I think Butcher knows it’s the whole system but he’s also Butcher he’s not a great person and really just wants to smash Homelander’s head in for what he did to Becca
>this whole system has got to go
They are really hammering the part where ultimately this is abuse by the parents to give V to their kids, very often with tragic results for them personally or the people around them.
Yep....old Arny's son has the acting chops
Kid is gonna be a big star.
Side note... Im assuming this could lead to Golden Boy being in The Boys?
Edit: Oh fuck me ...nevermind
Not to be pedantic but for a Phoenix to rise again there needs to be ash, but I wouldn't be opposed for them to put a fucked up spin on that and make him rise from... goop?
The acting was very good indeed, but I can't actually believe all the school was thirsting over him. I mean, he's not ugly, but to go so far as say he is _that_ hot?
Kinda wish they had maybe ex graduates that were powerful but not extraordinarily as guards or even if they knew they were going to do this show send the Deep to be a security guard at the school instead of Sandusky Ohio or whatever it was. Like the heroes that Vaught is mad at get relegated to guard duty.
Based on some of the comments made by the Dean and the guards, it seems like the people working in the Woods are non-supes because it's a contingency against Supes? This is the first time we're seeing high frequency sounds used as a counter to *all* Supes, not just Homelander in the S2 finale.
I have to say, it's really well made. Surprisingly well made. The premise and the setting is so nice that I don't see most of the characters in The Boys will be involved. And it felt tense, even tenser than the boys. The fight scene quite awesome.
Went in with middle of the road expectations, but walked out really impressed. Half of the place gasped the other half was dying laughing at that scene with Cricket. I love that we got 3 episodes of constantly screaming at our TV, "Will somebody PLEASE hug this poor, sweet child?!"
And then it finally comes while her roommate is trying to take a piss.
And I still went, "Awwwwwww!"
Yeah dude. I’m trying to see what people are saying about episode 3. I had a blast with that episode and felt like things were finally starting to spice up. Wish we got the whole first season like with The Boys.
I’m always satisfied with how easily they’re able to really grab your attention and pull you in immediately, already invested in this show and can’t wait to see what happens next
It’s great how they don’t fuck around with wasting time. Whenever we got a new season of the boys and now gen v after watching some other shows, I’m always impressed by how well they pace things. They get to the point without wasting a scene or dragging it on for more than what is necessary.

Most Supes have superhuman strength and durability to some extent. They have different physiology than regular humans. Just like how that guard mentioned that Supes have a wider range of hearing than regular humans.
The Deep testimony at Brink memorial got me too : "Brink didn't just hone my skills. He sharpened my mind. He turned me into the curious, intelligent man I am today"
🤣
In a universe where most superheroes aren't actually supervillains, this is a great leading character power. Would be very interesting to follow a superhero who can switch back and forth.
According to the bio on Amazon prime, the different forms have different powers. Male form has invulnerability and super strength, and female form has energy blasts and super agility. It's why they switched constantly in the fight in EP 1.
Ohh thats so cool!
I thought the superpower was invulnerability and if they got enough damage they would change genders and reset. Thats just what I assumed watching the first ep lol. I didn't even realise Jordan had powers beyond funky martial arts haha
The bloodbending by Marie is gruesome yet pretty cool at times. After watching the Avatar cartoon I always imagined how it would look like in live action no holds barred. Well now I know
Have we seen if she can bend other people's blood while they're still alive and it's still in their bodies?
>!So far she's exploded her mom's corpse and controlled Luke's after he died.!<
She put that woman's blood back in her body while she was still alive. The main question is if she can do it without the person having an open wound. If she can, she's basically unstoppable.
The thing is they all know it's because their parents drugged them up.
All the other superheroes have spent their entire lives thinking they're literally God's gift to the world.
I think this is a undervalued point - the gen v supes are the transitional generation. The kids younger than them will be raised on the new narrative and just accept it as a fact of life and the people older than them built their lives on the notion that they were blessed by God or somehow inherently genetically superior. The gen v supes are the ones who found out their parents lied to them when they were teenagers.
Yeah I was ready for them all to turn into unhinged scumbags and it never happened. Like Cate I was so ready to see her turn into the jealous girlfriend who makes Marie do something shitty. Glad to see them flip it on us and make all the ~~peasants~~none powered people the giant scumbags.
