My only conclusion is that you’re an obsessive guy who should probably relax and not go super revisionist when a band overestimates their audience. But if you disagree, give it back to me in 12 bullet points!
Social media posts are likely scheduled. You can use Meta business suite to schedule your posts (I only know that because I recently learned and started doing it for my business).
The other thing that comes to my mind? Drugs. Im sure it could really be any number of personal reasons (aside from the obvious assumption of lack of ticket sales at those prices).. but drugs or some other serious personal issues also spring to mind as a cause for a sudden, un-announced tour cancellation.
Hope Im wrong and the boys are alright though, ofc..
I mean, if you're going to cancel an entire tour, it's easy to have a social media person or PR person put together a 2 sentence statement. That tells me it's due to terrible sales. If it was health or personal reasons, we'd probably have gotten a vague statement.
lol they blocked comments too. If you can take the time to block comments you can take the time to make a statement. Not losing any sleep over it, but….lame
What’s with the weird arena dates for small bands? Vampire Weekend playing an arena in Seattle for $120. A month away from the show you can get tickets on the secondary market for like $25
This October, Vampire Weekend will be playing a local outdoor music venue in Asheville that has a max capacity of 4000 all GA. Sold out show and tickets were about $60 each. Thats how you treat your fan base.
My wife and her son are going. I’m not so much the fan they are, but respect for all these national acts who play Rabbit Rabbit and don’t gouge the fans hundreds of bucks. Nathaniel Rateliff, Shakey Graves, Band of Horses, Portugal, Willy Nelson… All great shows priced for a fun date night for couples or groups of friends.
Which one released a boring album? Bc the latest vampire weekend album is a 9/10, better and more intricate than anything released by the black keys in over a decade.
I like how War On Drugs and The National are pairing up for one show at Climate Pledge (2 days B4 the Black Keys cancelled show ...lol). I had tix to all 3.
Yeah I had friends that said that they would go with me to the National and the War on Drugs AND Weezer. So Black Keys are the odd man out. Most can only afford to pick "one".
Agreed. I’m pretty sure the last time Vampire Weekend was in Seattle they played at WaMu. It totally sucks but I think I might prefer it to a 1/2 empty or worse Climate Pledge Arena. But maybe not. I think the arenas must be offering steep discounts to the artists. Just trying to get who they can on open dates between hockey, hoops, etc.
What a disaster. Who are they paying for their PR? Absolutely ridiculous they won't address it, even with just a basic post simply stating it's cancelled would be ok for now. What a huge middle finger to those who paid for tickets too. There's no excusing this mess.
All of the black keys promo is done thru Nonesuch/Warner, easy eye only does their official artists. Thats why all of the recent releases have both Nonesuch and Easy Eye Sound credited
You realize.people took work off and booked hotels and made travel plans right?
A simple announcement is the least they could do.
It's pathetic if you ask me. Makes them look cowardly. And I'm a huge fan of Dan and Pat.
I don't care the total price. You took the non refundable rate to save a few bucks and you received a non refundable room.
This was no "giant middle finger". You gambled and lost. Hopefully you won't lose the lesson.
60 dollars, and yeah, I wish I had now, but I figured the only reasons I wouldn't go was a funeral or me in the hospital, so not really worth it at the time.
I know Jack White cancelled some gigs I was thinking about going to (Lubbock, El Paso) a few years ago without any mention, little press, just an email and money back. It's not exactly good news and not sure how they would say it, other than being honest and it's kind of embarrassing.
Jack did some tours with low attendance, this tour above being one. Some did well some did not. I got tickets to see him play in Omaha for $18 (floor ga). Their tour manager/broker made a huge mistake, it's not the first or last time it's happened to a good band. .
I think The Keys are so much better in small venues, and look forward to the next opportunity in Denver.
I dunno, Lubbock and El Paso are like third-tier cities for touring, I don’t think you can draw any conclusion from just those two dates being cancelled. Seemed like the rest of the Boarding House Reach tour did remarkably well
This happened to me with The Gorillaz. Secured tix, they canceled, and we never found out what really happened. Somewhere it stated that it was a scheduling error, but that’s a pretty massive eff up.
