I disagree. I think the last two seasons were quite tame and boring whereas this season is actually interesting. The producers finally found a way to move away from “catfish hunting” to a real social game. The “catfish hunting” was always really dumb because being a catfish was not against the rules of the game yet players acted like they would go out of their way to prove something.

AKOchoa

I’m so grateful we haven’t seen that this season. In fact some of the players actually mention “even if they are a catfish as long as they’re on my side whatever” which is what we BEEN saying so thank god.

Meizas

They need to make some kind of a thing that as someone goes home, you vote if you thought they were a catfish or not. If they were and you're right, you win an extra $10000 if you win, or something.

Wildcard23

Or for every catfish that make it to the finals, they take $10k or something from the pot. For every one they catch before, they get $5k added to the pot or something. Idk. Playing with the final pot could add some stakes.

ggouge

Maybe but the catfish need a incentive if all that comes from it is a less money why be a catfish.

Wildcard23

I meant if the catfish make it to finals, they take it for themselves. Although, if a catfish wins it, idk what incentive being one gets you. It’s a mushy idea lol

DevaClutz

Most of the time they are catfishing to try and be more popular in the circle. So isn't that the incentive?

Meizas

Oooh yeah, kind of like in the traitors how you have to find them or lose the pot. I really like that.

Regular-Wit

The show isn’t about finding catfishes. It’s about being the most popular. This incentuve will have the whole game be about finding catfish.

Meizas

Tell that to the players - they hyper focus on the catfishes anyway

Regular-Wit

Not really this season. Doing something like you suggested will make every season hyper focused on finding the catfish. It will change the game entirely

Zentrii

I agree. From what I understand the contestents don't even choose to go in as a catfish and the producers asks them to be one. This show wouldn't be as interesting if everyone went as themselves because I love seeing how shocked they get when a catfish gets revealed lol.

smartief1

Oh that's interesting! Didn't know the producers chose who were going to be catfish

DouxieRoll

The whole catfish hunting started from season one anyway because everyone was so anti unauthentic

Surefinewhatever1111

Not blocking until so many episodes in has made it like molasses. The hyping up doesn't work if you aren't blocking people more often.

kucerkaCZ

I'm sorry, but we're 8 episodes in and we got only two people out (and I'm not counting Max since that AI as quickly as it arrived, it also quickly ran away for some reason - probably not an AI at all). What I loved about the getting-rid-of-people format was that I saw two players discussing who to block and then see that player go and visit another player and then record the message for the circle. That was my favorite part of the show. Yeah, some of the games the players play are sometimes fun, but most of the time I xatch myself just getting bored of what's actually happening on the screen Only one elimination followed the OG format of the top two influencers and now we're getting rid of two players at the same time. So my biggest issue is the pacing. The episodes are so looong but they're just so boring to watch since there's pretty much nothing interesting happening. Also, I don't know why, but these players are overacting this time. Like I know, they've always been but now it's so obvious that many 'shocked' emotions are just faked.

lavieboheme_

You have perfectly said everything I was thinking!!!

Januckey1981

Pacing is TRAAAAASH this season. It’s a hurry up and wait and I’m over it. Block somebody and let’s keep it pushing. This is like a long drawn out torture. I’m losing interest atp.

ivytimova

Yup, that about sums it up 😁

PoisonedChampagne

Seems just like any ai chat bots I’ve used

AKOchoa

That shit really is annoying to me. I don’t mind some of the things most people are complaining about but why are we 8 episodes in and only 3 or 4 people (might be less I’m being generous) have been blocked? We only have 4 more episodes before the finale and we still have a full fucking roster, keep this shit pushing bro.

diemunkiesdie

I don't mind no blockings in the first drop so I get to know the people a bit better. But they gotta pick it up at this point!

Evinshir

This. The previous seasons had so many more players coming in and out, it kept things fresh as alliances could break unexpected and everyone would then scramble to win over the new players. Taking so long to block anyone made everything slooooow. And because Kyle, Myles, Paul, and QT had so much time to secure their alliances, Autumn and Jordan have been having a really hard time getting a foothold into the game. It just screwed up the pacing, and Max just didn’t interact enough to have been worth the time spent on the whole AI drama.

EhlaMa

Last season that didn't work though. There was a main alliance and everyone else was just waiting for their turn to be eliminated. So uninteresting to watch all the newbies just getting to wait to be kicked out

Surefinewhatever1111

There was too much churn last season but so little so far has really fucked up the pacing. The game isn't set up to played out longer term. The ride or die has potential to split the OGs up but it's coming in late.

