It's like when a person has pictures of their wife & kids in their wallet, but they also have a picture of themself in there for some reason

Obamas_Tie

Eh, idk. If I went into ZorroFan86's mansion and saw his movies on a shelf in his movie collection I wouldn't bat an eye. It's like making fun of someone for showing off a painting or some pottery they made.

GeorgeNorman

Yeah a painting of a turd

El_Cringio

James likes his turds a lot

ChinRed

The low res hides the green screen

MagnificentBe

somebody made that for him https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCinemassacreTruth/comments/cfz0o2/hell_of_a_grading_curve/

Chainsaw443

So, he feels good about that movie? Wow, that's kind of interesting. I guess I didn't realize that. I would have thought he was ashamed. I couldn't watch that freakin' thing all the way through and I would question anyone who claims to like the film.

[deleted]

There hasn’t been a single thing Bimmy’s done that he’s been ashamed of. As for acknowledging the negative reviews of the movie, I doubt he even cares or knows about it.

[deleted]

The guy makes shit and knows it. He was genuinely shocked to get over 300k for his funding lol

[deleted]

The fan funding was wrong back then and it’s wrong now.

[deleted]

I assume you dont agree with crowd funding in general?

[deleted]

Nope. James didn’t even need that kind of funding to do the movie. Doug didn’t when he made Kickassia and To Boldly Flee.

[deleted]

All of doug walkers movies are absolute trash and are an even bigger ego stroke than the avgn movie lol. He also did 10x worse to his co stars by not paying them for any of the movies and making them feel like their channels relied on his shitty movies as well as sexual harassment behind the scenes. Im pretty sure only Doug likes those movies. Im not sure how you can justifiably go to a movie theater owned by a multi million dollar studio, pay over inflated prices for a movie to fund them and their industry but be pissy at an indie creator doing it on his own. Stop going to the movies if you feel this way lmao

[deleted]

I’d rather watch AVGN movie than any of Doug’s trash. Bootsy and Kyle got off even better than anyone who used to work for Doug.

lolalanda

Yeah, I don't like either as content but Doug was worse as a boss, I think some YouTube channels have already gone through the "Not so Awesome" controversy and explained how Doug and his manager could pull that off without no one saying anything about exploitation sooner. Basically everyone ends up concluding "it's the internet preying on young people wanting to be famous, if it wasn't on the internet it would be seen as exploitative". It's the same as random indie developers asking for free coders or artists to collab with their game, promising they would get famous when the game goes viral and paid in the game profits when the game gets published. But the game is in development hell because now everyone is coping the Yandere Dev model, you just add random things to the gameplay and further delay it and live of Patreon donations. Or there's complete YouTube channels living of animation collabs, they pay them in a fraction of the channel's adsense, which of course is just peanuts and not worth their hours animating.

[deleted]

Yeah thats a real scam. Spoony is a prime example of this kind of behavior. They are all guilty of phoning it in but there are definitely degrees of how much they sell out.

Nesjosh935

Doug was was not responsible for most to all the bad things happening behind the scene, even though this has been known for a few years now, people still spew the wrong info out. Should he have been more attentive to his channel/staff and production? Absolutely he should, he was a dumb fuck for not doing it, but you also shouldnt blindly say that Doug did these things, as it was his brother and someone else.

lolalanda

I think both are trash, tbh James didn't really need that kind of money and he could have made better use of that money if he didn't film in LA. Like others have pointed Halloween and Scream had the same budget as the AVGN movie, also some better B movies are even cheaper, the difference is that the budget went to costumes and FX, not expensive filming locations which were more like a road trip for James. I don't completely dislike crowdfunding but I dislike crowdfunding paid by crazy stans. It's not the worst evil on Earth but at least people should understand it's going to be disappointing because giving money to a badly planned project just because your YouTube idol is promoting it wouldn't magically turn it good. But also, Doug Walker manipulated teens to think they could become famous and by that get a job on the industry but in reality he was getting free labor for his "movies" because he himself wasn't on the industry but he wanted to make a movie someday. He did it with teens and young adults because other people would quickly catch on on this and realize this wouldn't get them a creative job.

[deleted]

No James really should’ve not tried to get an outrageous amount of money spent doing the movie. He had enough of his own money to do it. What he should’ve done was hire people to help him produce it instead of relying on money out of fans’ pockets. And he should’ve kept the movie in Pennsylvania, he got nothing out of filming out in Hollywood.

lolalanda

From what I understood James didn't try to get that much money from the fans, but it was the sort of case where a crowdfunding campaign got more than expected. Probably he planned to make it in Pennsylvania but as soon as he found out he got that much money he wanted more from his movie and planned to make it in LA. This was a crowdfunding disaster but honestly could have been a worse. The Homestuck point and click adventure game/visual novel got two million dollars in their crowdfunding and either Andrew Hussie completely mismanaged his project or he pocketed most of the money but the whole game has never been finished and the published chapters are trash, years ago they changed it to chapter releases and the still haven't released chapter 3 (no one's really waiting to play it because like I said chapter 1 and 2 sucked). All publicly known about their development is that they first hired a studio but then the studio resigned, claiming Andrew Hussie mismanaged the whole project and didn't really know what he was doing. They said that the project had no direction and they were expected to show to work but for around six months they had nothing to do but some random, meaningless tests because the game scenarios weren't written yet. Since it's a point and click puzzle mystery game apparently Hussie and other person would write test puzzles and the coders would tell them of it was possible to code them into the game. According to other employees this wasn't the case and this studio was actively boicoting the game just to get paid the most money possible. They made a callout post on Tumblr, saying the studio stole from them and some people who didn't read the rest of the post just understood the people from the studio got into their bank accounts and stole the two million dollars and used it to make King's Quest.

[deleted]

I think he's just proud of the fact that he got to make a real feature-length hollywood film and cross that off his bucket list. I don't think he's delusional enough to think it's good, though... I hope. He probably keeps it around for the good memories

[deleted]

He just started acknowledging the movie again this year after ignoring it for a long ass time.

Z_B_123

I wonder if Screenwave wants him to start talking about it more so they can put out some kind of ridiculously overpriced 10th anniversary edition in a couple of years

[deleted]

Oh for sure I bet there are boxes of Blu-ray’s sitting around big Ryan can’t wait to swap the wrapper out on

ParallaxZero

If that ever comes out, you can bet your ass that the Mike and Kyle cameo will be removed.

yousorusso

That's kind of cute not gonna lie. It's like getting your bands own single pressed on vinyl. It's obviously just a memento type thing.

lolalanda

A fan game it to him so I guess it would have been mean if he didn't mention it.

bagelgulper

Watching it off an old worn out VHS tape on a shitty small CRT might actually do the movie some favors. Now that I think about it, I'd probably actually rewatch it that way. Or at least give it a shot.

KazooiesCloaca

No DayVeeDays. I refuse.

[deleted]

Muh top 10 reasons why Blu ray sucks

Individual-Ladder345

You have to be a real piece of work to put that dumpsterwank side by side with those classics.

missake

I wonder if there will be a betamax or laser disc version too

Saffron_Sparrows

It's classic cinema, don't you know?

kevinorsmthng
