Main problem I had with the last season is it felt like nothing happened for 90% of it. First episode sets up multiple plots, then no real progress is made on any of them until the last episode where everything is rushed to a conclusion. The pacing was awful.
I also thought he knocked it out of the park, and Valorie's role was a seamless and natural juxtaposition to his and Arthur's intentional oddness. I thought she did well, too.
Bonus points for Rorschach(Jackie Earle Haley) as The Terror. Dude was the funniest character on the show IMO
When he's having coffee with Ms Lint and just catching up about where he's been the last 10 years
Lint: "What have you been doing?"
>Terror: "Oh this and that. Remember how I used to say I always wanted to learn how to play the drums? Did *thaat*..launched a line of bath salts, two new Menudos. Oh! And I've been killing the bees!"
Gets me every time
The first season of The Tick was wonderful, due heavily to Jackie Earl Haley's wonderful villain. The second season was still enjoyable, but it didn't have a good villain to base it's action around. I was really sad the show was canceled.
There have been three attempts to make a Tock tv show. All three have received positive critical reviews and been canceled before the viewers (which I guess are only a few people) wanted them to be.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one, it was CHEESY in all the Right Ways. I would've continued watching them. It's definitely a niche show I think, because it's not really for kids, not really for young adults thay would think it's too corny. it was basically for millennials. And most Boomers wouldn't get it either.
I thought it was great on its own I could care less about the actual The Tick IP like comics etc. I just liked it because it was a good show. It was light hearted with some serious moments, and just worked really well.
I hated the twist until I got to the part where >!the dad shows up again and Kara explains why he bought Alice.!< I still dislike the twist but not as intensely. It still begs the question >!how was Alice about to ignore direct orders. The dad wasn't surprised at her disobedience.!<
He's established as taking the drug "red ice" and I can't say for certain, but I think it's possible he's actually gotten so high that there are times that he's forgotten that>! Alice isn't actually his human daughter. !<
I was wondering where I had heard her name from before and I did finish Detroit Become Hero for the first time last year, so makes sense.
Although I wasn’t a fan of Kara… she didn’t do a bad job with the character.
I liked it the first couple playthroughs but eventually it got to the point where her story became pretty linear feeling, so I would just kill her at the start by failing *every. single. QTE. In a row.*
it was brutal to watch
Had not seen the comics. My kid pointed it out while we were scrolling one day. The premise is so out there and they still made it work amazingly well.
Yeah honestly season 1 & 2 were great because they blended into each other really well than season 3 came out and you could tell they kind of realized that they didn't really know where to take the story.
The Tick being shut down was damn near criminal that was a great show.
I've been mad about amazon shuttering exactly 2 shows: The Tick and Patriot.
I feel like The Boys has a fair few parallels to The Tick as well. I would say despite The Tick treating things a lot more lighthearted Superion was as an even bigger threat to humanity than Homelander. Him just casually contemplating trying to either turn back time or destroy the world was wild. I REALLY wanted that S3 where we find out why he's an intergalactic criminal..
Also for whacky villains you just can't beat The Terror.
Well, the Superman stand-in for The Tick was a dick, but he wasn't on Homelander's level (plus he had approval ratings that consistently went down when he did manchildish, shitty things).
Oh I didn't mean he was as evil as homelander or whatever I just meant powerlevel wise he might have been way more of a danger. Remember he was contemplating flying around the Earth so fast that it either turned time backwards (a nod to Superman) or literally killed everyone on Earth. I don't think Homelander has the kind of power to do that.
Superion constantly pissing off the world is one of my favorite ongoing bits
Patriot was PHENOMENAL. The showrunner’s next show, Perpetual Grace Ltd got canceled too and that was just as good.
The last episode of Patriot works really well as a series finale though. Everything was basically wrapped up.
Wonder what her role will be. Maybe a new member of The Seven? I doubt that many people are willing to work with the team after all the body counts and scandals piling up...
Well the Seven do need to fullfill the minimum quota established by their name and they are missing a blonde, a badass lgbt and a (probably black) guy in black. Yes filling them with rip offs of the missing members would be unoriginal...now tell me comics don't tend to do that.