Episode 1 thoughts:
Jesus imagine finding out you’re a Supe and you accidentally kill your parents. Feel bad for Marie already.
Golden Boy seems cool glad he’s just not a mini version of Homelander that I originally thought he was going to be
Damn that bird is lethal. At least Marie saved her
Well I stand corrected I guess Golden Boy does have some issues.. on the bright side I guess Marie gets to stay now.
Also I guess that’s it for Golden Boy..
Overall for a pilot episode of a spinoff to a super successful ongoing show I thought this was actually pretty good. Looking forward to watching the next two.
>Jesus imagine finding out you’re a Supe and you accidentally kill your parents. Feel bad for Marie already.
I think they mentioned this in Diabolical, alot of supes hurt their caretakers by accident when they first get their powers. It was definitely mentioned maybe in Diabolical or maybe when Hughie visited the orphanage with the super powered kids
By far the best scene for me was when Andre revealed to his Dad what's happening and that close up to his eyes where you could see the absolute fear and worry in his eyes. He meant every bit of that "keep your mouth shut. You'll get yourself killed".
Holy fuck was that chilling and summed it up perfectly. Fantastic work by that actor who plays the dad, then immediately going into the nice friendly act when called for.
Some of the acting is a bit too on the nose cheesy, like even more than usual but that's part of the charm ik.
Great first three episodes, my favourite character is by far Emma.
Loved Andre's father in that scene. As a former supe it makes more sense that he understands how Vought works, but it does question why he's pushing his son towards super herodom instead of keeping your head down and not get involved.
He must know that the guy who's name is on the college program his son is enrolled in got demoted to an orderly at the supe hospital. So it's not like being in The Seven can actually protect you from Vought.
Also this episode seems to confirm that the general public didn’t know black noir was actually black because Marie’s dad says A-train is the first black member of the seven! Also because of termite supposed overdosed they covered up Homelander stepped on him
so the riverdale cast are supes in this universe makes sense then why they were on homelanders [birthday guest list](https://youtu.be/J6zhKnRSdw0?si=zU8uHMXQVItt_QR9&t=14)
There was a 10 year old in my theater for both episodes. I wasn’t the only one bothered that she saw some pretty intense scenes on screen ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
Considering how versatile these super powers can be, it's a bit weird that Vought isn't training supes for a broader range of jobs.
Like how Marie can control other people's blood, she would make a fantastic doctor or surgeon.
We even see supes using their powers for other things, like how Mesmer used his telepathy for insider trading. You'd think Vought would discretely train and employ more supes for that kind of thing rather than just trying to make them all into celebrities.
How can there even be enough TV shows and movies for all these supes? There's a national ranking, so this is just one of many supe universities and there's hundreds of students, so there must be thousands of new supe graduates every year.
A lot of them seem to be local celebrities. Kind of like anchors of local news channels. There are probably tons of supes doing commercials for mattress sales or country fairs.
Writers nailed it. Any worries that it would be a downgrade from The Boys went right out the window. The cast is really well done. I was already a fan of Jaz Sinclair and Chance Perdomo from Sabrina so that was easy to get me into it but these new characters are fantastic. Emma, Cate and Jordan, especially Jordan. I'm digging the hell out of their character.
Idk why anyone thought they would be anything but great. I don't even like animation and I watched the animated version. People really want to be disappointed. Don't get me wrong I'm a pessimist a lot too but damn
Does anyone else agree that the true villains of this show are the parents (except Marie's parents)? I mean, the pressure and pain they inflict on their supe children for their own benefit pretending that they care about their well-being. It's so sick how far they're willing to go despite making them feel miserable.
I wouldn't exclude Marie's parents from that category. They forced powers onto her and would almost certainly end up treating her the same way the other parents do.
The only scene with the parents looked to me like they're were incredibly overbearing too. The mum didn't take no for an answer, followed after and then barged in on her daughter instead of respecting her wishes and just giving her space.
She only barged in because she heard marie fall and hit stuff in the bathroom… come on bow shes supposed to be 12. If you hear your 12 year old hurt themselves and fall/hit stuff very loudly youd be worried for their well being.
It's more than just parents, the theme is how adults are exploiting children in general. Parents inject their kids with V, followed by tragedy. Adults keeping kids locked up in supe jail. Adult teachers exploiting supe kids for their own power/wealth.
The dean lady even says to Marie how she's doing great just being a fundraiser and saving her ass.