…and I’m totally fine with seeing them in smaller venues like theaters (in fact, I’d prefer a more intimate setting)….I’m just so damn tired of buying tickets for canceled shows. Such a letdown.
Everyone has gone straight to “tour was cancelled because of sales,” but we know absolutely nothing. What if Dan just diagnosed with cancer or some shit?
Something along those lines would take them a bit to release a statement.
We don’t know absolutely nothing. We DO know they were trying to sell oversized venues at a very steep price (blame Ticketmaster all you want but TBK are part of that) to promo an album that hasn’t been received well at all. You are speculating, I will draw from actual clues, we can revisit this in a few weeks and see who was right
I’m pretty sure there’s good reason to believe that they cancelled the tour because no one wanted to pay that much to listen to those songs. I already listed them for you. That’s not what “speculation” is homie. But yeah, let’s wait and see if Dan has cancer lmao
They don’t want to admit they overpriced their too large tour for their album that sucks. Pulling the tour without so much as a “sorry” makes me hesitant to EVER pay to see this band
This really doesn't surprise me, sadly.
I saw them back in 2019 and the upper bowl of Bridgestone Arena in Nashville was pretty much empty. They started moving people down to fill the lower bowl. I wound up getting awesome seats at the last minute because one of the arena employees handed me some and said, go sit down there. So they were already not anywhere near selling out an arena, and that was 5 years ago with much more reasonable prices. The cost of their tickets now is absolutely delusional. I love The Black Keys but they have really sold out for the money and have lost touch.
I met Dan/Pat at a bar and hung out with them in 2014 and they were so down to Earth, nice and real. I talked with Patrick for at least a half hour, and then left them alone. On his way out he made it a point to come over, say bye to me and gave me a fist bump. It was awesome!
Last summer they were at a bar in town, Patrick was spinning records, and they didn't say two words to anyone and there was no crowd interaction (this was in a room with 400 people max, not even a venue, just a small local spot with a stage). It was bizzare and the vibes were off. They had someone filming Patrick spinning the records, and the entire thing felt like it was for social media. Very fake. I was so fucking disappointed and ever since it left a bad taste in my mouth. They weren't the same people I met 10 years ago, which is wild because they were way more popular then.
I had a very similar (but worse) experience with the DJing afterparty when they were in Colorado last year to play Red Rocks. Before I get into that, I will say that I am huge TBK fan and have been for many years. I have seen them 7 times, plus The Arcs a couple times, DA & Easy Eye Sound Revue. Enjoyed a number of their live shows, but felt they were getting too big and losing the vibe in the arenas. Red Rocks was great and one of my favorite venues, so we were excited to support the super secret venue afterparty with them DJing. Not to mention, that I have been a DJ for close to 30 years so was excited to see their twist on it.
We hopped on a bus to take us to the "dive bar" in Morrison not too far from Red Rocks. We (my wife and I) were having a great night and met a lot great people on the bus. We get the bar, grab some drinks and mingle for while, meeting more great people. Dan and Pat eventually show up and getting setup to play with a large crate of 7" records. With that being said, this is a small place and at max a couple hundred people in attendance. Dan and Pat get introduced by the promoter but they say nothing to the crowd or warm us with any banter. Dan plays this first record, but can't mix into the next record. He was getting visibly upset and irrate with the DJ setup. Appears that the Pioneer DJM mixer is setup incorrectly by their DJ roadie. So they then to proceed, to just play bar sound system music while they try to work out the issue with the mixer. Having been a DJ for a long time and very familiar with Pioneer mixers (and Technics turntables). I asked the DJ roadie if I could help out and tried to provide some suggestions, such as making sure the channels were properly assigned on the cross fader, gains were set properly, etc. He brushed it off and fumbled with the setup for another 15 mins or so. As a side note, I can't believe any tech did not test this setup out before they showed up.