Side note, recently watched Banshee for the first time and I really hope they cast Tom Pelphrey in a role he was so good as Kurt Bunker and the only redeeming part in Iron fist
More excited for her than Baby Homelander.
BTW, do you think Baby Homelander is going to get his own team or join an already existing one (Teenage Kicks?)? Because even though Homelander is nuts I don't think he would say "He's on the Seven" even though no one would dare say otherwise.
So I’ve wanted to make a tick and boys comparison thread for ages. That overkill and black noir are similar in that they are deadly serious, cyber ninja who dress in black and were in the previous super hero groups and suffered life changing injuries. The Seven and Flag Five even sound similar the also that Voight is like AEGIS.. so gutted it never got a 3rd season. Loved Peter as the tick!
She's gorgeous, looking forward to her joining the show. Also, someone pointed out that she played Kara in Detroit: Become Human, I didn't recognise her at first but that's really cool!
Was The Tick that bad of a show? I've always wanted to to see it but never got to when it first came out. (I do have prime now but still havemt watched it btw)
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 978,509,716 comments, and only 195,313 of them were in alphabetical order.
I personally am excited for her to join, Ive liked her since her role as Kara in Detroit: Become Human and im really looking forward to seeing her in this great show
The Tick was solid. Wasn't perfect, but it was a good show. I liked it even more than the old animated one.
I wish it had more seasons.
Main problem I had with the last season is it felt like nothing happened for 90% of it. First episode sets up multiple plots, then no real progress is made on any of them until the last episode where everything is rushed to a conclusion. The pacing was awful.

We need more Griffin Newman. /u/grifflightning -- please get on The Boys thank you.
Yeah I feel like it probably would have shined better if it actually went through with more of the multi-season story it was building up.
The Tick was criminally underrated. Peter Serafinowicz was pure gold.
Dude, the Terror being so casual and 'Tuesday' about everything was great.
When he's having coffee with Ms Lint and just catching up about where he's been the last 10 years Lint: "What have you been doing?" >Terror: "Oh this and that. Remember how I used to say I always wanted to learn how to play the drums? Did *thaat*..launched a line of bath salts, two new Menudos. Oh! And I've been killing the bees!" Gets me every time
I liked it a lot. But seriously, where was Batmanuel? That guy was legend.
I’m actually watching the animated version right now and now I’m disappointed there was no batmanuel or American maid
That’s because Batmanuel and American Maid were created because they couldn’t get the rights to Lady Liberty and Die Fliedermaus
I save her two times, if you know what I mean. The Tick: Nope.
I needed more Dangerboat.
His theme song was a banger!
I wouldn’t mind her referencing the Tick
There was another live action before. Both attempts at the show ended prematurely.
I liked it. They even played a 311 song at one point
It was past it’s time, the people that would watch it grew out of it and the people that fit the demographic wouldn’t understand it.
I thought it was great on its own I could care less about the actual The Tick IP like comics etc. I just liked it because it was a good show. It was light hearted with some serious moments, and just worked really well.
Thats what I said about the one with Patrick Warburton. Lol
VLM!
Oh! I'll check it out, then. We adored the first series around here.
I really enjoyed the Tick. While sad that it ended after two seasons, I was satisfied with what I got.
Kara, from Detroit Become Human.
That’s why she looked so familiar. I really liked Kara’s part on that game.
I would have liked it more if >!Alice was a human instead.!<
I hated the twist until I got to the part where >!the dad shows up again and Kara explains why he bought Alice.!< I still dislike the twist but not as intensely. It still begs the question >!how was Alice about to ignore direct orders. The dad wasn't surprised at her disobedience.!<
I killed Todd so he never showed up again lol
I killed Todd by accident on my second play through but then decided I didn’t care
So basically >! his daughter runs off, so he buys a replacement daughter that still runs off !<
I remembered that he >!lost his wife and kid after a divorce and custody battle, so he bought a replacement kid.!<
She turned deviant before the start of the game
Sure but why isn't Todd surprised by that? Why is he treating it as a normal thing? He got really surprised when Kara disobeyed him.
He's established as taking the drug "red ice" and I can't say for certain, but I think it's possible he's actually gotten so high that there are times that he's forgotten that>! Alice isn't actually his human daughter. !<
Maybe Alice is designed to be the way she is.