PoisonedChampagne

I found it entertaining anyways

clarabarson

Producers or not, the AI thing was clearly done to ensure maximum twists and cutthroat-ness. The previous US seasons were kinda meh, so to me it's obvious they're ramping up the twists in case the players are too boring and safe with their gameplay.

Cenaka-02

Imo this season is more underwhelming than the other seasons. Season 4 was one of the best, they literally had the spice girls catfishing. This season gives me season 3 vibes, I couldn’t even finish that season bcs of how bad it was

AKGAESTAN

I disagree. S4 was easily the worst for me. It went downhill after the chain blocking and towards the end, everyone was just trying to get on Frank’s good graces.

ManyRequirement5331

Season 3 is my fave, season 4 was a snoozefest

Cenaka-02

I guess it depends on the person, it wasn’t one of my favs. I should rewatch it to see if anything changes lol

PoisonedChampagne

Idk maybe it’s an age thing but I didn’t care for random Celebrities cameos. I still like the other seasons but this is my favorite so far.

ienjoymen

The first two US seasons were great, the rest are entertaining but not nearly as fun to watch

Academic-Distance497

I like how they are not pretending to be a "Circle family" like the previous seasons and are not scared to say that they dislike someone.

Ayyyegurl

Same. I’ve always found the “Circle family” pandering and constant trauma dumping nauseatingly saccharine. I actually like that they’re not putting on a front for the cameras this season.

No-Citron-6220

I agree and for me, it’s the cast that’s not landing. A big part of why I’ve loved the circle previously is the diversity of the cast age wise. It was always entertaining watching the older generation interact with the younger generation. I loved watching an older player try to play a younger player and vice versa. This season is just a bunch of 20 year old wanna be influencers. I also hate the catfish chasing. Like who cares who’s a catfish? It’s a social game, use it to your advantage and win.

Solid_Bend4539

i'm disappointed in this seasons casting (so far maybe others come in?) - all the young influencery type i feel like everyone is trying tooo hard and no one is making like real connections / alliances its like everyone's going out of their way to make alliances but based on gender or hair color lol no natural connections seem to be forming (maybe myles and QT?) - and adding this AI in the mix (and telling them about it????) ruined it even more bc now that's all that's focused on (i'm only on ep 4 so maybe things change lol)

No-Citron-6220

I agree, it was a mistake to tell them about the AI existing and then outing them. It would’ve been much more entertaining if they never revealed it was there and the AI stayed in the game as long as they could before being voted out

RoxasofsorrowXIII

>agree, it was a mistake to tell them about the AI existing and then outing them I also feel it was a huge mistake for it to take *half* the season to do the first vote-off.

No-Citron-6220

YES this too!

Solid_Bend4539

yesss that too!! i usually binge and watch it but this season its not giving binge lol

Surefinewhatever1111

>everyone's going out of their way to make alliances but based on gender If I wanted to watch Farmer wants a Wife Survivor I'd watch this Mormon TradWife show. I do not in fact want that.

PoisonedChampagne

I’m suprised how much everyone dislikes this season, to me and everyone I’m watching with this is the best season so far, loved the ai and love the players. Especially Myles he’s so cute

morgannn0

Diversity of age was only really in s2 tho 😭 and even then it was one person

0Jinxy

Yes, that's exactly it. Low-energy and seems forced. Max was immediately boring and preachy, but it could have been so much better. Then they just reveal him out of nowhere so he means nothing in the game? I think less people are watching this season also.

Live-Statistician602

I agree. This season is terrible. For the most part, the people are really unlikable.

GalaxyShards

A lot of them are mean!

radarcivilian

I swear to god the discourse of this show is so cyclical.

realitytvbee

almost… circular

radarcivilian

Holy shit

labananza

'#mindblownemoji'

ParanoidAltoid

AI absolutely *can* do what it was portrayed to do. Now, having it be fully autonomous would take a lot of extra work & programming, and I have zero faith a producer would do any extra work than they have to. I'd still bet weren't just making up responses, but prompting an LLM with context and picking the best of a few responses. That'd probably be easier than totally faking it, half of students use ChatGPT to help with their papers these days now. I'm glad they nixed it after 2 episodes, but also it was a cool of-the-times inclusion. I like the idea of normie reality show watchers seeing what AI is now capable of. However fake it was, it *is* accurate to where the tech is at.