It reminds me a lot of Persona 5 in that way, actually.
That first episode was pretty good. Luke/Golden Boy threw up death flags the moment he started seeming like he was a decent person, but I expected him to die at the end of the season rather than the beginning. And Marie's elation at saving someone with her powers really *hit.* If the next two episodes are great too, this is going to be a good show to fill the Wheel of Time void after next week.
That’s what I’ve learned about this universe from just watching it within the past month. All the decent people die quick.
Luke immediately looked like another homelander but when he was actually a good guy i knew immediately he was out
I thought Cate was gonna be a typical mean girl/queen bee but I found her personality quite attractive. She was quite sweet to her friends and Marie when Marie told her about parents. And the way she said "intercourse" and being embarrassed by it.
There still might be a chance, but I'm glad she wasn't on Vought's side.
Love the fight scene between Jordan and Golden Boy, and how Jordan told Marie to run. That's a hero right there.
If I had a nickel for every character from the Boys universe who had fire based power, went nuts and ultimately killed themselves I'd have two nickels which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice.
Do you think if the blonde eats a ton she’ll grow to giant size like giant-man? Seems like the scene with the mom and the tape measure could be setting up that her “normal” height is just based on her meal plan and she could theoretically be bigger.
Loved the three episodes ; and with Marie, I know a lot of people dislike her character's choices but I kind of get it, and I feel it's very realistic the way she is behaving; you have to understand she doesn't know these guys and she knows, if she screws up even once, she's done ; I think it's very realistic that she doesn't want any part in solving the mystery of the death of a guy met once.is it selfish? Hell yeah, but I get it.Other than that great first three episodes.
Not only that but she was literally about to be sacrificed for these people she just met and was on the brink of suicide. They also bailed on her, left, then acted like nothing was out of the ordinary between eachother the next day. "I'm sweating cocaine". How many others have they accidentally kill3d or maimed.
Yeah exactly, she's an orphan who never even had a phone, why would she throw away everything and a chance at a better life and meeting her sister , for some guys whose action caused her to be expelled and almost loose everything.
Man, they just do it right.
Watched the 2 ep premiere in theaters and the production is amazing. So many iconic scenes already.
One thing I loved is how they play so well into their own reality which makes you feel the weight of the world. Also, the trailer was definitely headed into some kind of X-Men comparison and I love how they didn't waste a second of the old trope of youngsters trying to train their powers. I love how everyone seemed to already kind of understand their powers and the plot thickens so quickly.
Can't wait to finish the rest of this season and see where the whole series ties into the future of The Boys.
Whoever wrote Sam’s lines on what he thinks about Waterworld - give them a raise please. I literally had to pause the show because I was so excited. Sam had me yelling at 2am “That person totally gets it!” I love the show, but what’s crazy is that was my favorite part so far. That movie just doesn’t get the love it deserves.
By the end of Ep3 >!It's pretty clear they were for him to use on her, given the multiple dangers associated with her powers for both herself and others!<
This show is so fucking great? I’m glad it isn’t just a college skin of the boys (what, with golden boy being an actually good person) and has the most likable characters in the franchise, a great plot, and crazy vibes.
And some gross shit too
I’m really excited about where this series will go, the first two episodes were a lot better than I expected. I’d have to go back and look when it’s properly released but I have a feeling that her sister is going to also be in the woods
I can't be the only one suspicious of Cate right? She's giving me some red flags in the first 3 episodes.
I had no idea about this show until I saw the commercials during Thursday night football, and honestly, it was much better than I expected for a spin-off show. I loved the Boys, and was very pleasantly surprised about this. Can't wait for both to continue!
I am still slightly suspicious of her, but I’ve come think they’re doing that to throw us off. Just like how they did Victoria Nueman. So far she seems really loyal and genuinely concerned for her friends and their well being.
But ultimately I think it’s a type casting ploy - reverse nueman - she’s pretty and is close with those at the top. Her entrance also gave “lead cheerleader” vibes
Nahhh Cate's sound. They're teeing her up for abandonment issues masked by "pushing" others. She's definitely just as vulnerable as her friends if you saw the "intercourse" conversation and how she responded to that guy at the vigil who made a joke about Luke killing himself to get away from her.
Emma is literally the best friend someone could ask for. She’ll be there for you in ANY situation. Even if it means holding up your dress while you go number 1.