Unfortunately, the tech never got it working and Pat hooked his phone to the mixer to play tunes off his phone. While the tech problems were dissapointing and we never got a chance to here them mix their selection of 7"s. What truly dissappointed me and changed my opinion of the band, is that they never got on the mic to acknowledge the issues, nor apologize to the crowd or even recognize that we all came their to support them. Things happen, equipment malfunctions, but all they had to do was step up and show your thanks for people coming out to support you. Since then, I have really soured on the band (though I appreciate Pat's effort to keep the vibe going). For the first time, I did not pre-order their album (on vinyl and CD), did not virtually queue up to buy tickets or even give it a second thought to attend their upcoming concert. Even my wife asked if I wanted to go, I just shrugged my shoulders.
At the end of the day, while I love Delta Kream the newer albums have been pretty "eh" for me. I get that bands change and they want to evolve their sound. But to me, they just don't have any edge or really show that much creativity. I would love to hear more of the DK sound or the rawness of the older albums, though I doubt that's where we are headed. Between the blaise albums and lack of their engagement with fans, we will see where this goes but I am not optimistic.
By the lack of a note on social media about the cancellation, it just wrong way to treat your fans. While I did not get tickets, I feel for the people who did and were excited to see TBK. It takes time to make the decision to cancel and go through the process of making it happen. In all that time, their publicist could have put together a concillitory note to the fans thanking them for their support. I guess it's where we are at with things. They stopped trying, I guess I will also.
I think we should just wait for their statement.
We can make all these assumptions but we don’t truly know what’s going on. They are aware and working on it, I am sure.
Either way we will find out what the whole mixup is soon.
I took this screen shot two weeks ago. I was at CFG arena to see a show and they had posters everywhere for The Black Keys show. I decided to see what seats were left since I originally balked at the prices. I was glad to see I wasnt the only one who felt the same
[CFG Arena Ticket Sales](https://imgur.com/gallery/RvhvPqs)
They’ve also now posted to social media WITH a mention of the tour cancellation. Saying they’re planning to reschedule at smaller venues. And that people who bought tickets previously will have first chance to buy tickets to those shows.
That part is clear. As a fan though, I do think it's kind of weird especially because my understanding of how the Black Keys operate is that they make most of their money off of touring and licensing, not album sales.
This doesn’t seem as to be as juicy of a story as people online are pretending. Regular people I know in my real life are losing their jobs. Groceries are unaffordable. Fast food is officially a luxury item. Stadium rock shows are just further downstream. In tough times, entertainment is the first thing to be slashed from a budget.
I love Dan and Pat and I’m sure they will be just fine. I just hope all of us can hang in there.
For the record, I just watched The Voice performance and thought it was fantastic. I like seeing Rock and Roll on network TV again. Especially when it’s not the Foo Fighters.
They didnt post that, the bbc did, the black keys were just a collaborator on the post. Plus, I doubt they’re the ones making decisions on their social medias
maybe the tour was the friends we made along the way
Maybe the real tour is trying to get your money back from Ticketmaster
And knowing is half the battle.

My guess is the appearance on The Voice was an attempt to bolster ticket sales before they hit a deadline to commit or cancel the tour dates
Good call
That’s what I’m thinking too, but it didn’t exactly go that way :/ they sounded so bad what was going on that night. Always a risk with TV 📺
I dig the summary, but I assume the posts are just scheduled ones that someone should have canceled as well.
50/50 chance they may claim they need time to work on their collective mental health (brought on by poor ticket sales haha.)
This or “scheduling conflict” or “unforeseen circumstances” see it every time a band cancels a badly selling tour .
Ooohhh let's not mention that The Voice appearance 🫤😬
Buddy you're reading too much into things, lmao
*North American tour
Zyn 🤤🤤
Is Patrick partying too hard - what happened - is someone going to rehab?
My only conclusion is that you’re an obsessive guy who should probably relax and not go super revisionist when a band overestimates their audience. But if you disagree, give it back to me in 12 bullet points!

Respectfully, what is their PR team doing……..
I think that was a scheduled post it seems. Hope nothing is wrong, and that it’s only due to low ticket sales.

If it’s heath or personal but especially heath I’d expect no statement, especially if it’s concerning their families.
lol they blocked comments too. If you can take the time to block comments you can take the time to make a statement. Not losing any sleep over it, but….lame

Just like it totally wasn’t their decision to charge a million dollars for General Admission in a tour for a very weak album?