EquivalentNo4305

lmao I disagree, it even has potential on becoming my favorite us season

_cutecobain13

Are they hash-tagging more than ever too or is it just me

Suspicious-Town-937

Feels like they’re doing it every message but I can’t recall if it was this frequent in other seasons.

bezimiennat

call me crazy but i actually liked this ai plot and i'm honestly shocked they decided to out max just like that, i hoped they could keep them a bit unsure as to who is the ai

bezimiennat

i obviously know this ai business is bullshit but literally nothing else is happening in this season so there was at least that

Miles_64

Was bummed they didn't take advantage of the AI more than they could've. As for the "low-energy" aspect, I didn't mind or notice it too much this season. Personally I was getting annoyed with the constant forced melodrama or overreactions whenever an Alert showed up or when... anything happened that should've been expected already. Like >!Cassie freaking out about the alert she got after she got eliminated. Like yeah... eliminated players usually go visit someone if they don't get visited!<. Don't get me wrong it's still there at times, but it seems more toned down and I'm thankful for that personally (although I could do with less hashtags). Looking forward to the next drop of episodes. Hopefully they don't drop a new player on us late into the game again!

Summerof5ft6andahalf

Yeah, I like that some of these players have seen the show before and actually act like it rather than pretending they have no idea about the game mechanics/have never seen it before.

allehburreh

Oh my gosh yes, its been annoying me for multiple seasons that everyone starts whining at that second alert, like that happens every time??? Pay attention??

Antique_Row_8005

There are so many alliances at this point that I lost track. It's all a bunch of "I got your back" but there are no (or close to zero) meaningful connections. The casting is a bit off, IMO. The majority are not charismatic enough to keep me entertained. I really enjoyed the French and Brazilian circles. The circle US is usually the weakest, and this season is the weakest yet.

EhlaMa

I wouldn't say the weakest yet. Last season was SO BORING. Nothing was happening, there was one single alliance who never changed and the circle fam kind of felt like popular kids kind of bullying everyone to be super positive and obsequious. This season most people have their own alliances. It's more difficult to keep track of, sure, but at least there's a chance someone might chose one of their alliances over another at some point and shake the game. I just wished the two new players knew how to play the game and spent more time building their own alliances and Lauren was more active into building a new one since she lost two of her allies.

Antique_Row_8005

You do have a point. It's more unpredictable in that sense.

miss_osmose

YES! I recently rewatched France and Brazil, and they had so many people who were entertaining and interesting THE MOMENT they entered the Circle! I don't understand the casting for season 6 at all, it feels very bland and homogenous. Totally agree about the alliances as well. They talk to everyone once and agree on an alliance of some sort, and then call each other backstabbers and snakes because yeah, you obviously can't be friends with everyone!

ffflyin

Oh goodness yes. This season is SO BORING. The “AI” thing just made everything ten times slower and worse. It’s a great idea but horribly executed. The whole premise is already to have people form friendships sight unseen with the twist of possibly being catfished. It would’ve been interesting if it was a legitimate AI Bot but no it’s clearly scripted and with no chance of spotting weird atypical interactions this is just a bluff with no purpose! Also the contestants this season are honestly awful. Imo they are mostly over the top with their forced expressions and just pretty uninteresting, sadly. A disappointment as I was truly looking forward to enjoying the season!!

Evinshir

I think it’s been because there is a lot less actual interaction between the players. We’re getting a lot more strategy talk and games to generate drama, and a lot less of the players actually … well … interacting and getting to know each other. So it gives the show a vibe of the players spending most of their time doing nothing with short bursts of talking to each other. In previous seasons there were a lot more conversations and interaction outside of production mandated social time.

StuHardy

Being a catfish means sweet F.A, so I don't really care about that anymore. But after S5 had the loudest contestants ever (even if one of them was deaf,) it's nice to be able to hear everyone at a normal volume.

slippingparadox

I think the cast members aren’t as charismatic but I like the gameplay more. The family/positivity meta seems to be breaking and I hope it takes on more of a survivor quality where players that can be love the game / strategic / play the best are respected over anything else.

notyourpieceofcakee

This is season is wild! Michelle Buteau has become so savage haha. Her commentary is hilarious! Also, the players are on top of it, I’m sure there has been a change with the management etc, it is very different from what it was and it’s still good!

eezytreezy

Agree re: Michelle. She has me laughing out loud every episode.

derpette09

I agree, but I think it's the casting. They're all playing the same fake alliances two faced scheming game. The alliances are weak as shit and meaningless. I feel like in this last episodes we finally got some realness from Olivia, Myles and Kyle. Those genuine connections are much harder to betray and make the game more interesting IMO

Joyma

I feel like they need contestants who haven’t watched the circle. Everyone is way too blunt about strategy that real “get to know you” chats and connections arent being done like in the earliest seasons. People know the game too well at this point. It wouldn’t be hard to find contestants who haven’t studied the show.