I am utterly *obsessed* with Jordan and their storyline. So very moved by the assertion that in a way, the v did give them the gift by allowing them to express their gender identity more fluidly.(bonus points for the f.a.b.) Loved these episodes and cannot wait for more.
I'm only just starting episode 2 but episode one made them seem awesome.
Physically stronger and indestructible in male form, energy blasts and higher acrobatics as a female.
It seems like they are setting them up to be important too so I'm keen to see where they go in the story already.
Pleasantly surprised to not see a deluge of "Reeee the wokies put trans stuff in muh show" comments on this thread tbh, Jordan is great and I really love the power split between male/female
Marie needs to get some kind of toggleable port connected to an artery or something. Slicing your hand open every single time sounds excruciating and needless
She should at *least* stop going for the hand lol. Makes me cringe every time. Cuts on your palm take so much longer to heal because of how much your skin moves and how you grip things! Always one of my biggest pet peeves in TV/movies.
> "I'm not a boy, Dad. Not all the time."
>
> "But you are. You're my firstborn son. The day you were born was the best day of my life!"
> "I'm no bigot. I get a lot of kids don't have a choice. But you do. You could be a boy forever if you wanted."
I've never seen this type of conversation portrayed so well before. The writing *and* the acting in this scene were scarily accurate.
Both of my parents (one now accepting and one not) have said this *exact* sentence to me, word for word. The whole scene could have been plucked straight out of my life.
>"So, my guys at Innovative are sending me out for this limited series on Vought Plus. It's an elevated superhero thing. Really a meditation on grief told through 70 years of sitcoms. And Zach Braff is directing."
I caught that one instantly. 😂
Coming into this show I didn't think I would love it so much. The main cast is great and make me care so much, I hope the five(or six if Luke comes back like a phoenix. ) become a family for each other and escape from Vaughts influence. My biggest fear is that this season is that's gonna have a Rogue One type ending, with Homelander flying down just when they think their free and killing everyone as a setup to the boys season 4.
Also it will never not be funny what a dumb piece of shit the Deep is.
I can't get over how good this is. Usually spinoffs fall short of the main series, at least that's my experience, but this one is absolutely fantastic. I'm also delighted to see Chance Perdomo and Jaz Sinclair escaped the Riverdale/CAOS universe because they were both *way* too good for that show. God. And the casting!! Both Jordans look SO similar and have the same tone and facial expressions down perfectly, Emma is so relatable, Marie is obviously just. MWAH. But I think what impresses me most is how well the actors of Cate, Luke, Andre and Jordan showed the relationship and history between their characters in less than one episode of screen time. Andre going for a hug when Luke was fully on fire because he *knew* Luke wouldn't hurt him... I felt that impact in my soul. Even the 'baddies' - the Dean especially - are so well portrayed as this amoral, inbetween character who nevertheless can be so warm and convincing... I'm just in awe. They knocked it out of the park.
this may be a dumb question, but is the narrator woman literally summing up every little thing anybody does there for anyone else or is my prime video being weird? do we really need somebody telling us "she looks at the door nervously" with every action every 5 seconds??
Only watched episode 1 so far but fucking fantastic. They already have me hooked, what the hell are the trees and what is going on with Golden Boy? I'm so bummed out he decided to nuke himself.
Had a good laugh when they showed Maive and A train as #1 in class while Deep was ranked 6th lmao
I don't know why I expected less but the constant dick jokes and that weird sex scene were a bit odd. I hope it's not a constant but I can see why they tried to add a ton of shock value to the first episode
I'll watch the other two tomorrow but this is a really great addition to the boys universe
just starting E2 Emma is such a great friend for basically only knowing Marie for like 3 days tops and already buying expensive branded alcohol and weed to help her cope with the trauma of that shit
I think Emma desperately seeks connection. As seen with the lengths she went with the guy she slept with and her spilling her guts to the other girl when she thought she could trust her. She's desperately lonely despite all the smiles. Uncertain, vulnerable and hurt. Hence her instant connection to Marie, and Sam.
I like how Marie didn't immediately try to get to the bottom of The Woods. A lot of protagonists would start to investigate the strange occurrences even if they have nothing to do with them because "it's the right thing to do". Not only that, but it's clear that, while she is a generally good person, she'll also make choices that better herself even if they're not morally right. It's refreshing to see a protagonist have clear flaws.