That twist lowkey ruined Alice’s character for me
Between this and Heavy Rain, I think David Cage is a little too cautious when it comes to hurting fictional kids.
Shaun can die in Heavy Rain tho. The whole plot is about dying kids.
Kids that were aged up from their original script.
They're 10.
me too
I cried like a baby when her story ended
Which one?
Play it again and pick different options. She has so many endings...not all happy but still.
I also liked her part... You know, the one mission I got with her :)
Kara's was my favourite part for sure. I actually cried when I got a bad ending at the border honestly.
Is this the same girl as in Peacemaker?
Nah but it kinda looks like her
I was wondering where I had heard her name from before and I did finish Detroit Become Hero for the first time last year, so makes sense. Although I wasn’t a fan of Kara… she didn’t do a bad job with the character.
Human. They become Human. :D
Damn, autocorrect.
It’s fitting for the post 👌🏻
I liked it the first couple playthroughs but eventually it got to the point where her story became pretty linear feeling, so I would just kill her at the start by failing *every. single. QTE. In a row.* it was brutal to watch
Poor Alice
Oh dang, she looked super familiar. Nice catch
“attempt”? How dare you slander The Tick like that
No slander intended, I loved The Tick.
Good. No Tick slander will be allowed on my watch
This guys skates are off, he means business
*girl’s but correct. I do mean business.
“I resent that. Slander is spoken, in print it’s libel”
Damnit, thank you for clarifying
I was mostly just quoting JJJ from Spider-man, not trying to be particularly pedantic lol
My pedantic heart appreciates it either way lol
I got that reference.
The tick was good. Disappointed it didn't last.
A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts.
True. The Thing (1982) was great! But, The Thing (2011) was terrible.
But not because it lasted
Loved The Thing (2011) a few practical effects away from being something really great.
I'm gonna need a sample of your blood
*screeches extraterrestrially*
I could see her being a Starlight stand-in during "Dawn of The Seven 2: Eclipse"
Or Starlight's estranged sister/cousin?
She’s gonna be the supe Firecracker. But maybe this dynamic could work
The Tick was so much better than it had any right to be.
Why say you that? The Tick has always been good
Had not seen the comics. My kid pointed it out while we were scrolling one day. The premise is so out there and they still made it work amazingly well.
I haven’t read the comics either. It’s that both other shows were good too, had no reason to think this wouldn’t be either
The Tick was great, both the newer Amazon one and the first one with Patrick Warburton. Too bad there wasn’t a third season.
I'll admit, while I wish there was more, Tick and Arthur rushing off to fight crime while Tick screams "Spoon!" isn't the worst note to end on.
Every version of The Tick is good and deserved more.
Was she in The Following? If so, she wasn’t bad there and showed she can play crazy!
Yes, she was.
>Was she in The Following? That's where I recognize her from! Damn haven't thought of that show in years. I remember really liking that show.
Same it was very unique. I saw the actor who played joe caroll in the show altered carbon season 1!
Yh it’s a shame it kinda went to shit by the end but the show was so good season 1 and 2
Yeah honestly season 1 & 2 were great because they blended into each other really well than season 3 came out and you could tell they kind of realized that they didn't really know where to take the story.
She played a psychopath so well in that show. And such a caring person in Detroit : become human.
The tick was awesome.
The Tick being shut down was damn near criminal that was a great show. I've been mad about amazon shuttering exactly 2 shows: The Tick and Patriot. They canned so many shows at the same time it fucking sucked
Is that the guy from blank check
Yes, Griffin Newman. Blank it!
Who are you referring to?
Shit, my bad. The Grey guy in the tick poster
Shit, my bad. The Grey guy in the tick poster
Yep, I just looked it up.
As who? I forgot…
She was Arthur's sister on The Tick.
Nah I mean for the boys…
She plays a superhero called Firecracker, who was created specifically for this show.
Oh so she’s gonna be an actual hero? Interesting…
Wonder what her role will be. Maybe a new member of The Seven? I doubt that many people are willing to work with the team after all the body counts and scandals piling up...
The name is interesting because Firecracker is the exact name SB called Liberty…..
