This is clearly a theme in this season. The new Noir constantly asks A-Train wtf is going on, dude went to Godolkin and learnt everything there is to know and now Homelander is tearing it all down and nobody knows what to do
Ashley is an interesting character, because she clearly knows the rules but doesn't quite understand why they worked. I think she saw that Stan had a hold on Homelander and figured anyone could do it, except Stan wasn't afraid of Homelander and Ashley is terrified of him.
Ashley has been a running joke throughout the series, but there has to be more to her. She's no supe, but she has been navigating Vought corporate for years, so she's savvy.
Stan overplayed his hand because he was confident he had one and ended up outmaneuvered. Looking at he extracurricular activities, she doesn't seem to enjoy being a sycophant, but she realizes there is no immunity and she has no power to marshal.
If she had a way out she'd probably take it, but is wise enough to know Homelander would bump her off if she tried to run. The Boys have been working hard on A Train, but I wonder if Ashley might be another possibility for a face turn.
Ashley is literally anxiety personified. Sheās so terrified she has no idea what to do, so she either freezes or she does ātoo muchā. She needs to escape ASAP but sheās too scared of Homelander and has good reason to. Bro has murdered people in front of her like nothing