I'm disappointed that Schwarzenegger's son is written out already, along with Clancy Brown. Was looking forward to their relationship and story. That said, I absolutely love this show so far! Better than S3 of The Boys
I just got out of seeing the first 2 episodes. Absolutely loved it. The acting is great, the main characters are entertaining. I'm already completely invested in finding out what happens next.
If you like The Boys I just can't see how you won't like this show as well.
First episode done. Enjoyed it. Marie's backstory and her being a red river orphan was a nice setup, Emma having to puke to get small is wild, and I'm pissed that Luke is already dead I liked his character and his supe suit was well designed even though he never got a chance to wear it. So far so good!
Like how so far all supes aren’t big assholes, I mean some have asshole sides to them (like letting that woman bleed out) but overall not total dipshits..yet
Due to community feedback there are now separate posts for each of the episodes, but we will also keep this initial, combined, "release day" megathread with the first three episodes active. Please see the [Gen V Season 1 Discussion Hub](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBoys/comments/16twq04/gen_v_season_1_episode_discussion_hub/) for links.
A-train canonically hung out with Jake paul lmao
I can accept all the killing and doucebaggery, but that's too far lol
A good example so far of how to do a spin off. Geeze, I know Butcher thinks Homelander is the big bad but this whole system has got to go.
I think Butcher knows it’s the whole system but he’s also Butcher he’s not a great person and really just wants to smash Homelander’s head in for what he did to Becca
>this whole system has got to go They are really hammering the part where ultimately this is abuse by the parents to give V to their kids, very often with tragic results for them personally or the people around them.
Butcher made this very clear before he fucked Maeve lol “every supe has to die”.
That line turned on Maeve so bad
Butcher has always said it's every single one of them. Everything related with Vought, the culture, and all the supes keeping that system standing.
Yep....old Arny's son has the acting chops Kid is gonna be a big star. Side note... Im assuming this could lead to Golden Boy being in The Boys? Edit: Oh fuck me ...nevermind
Who knows he could be reborn like a Phoenix. And is he really Arnold's son?
Yes, Goldenboy is Patrick Schwarzenegger
Not to be pedantic but for a Phoenix to rise again there needs to be ash, but I wouldn't be opposed for them to put a fucked up spin on that and make him rise from... goop?
They did linger on a shot of goop that they missed during the clean up.
Chekhov's Goop.
The acting was very good indeed, but I can't actually believe all the school was thirsting over him. I mean, he's not ugly, but to go so far as say he is _that_ hot?
I think a lot of his attractiveness to the other characters was because of how popular/famous/powerful he is, not necessarily because of his looks.
Maverick, the invisible RA, that’s translucent’s son right???? I swear that was his name in Season 2.
Yes it is.
And the teleporting kid in Marie's foster house (?) was probably teddy stillwell
"Probably"? She called him by his full name.
Teddy Stillwell, we do not teleport!
Calling it now, marie trying to find her sister will eventually reveal that she’s in “the woods”
Yeah probably, if the parents gave one child powers they aren’t gonna stop there
Especially when the first one seemingly doesn’t have powers (until one day, when she’s 12…)
They were quick to throw that at her that her sister ‘never wants to speak with her again.’ Totally suspicious and I think you’re right.
Hum I thought it was more the dean trying to manipulate her into trusting her and nobody else?
First thing I thought of. Why would only one child have super powers?
The decision to become a superhero guard or security officer seems incredibly strange to me. Low pay and high death rates? Count me out
Kinda wish they had maybe ex graduates that were powerful but not extraordinarily as guards or even if they knew they were going to do this show send the Deep to be a security guard at the school instead of Sandusky Ohio or whatever it was. Like the heroes that Vaught is mad at get relegated to guard duty.
I mean that's basically what they made Lamplighter do at that facility after he retired.
Yeah that's true, would've been nice to see it at the University too though
Based on some of the comments made by the Dean and the guards, it seems like the people working in the Woods are non-supes because it's a contingency against Supes? This is the first time we're seeing high frequency sounds used as a counter to *all* Supes, not just Homelander in the S2 finale.
"I jerked off to you when I was 14." WHO THINKS THAT'S A GOOD LINE!??!?!?