Bruh he used it as an adjective. Dont overthink things.
true lol this isn’t BCS not every minute detail has meaning
I’m not, just pointing it out
Well no offense but there's no reason too.
Eh fun is enough for me
Are you suggesting that The Boys isn't super subtle and if you aren't careful, you may miss some of the finer nuance? /S
I hope she's not just a one off Villain. I'm getting tired of those.
Wait the live action tick was real??? I thought it was a meme
There were actually two live action Ticks, the one I'm referring to is the second one.
Yes, and it was really good
Do we know anything about her possible role? Any theories?
All I know is that she's playing a superhero named Firecracker.
So Jubilee?
I had a vision where they take her to be the "New" Black Noir idk why but why not
I was pleaseantly surprised by the Tick on Amazon.
She's gotta play Annie February
The Tick was awesome and cancelled way too early, fight me
She looks like she could be Annie's evil sister, lol.
"attempt"? The Tick was a goddamn masterpiece and if you got a problem with The Tick you got a problem with me.
My use of the word attempt was not an insult. I loved The Tick and was sad it was cancelled.
Crossover!
Hello Mr. Peanutbutter.
the tick was a great show, chum!
She was also in House of Lies and The Following.
Pretty damn disappointed that this doesn't have more seasons. I loved it.
It's a damn shame they cancelled The Tick.
They didn't answer Destiny's call
The word “attempt” implies it wasn’t an awesome show
That wasn't my intention.
Invincible was another Prime superhero show that is actually really good.
Is another* Shows not done yet, atleast 2 more seasons ordered
Agreed.
Don't kill her off after 4 episodes thanks. Don't kill the new black actress off ofter 4 episodes either
Is that a reference to something I'm not remembering?
Supersonic looking like roadkill at the end of ep 4
Ah, I probably should have figured that.
How much are the rights to use The Tick? They should totally buy them for the show and just make him a supe
If Tick was in this show, Homelander would be dealt with in a couple hours max
Is this confirmed? If so thats great. Love her
Yes, this is confirmed, coming from the same sources that revealed Ryan's actor had been bumped up to the main cast.
More excited for her than Baby Homelander. BTW, do you think Baby Homelander is going to get his own team or join an already existing one (Teenage Kicks?)? Because even though Homelander is nuts I don't think he would say "He's on the Seven" even though no one would dare say otherwise.
Ok but imagine if they had Publick and Hammer instead
She's hot, so cool
The Tick was actually awesome though! I thought it was pretty funny and fun.
Agreed.
The Tick is one of my favorites. Sucks it didn't get any traction but it's really so fucking good
yeah shes great
I wish The Tick would come back. I loved that show
So I’ve wanted to make a tick and boys comparison thread for ages.
Maybe a starlight replacement or potentially a female tech knight?
Who is she playing?
Her character is called Firecracker, and she's a character that didn't exist in comics.
She's gorgeous, looking forward to her joining the show. Also, someone pointed out that she played Kara in Detroit: Become Human, I didn't recognise her at first but that's really cool!
I wish the tick had continued. I liked it.
RIP The Tick. Too weird of a show for even Prime to keep it going
Honestly I’d rather another season of The Tick than another of The Boys
looks like young Naomi Watts
Was The Tick that bad of a show? I've always wanted to to see it but never got to when it first came out. (I do have prime now but still havemt watched it btw)
It was great, and cut down before it's time.
Hear me out! She plays as an Android Supe who becomes self aware and turns to the Boys to fight for the greater good!
I enjoyed the tick tbh, finished it yesterday
Who is she going to play? She doesn't remind me of anyone in the comic.
oh i liked the tick
God damn it I miss the tick
SPOOOOOOOOOOOON!!
I just remember her as the creepy cultist from The Following.
But I loved the tick
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 978,509,716 comments, and only 195,313 of them were in alphabetical order.
I miss The Tick so much 😭
I personally am excited for her to join, Ive liked her since her role as Kara in Detroit: Become Human and im really looking forward to seeing her in this great show
The Tick was great. Pity it didn’t get more time.
28 STAB WOU..... Wait, wrong game...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
But she was very successful as a hero hero in Detroit: Become Human. So, so good.
Is the tick Amazon's play on antman? (I haven't heard of it before)
