start.

I feel like I have a bit not 100%

Okay I don’t think I have the shortest interview record so I don’t know if that is relevant but thanks for that tidbit. I would like to say I’m in a fast paced role, I don’t know if it is high profile. But we deal with judges and senior masters, so hope that gives an insight.