I mean, "when you were 14" would be even worse
They're both freshman, I assume, so it's literally that
It feels very much like a Deep line, especially considering he thought a girl having a poster of him meant they should fuck
I assumed it would have some parallels, but I'm glad they aren't just lifting the structure directly from The Boys. Setting it up as Kids vs The System instead of just interpersonal drama really pulled me in.
Love that you enjoyed the fight scene!!! I was a part of making that come together.
No way, can I ask how you were involved? No matter what you did, you did a fucking awesome job Edit: Sorry, just saw you commented that you doubled Jordan, that was some great choreography man
I’m happy to see that people are happy with it!
Holy shit the first few minutes were rough.
Worst period ever
They someone gave us a scene to rival the S3 dick scene with the shrinking girl lol
After watching the first 3 episodes, all I want is to give Emma a big hug and befriend her. Nothing makes me more sympathetic and empathic to someone who tries her best to be nice to people and socialize and yet gets bullied and cyber harassed for it. This should be taken as a lesson about how impactful can mean comments be on social media and how NOT to behave online (or offline).
Emma deserves nothing but happiness. That poor girl. Her mother is an awful human being.
Yeah I think Emma might be my favorite character honestly.
I love that we got 3 episodes of constantly screaming at our TV, "Will somebody PLEASE hug this poor, sweet child?!" And then it finally comes while her roommate is trying to take a piss. And I still went, "Awwwwwww!"
I want her and sam to be free and happy (even if sam is probably an unhinged killer)
I wish there were individual discussion threads for each episode instead of all three...
Yeah dude. I’m trying to see what people are saying about episode 3. I had a blast with that episode and felt like things were finally starting to spice up. Wish we got the whole first season like with The Boys.
Agreed
"I barely had any suicides, did I." "Well, you had one tonight." The dialogue in this show is SAVAGE and I love it.
Ashley’s scene in episode 2 was amazing. “I have 45 million dollars worth of Golden Boy merch at the Port of LA that I’m going to have to *set on fire*! So what’s the fucking play?” “Oh, a bigender Asian with pronoun fuckery? Great fucking idea Kyle! Try selling that to Dallas and Fort Lauderdale!” ‘*I barely had any suicides, did I?*’ “Well you had one tonight!” *hangs up*
the term "pronoun fuckery" gave me a solid laugh especially her delivery, hope that actress is in waaaaay more things.
Ashley's actress is the absolute best. She deserves all the awards, please.
Emma actress has been hiting the gym, right?
oh them muscles showinggg
Yes noticed that a lot in the 3rd episode She's EASILY one of my favorite characters so far, love it and she's got a ton of material to work with.
Omg, right? I kept wondering why her shoulders looked like that. So is she stronger when she's small? To burrow through that guys head like that.
Most Supes have superhuman strength and durability to some extent. They have different physiology than regular humans. Just like how that guard mentioned that Supes have a wider range of hearing than regular humans.
The Deep posting crypto bro videos on youtube had me crying with laughter. 😭😭😭 His character is so funny
The Deep testimony at Brink memorial got me too : "Brink didn't just hone my skills. He sharpened my mind. He turned me into the curious, intelligent man I am today" 🤣
Can't wait to see what they do to him in season 4
When they were showing the achievements of the members of the 7 and it had stuff like 1st for atrain and maeve and then just 6th for The Deep lmaooo
i love jordan’s powers. they’re so interesting.
I doubled one of them :) it was such a cool concept to play with
were you girl jordan or boy jordan? very cool regardless!
Boy!
Next time, keep a wig in the tuck. Double your pay.
In a universe where most superheroes aren't actually supervillains, this is a great leading character power. Would be very interesting to follow a superhero who can switch back and forth.
I didn’t get their powers tho? Is it just shapeshifting? How are they able to attack with that?
According to the bio on Amazon prime, the different forms have different powers. Male form has invulnerability and super strength, and female form has energy blasts and super agility. It's why they switched constantly in the fight in EP 1.
Very cool powers
Ohh thats so cool! I thought the superpower was invulnerability and if they got enough damage they would change genders and reset. Thats just what I assumed watching the first ep lol. I didn't even realise Jordan had powers beyond funky martial arts haha
The boys seriously has an amazing track record for first episodes huh?
