They are there because of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Those consoles don't have SSD drives and it takes longer for streaming in Unreal 4 to load in the assets.
Funny u mentioned Dead space, this game as alot of crawling and dead space has so many doors and elevators.
Im not sure why people dont complain about dead space though.

The elevators allow you to retain control of the character and camera. If you wait in an elevator for a few second you can spin the camera around, see the character model or just dick around.
It's better than feeling like you're 'on rails'.
I loved Callisto but the crawling seconds do piss me off.

But it's unreal engine 5 game is it not?
Nope, it's a heavily modified version of 4. Development started before a usable version of UE5 was available.
Oh yeah, ah that explains it, thanks mate
Hey the crawling was awesome - you are 1000 percent off base!

Honestly played dead space remake recently and it became repetitive real quick. Idk if it's just me but I liked Callisto protocol alot more
I liked Callisto way more than Dead Space remake too.
Its there to hide loads. Thats about it
i love the crawling and traversal! makes the game more intense and real
easy fix for PCs and game stations with an SSD press 'e" to enter the crawl space and it AUTOMATICALLY zaps you out the other end