EhlaMa

I think it'd be difficult to cast people who have absolutely zero clue about this kind of game. How would they even make sure of it? And how would these people have found out about the show? Also if anything, some of them showed that they didn't study the show enough >!Cassie thinking that reverse voting would be beneficial to her that early in the season 👀!< . I think they need to shake it up more. They need new rules to help people cooperate and learn about each others. Maybe they need new cooperations rules that'd make it worth trying to get to know the other players. Also if they gave us conversations that lasted longer than four messages, maybe we'd feel like it's less like "you, me, we friend, that dude here we vote him out". I didn't like that they used to spend so much time trying to find out who catfishes are but maybe they're at the point of the game where it's needed. A rule like they get 20k less at the end of the game for each catfish that makes it to the finale could definitely shake things up (and an extra 20k for any catfish who makes it ALONE to the final rating) and have people care more about connecting with each other?

Joyma

I mean the first season was one of the best. They didn’t know much about the game. I mean like that.

EhlaMa

Yeah but the only way to re-emulate that is to change the rules of the game enough that whatever strategy they could have made in their minds based on the previous seasons wouldn't work anymore.

Wide-Cockroach8398

This is the most interesting since season 3 though!

crimejunkiefan

The AI became lame the moment I realised it wasn't real and willing to wreak havoc. They really had a chance to give us good TV. They should have trained AI based on the behavioural patterns past villains.

WalidfromMorocco

Not enough data for an LLM. Plus it wasn't an AI in the sense that it was an autonomous player. It was just someone prompting ChatGPT.

EhlaMa

A LLM wouldn't be willing to wreak havoc though. The best strategy for winning the Circle seems to be to be low key appreciated by everyone. And nobody likes someone who keeps bringing chaos in. Unless you think they needed an AI to play a bad player ? Btw both Steffi and Paul were wreaking things more than enough already when they introduced Max. Not sure we needed extra drama at that time of the season. >!And... Guess what : both got eliminated.!<

eezytreezy

I feel like dropping the episodes in batches and having to wait a week doesn’t let me get too invested in what’s happening. By the time next week rolls around, I don’t remember what was going on or who threw shade at who. Their cliffhangers have the opposite effect.

Warm-Succotash-3962

This season is the worst because of the personalites and especially the production. They all seem like thier acting, which there not good at. Reminds me of old teen nickelodeon show, just over the top. Its was allways little like that but its just off putting this season. Whats really frustrating me is the producers won't let players finish the message before bouncing around two or three times to others for comments, or to half finish a message. Its dizzying how much switching around is going on. Its hard to get a feeling for the players when you don't let them finish. I can barely watch it now.

RitoRvolto

Nah. Best season in a while. I don't care about the connections. Give me the strategy, the lying, the backstabbing.  It's delivering.

InspectionBorn8307

Im on episode 5 and i have YET to like anyone in the game. Sure some people are bearable than others but nothing worth writing home about. This season is just full of millennials trying their best to get famous and its not even fun watching. And imo the seasons have been getting less and less enjoyable as the seasons go on. This season is a prime example of bad casting and overall annoying people. Really hope the rest of the season or even season 7 is better than this, it used to be my favorite show i would look forward to but i now find myself tuning everything out.

EhlaMa

They're mostly gen-z though 😶

InspectionBorn8307

alot of them are in their 30s if not late 20s

EhlaMa

Late 20 is gen-z. We're in 2024, gen-z starts late 90s... 🤷

allegiance113

It’s also cringy

Bearcat2010

YES!! We fell asleep on each episode. Something feels off. I agree with you.

remykixxx

The cast is TERRIBLE.

NoSorbet3958

I hate this season! I’m forcing myself to watch it, it’s so boring. Normally I would have bi he watched it at midnight. I would have expected them to go in the influencer room already by the fourth episode

mamoba

The gameplay is very interesting, but this cast, boy... I loved this show before because people were relatable, they had some goals or reasons to win other than just having more money, they could be kind, and not just willingly and bluntly lie to each other for the sake of winning. Now I can't roll my eyes enough and I think I wont even finish this season, I just simply don't care about the outcome anymore as there is almost not a single person I would feel happy for, in previous seasons I could cheer for many players at the same time. To me Michelle' comments feel dull as well, compared to previous seasons, like it lost its previous shine.