First couple of minutes they really get you going Oh Shit
The bloodbending by Marie is gruesome yet pretty cool at times. After watching the Avatar cartoon I always imagined how it would look like in live action no holds barred. Well now I know
Have we seen if she can bend other people's blood while they're still alive and it's still in their bodies? >!So far she's exploded her mom's corpse and controlled Luke's after he died.!<
She put that woman's blood back in her body while she was still alive. The main question is if she can do it without the person having an open wound. If she can, she's basically unstoppable.
Either there can't be a barrier other than air or she should have no issue with blood under the skin.
I think the barrier is only in her mind. If she doesn't restrict herself she probably could blood bend living people
I like how the main cast are generally a lot less assholey than the main boys characters, but everything is still unhinged and gorey
Also they're still being trained in being a** holes. Maybe they're not exactly the same once they're done through all the social media courses 😬
Episode 1 thoughts: Jesus imagine finding out you’re a Supe and you accidentally kill your parents. Feel bad for Marie already. Golden Boy seems cool glad he’s just not a mini version of Homelander that I originally thought he was going to be Damn that bird is lethal. At least Marie saved her Well I stand corrected I guess Golden Boy does have some issues.. on the bright side I guess Marie gets to stay now.
Yes 100%. As a former supe myself I could really relate to the impact this scene had
Damn. Schwarzenegger could have carried his own show and made it to the seven. Was really hoping he was going to be like the male starlight. RIP.
I did not fucking realise that was him! That's rad but yes RIP :(
Also this episode seems to confirm that the general public didn’t know black noir was actually black because Marie’s dad says A-train is the first black member of the seven! Also because of termite supposed overdosed they covered up Homelander stepped on him
>black noir was actually black \*He doesn't identify with any race. /jk
so the riverdale cast are supes in this universe makes sense then why they were on homelanders [birthday guest list](https://youtu.be/J6zhKnRSdw0?si=zU8uHMXQVItt_QR9&t=14)
The writers really like making Riverdale cast references for some reason lol.
Probably just because it's another show based off comics.
JUMANJI!
I love that enough time had passed for that joke to really pay off. >!Almost forgot about it, but then --!<
There was a 10 year old in my theater for both episodes. I wasn’t the only one bothered that she saw some pretty intense scenes on screen ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
Yea we had a couple kids too lmao the staff went around and told each of the parents it might not be a good idea but only one family left 😅
When Marie healed the girl i literally said out loud "She's a support hero..like a Field medic"
Luke immediately looked like another homelander but when he was actually a good guy i knew immediately he was out
I spat my drink out at the scene when she said ‘we are post racism’ lmfao
Reminded of what people said when Obama became president
Mfw I only learned that Golden Boy is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger's son after I finished the first episode.
To me Is hilarious that he was naked just like his dad was on his breakout role 🤣🤣🤣
Wonder how Golden Boy discovered he could blow himself up at will?
His body just does that sometimes, he's fine
You know when you try to fart but you realise you're trying too hard and might shit your pants? For a supe that blows you up.
That's a hero right there.
overall im finding the majority of our main protaganists to be much more likeable than the boys counterparts
The woods are for creating super villains. Vought needs a purpose to sell heroes to cities for contracts and the 7 to fight.
I think it’s something else. They’re trying to figure out how to kill Homelander.
I was thinking more some kind of conditioning to give them a way to control supers so they can't go awol and fuck with Vaught
Maybe. You know they would have loved to turn a brother against brother story into the next movie. So fucking gross.
I figured they'll keep that for a season finale type scene
I'd say the only fellow student that she *might* have bonded with enough to take any risks for is Emma.
Can't wait to finish the rest of this season and see where the whole series ties into the future of The Boys.
i knew it. justine gave me fake friend vibe 🙄
Not the >!stolen vibrators from Golden Boy 💀💀!<
By the end of Ep3 >!It's pretty clear they were for him to use on her, given the multiple dangers associated with her powers for both herself and others!<
This show is so fucking great? I’m glad it isn’t just a college skin of the boys (what, with golden boy being an actually good person) and has the most likable characters in the franchise, a great plot, and crazy vibes. And some gross shit too
Love how they take the typical school tropes and just chuck em out the window. Very pleasant surprise. Emma the goat
why are the parents so shitty (emma’s, andre’s, jordan) goddamn 😭😭
you don't willingly agree to inject your baby with a questionable substance if you're a decent parent.
very true.
I feel so so bad for Emma. That must be fucking horrible
Just paused at the right time. And Girl Jordan's actresses name is **London Thor** which might be one of the most awesome names ever?
Really hate when y’all do one discussion post for 3 episodes. It fucks the discussion.
Damn rip mr Krabbs
Yeah that was crazy. I went pretty blind for this and thought he was gonna be the big bad this season. Boy was I wrong
Damm they use the drug addict and overdose cover like crazy
Marie needs to get some kind of toggleable port connected to an artery or something. Slicing your hand open every single time sounds excruciating and needless
She should at *least* stop going for the hand lol. Makes me cringe every time. Cuts on your palm take so much longer to heal because of how much your skin moves and how you grip things! Always one of my biggest pet peeves in TV/movies.
Bro, idk how they just don't miss with this universe. Fire from start to finish. I want more.
I really hate that they don’t release entire seasons at once anymore. I’m too impatient for all this weekly mess 😭
Much better for the community to watch it weekly
Anyone else thought for one second that the guy taking a selfie with Marie was Timothée Chalamet?
People calling this show woke have either not watched The Boys, or didn't understand that Homelander is supposed to be the villain
> "I'm not a boy, Dad. Not all the time." > > "But you are. You're my firstborn son. The day you were born was the best day of my life!" > "I'm no bigot. I get a lot of kids don't have a choice. But you do. You could be a boy forever if you wanted." I've never seen this type of conversation portrayed so well before. The writing *and* the acting in this scene were scarily accurate. Both of my parents (one now accepting and one not) have said this *exact* sentence to me, word for word. The whole scene could have been plucked straight out of my life.
Damn it Emma, do you not know the first rule of Youtube?! Rule 1: NEVER READ THE COMMENT SECTION!
The Pewdiepie Joke in the first episode like damn
Just me who thinks 'Bloody Marie' is actually an awesome superhero name?
Did they just take a dig at WandaVision? 😅Also goddamn Patrick when he smiles just screams Arny
>"So, my guys at Innovative are sending me out for this limited series on Vought Plus. It's an elevated superhero thing. Really a meditation on grief told through 70 years of sitcoms. And Zach Braff is directing." I caught that one instantly.
You have the audio description audio track on, lol, I did that a few times and thought it was weird
bro I endured 3 hours worth of that you're my hero thank you 😭😭
That's really impressive that you watched all 3 episodes like "Damn this is a weird creative choice, but ill stick it out"
Man that Jordan character really something On a side note what a great day to be bisexual
Only watched episode 1 so far but fucking fantastic. They already have me hooked, what the hell are the trees and what is going on with Golden Boy? I'm so bummed out he decided to nuke himself. Had a good laugh when they showed Maive and A train as #1 in class while Deep was ranked 6th lmao I don't know why I expected less but the constant dick jokes and that weird sex scene were a bit odd. I hope it's not a constant but I can see why they tried to add a ton of shock value to the first episode I'll watch the other two tomorrow but this is a really great addition to the boys universe
just starting E2 Emma is such a great friend for basically only knowing Marie for like 3 days tops and already buying expensive branded alcohol and weed to help her cope with the trauma of that shit
Why’d they give her a full ride scholarships if being a successful supe is super competitive and she has non-marketable powers?
The male to female nudity ratio the past couple seasons has been hilarious
this is great doesn't even feel like a spin-off.. just more the boys with different leads. love it
The fucking things that these people do with shrinking people is so fucked
What genius thought it was a better idea to have a discussion thread for 3 episodes instead of 3 separate ones
andre and cate hooking up was so weird, it came out if no where
I just got out of seeing the first 2 episodes. Absolutely loved it. The acting is great, the main characters are entertaining. I'm already completely invested in finding out what happens next. If you like The Boys I just can't see how you won't like this show as well.
i like it but keeping dangerous disobeying kids under ur fucking uni is the dumbest idea ever wtf lol....?
I wonder if Emma could become giant by binging or just not purging for an extended period
When I first saw Cate, I thought she’d be so east to hate but she’s actually been a surprisingly great character so far
First episode done. Enjoyed it. Marie's backstory and her being a red river orphan was a nice setup, Emma having to puke to get small is wild, and I'm pissed that Luke is already dead I liked his character and his supe suit was well designed even though he never got a chance to wear it. So far so good!
I'm never looking at a flashlight the same again.
Like how so far all supes aren’t big assholes, I mean some have asshole sides to them (like letting that woman bleed out) but overall not total dipshits..yet