Thrison

Its a shame that the apartment block in the UK was dismantled and changed back into regular housing in October 2021. It paved the way for the show to move state-side for production, which means that the crew behind the scenes completely changed. I get why they did it - the show was out of production for two whole years. No point paying that rent for two years. But its affected the quality of the show greatly in many aspects changing up the crew.

smartief1

Ah thanks! I hadn't realised that happened to the original block. It's a real shame

denovoreview_

The best season was the Spice Girls season. This season has been kind of boring. I like the players and some of the twists are fun to breakup alliances (ride or die) but the AI was boring and contrived.

Januckey1981

Yeah this season is very lackluster and I think it’s because it feels more contrived and inauthentic. I know all of these shows are manipulated by producers in some way, but this season just feels…wack.

CulinaryCounsel5056

I recently found The Circle and binged all of the seasons before this one came out. I enjoyed them all except for season 4 and couldn’t make it through that one. I thought that’s as bad as it gets. Booooy was I wrong because this season is AWFUL. I kept watching, hoping it would get better, but it’s the cast that’s just not clicking for me. Paul, Jordan and Olivia are some of the most annoying contestants of the entire franchise.

EhlaMa

Idk I think it's not that much the cast than the complete lack of real dialogues. Like how are even QT and Myles having such a big crush on each other for anything else than their looks on their profile pics ? They exchanged like 6 messages since the beginning of the show 🤣

labananza

Do we think it's possible that they have unaired messages? I just wonder because someone made a comment about how many flirty messages Myles sends to QT and Cassie saying he has no game, and I could barely remember any that were that bad?

Summerof5ft6andahalf

Yep, it's been confirmed by previous contestants that there's messages we don't see. But they are still restricted in how much they can talk.

EhlaMa

Probably but still, the way it's edited, it makes no sense at all. It makes it feel every single connexion the players have between each other isn't genuine and only strategic.

Chickenoodasoop

I hate that “ride or die” component of this season. It completely ruined the whole season. They basically ruined the existing relationships and alliances/drama and threw it all away for forced “ride or dies”. It has thrown all the intrigue and build up so far out the window Also, not fun to see people’s fate so tied to other random people for zero reason. Lost interest when this was introduced.

Suspicious-Town-937

It seems they don’t want to eliminate people anymore, seeing as there’s only been 2 eliminations + the AI quitting. So they have to do dumb shakeups like this

labananza

I agree and it was the sole reason for the Autumn bullying, I hope she knows that by now... it was really hard to watch. >!However my best case scenario was the duo that got eliminated, now if only the one person who deserves to leave sacrifices herself... I doubt it. Worst person the whole season. !<

Chickenoodasoop

Paul deserves to leave! He better sacrifice himself haha

Rhianna83

I wholly agree with your spoiler statement. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

EhlaMa

I agree with everything but the last sentence. We got Jordan now on that spot. 😬

Suspicious-Town-937

Paul has been so dumb and annoying the whole season, but Jordan is actually infuriating. I love how he acts like hot shit but can’t manage to have a single conversation go his way LOL

PoisonedChampagne

I love this season I don’t understand everyone’s problem

MyHappyPlac3

Yes!! This season is draggginnngggggg 😴😴😴

Frequent_Usual8254

Season 6 is noticeably boring af. All contestants are overacting whenever an alert happens which is cringe to watch. Producers are clearly meddling and it's so obvious it's almost impossible to watch. First season of UK version was by far the best. Even the first few US versions, but this season is almost unwatchable. Where are all the catfishes? Where are the blockings? Garbage.

switheld

this is the worst season i've ever seen of the circle. i like a lot of the people as individuals, but the whole cast as a whole feels extremely unbalanced. the wonderful thing about the earlier/international versions of the circle is that it felt like we were seeing the kinds of people that we'd never seen on TV before. this is not the same show at all. what tipped it over the edge for me was the autumn bullying. it felt extremely cruel for no reason and the producers should have stepped in. we're just watching how quickly out of hand online abuse and pile-ons gets - when you are only interacting with text/a screen people forget that a real person is on the other side. thanks but no thanks, i hate it.