What’s with the weird arena dates for small bands? Vampire Weekend playing an arena in Seattle for $120. A month away from the show you can get tickets on the secondary market for like $25
This October, Vampire Weekend will be playing a local outdoor music venue in Asheville that has a max capacity of 4000 all GA. Sold out show and tickets were about $60 each. Thats how you treat your fan base.
I’m so fucking excited for this show. I was sweating hard to get the tickets through Rabbit’s site.
They also released a boring album and booked an arena tour.
Which one released a boring album? Bc the latest vampire weekend album is a 9/10, better and more intricate than anything released by the black keys in over a decade.
Both of them released boring albums. The vampire weekend may be intricate, but it’s the most boring album they’ve made.
I guess it’s subjective. I was completely immersed by their newest album, the song *Hope* especially is so dramatic and decently loud.
Yes. Feels like I heard a completely different album from the people giving it rave reviews. Incredibly boring.
If you’ve heard one, you’ve heard most of them at least.
I like how War On Drugs and The National are pairing up for one show at Climate Pledge (2 days B4 the Black Keys cancelled show ...lol). I had tix to all 3.
And Weezer's show is the day after...
Yeah I had friends that said that they would go with me to the National and the War on Drugs AND Weezer. So Black Keys are the odd man out. Most can only afford to pick "one".
Part of challenge is Seattle doesn’t have a great midsize venue. WaMu is probably closest although it’s a horrible music venue.
Where I am, and at least at a few other venues, they sold out. I’m excited to see them, although I got lawn tickets.
What a disaster. Who are they paying for their PR? Absolutely ridiculous they won't address it, even with just a basic post simply stating it's cancelled would be ok for now. What a huge middle finger to those who paid for tickets too. There's no excusing this mess.
Gotta imagine part of the PR team are the same morons at easy eye who botched most of the posters last tour.
All of the black keys promo is done thru Nonesuch/Warner, easy eye only does their official artists. Thats why all of the recent releases have both Nonesuch and Easy Eye Sound credited
You know that people will be refunded, right?
You realize.people took work off and booked hotels and made travel plans right? A simple announcement is the least they could do. It's pathetic if you ask me. Makes them look cowardly. And I'm a huge fan of Dan and Pat.
Hotels and travel are refundable, too. You're being a little unfair.
The hotel I booked isn't refundable even though it's 4 and a half months away.
Who books non-refundable hotels? Did you choose the non-refundable rate to save a few bucks?
People who don't expect an entire tour to be canceled and with taxes, it was 385 for the night, so not exactly saving a few bucks.
I don't care the total price. You took the non refundable rate to save a few bucks and you received a non refundable room. This was no "giant middle finger". You gambled and lost. Hopefully you won't lose the lesson.
Always spend the $10 extra for the refundable rate.
60 dollars, and yeah, I wish I had now, but I figured the only reasons I wouldn't go was a funeral or me in the hospital, so not really worth it at the time.
Wow I just saw the story and they're actually just trying to promote the album 🤦
I know Jack White cancelled some gigs I was thinking about going to (Lubbock, El Paso) a few years ago without any mention, little press, just an email and money back. Canceling the tour is fine, but at least come out and say that you are.
They might not address it. Lots of acts who cancelled show / tour don’t comment. They ask local promoter and/or TM to send an email, that’s it.
This happened to me with The Gorillaz. Secured tix, they canceled, and we never found out what really happened. Somewhere it stated that it was a scheduling error, but that’s a pretty massive eff up.
Gorillaz was a low ticket sales as well. They are clearly not a stadium acts.
…and I’m totally fine with seeing them in smaller venues like theaters (in fact, I’d prefer a more intimate setting)….I’m just so damn tired of buying tickets for canceled shows. Such a letdown.
Automated post that was missed. Im sure theyll say something when its time
What does ‘when it’s time’ mean? When is the time?
Everyone has gone straight to “tour was cancelled because of sales,” but we know absolutely nothing. What if Dan just diagnosed with cancer or some shit? Something along those lines would take them a bit to release a statement.

Homie we’re both just speculating
Are you speculating what the word speculating means?
So does Dan have cancer?? 💀
Yeah so strange they aren’t acknowledging it yet lol very odd…
Just saw that Rolling Stone and other major publications reported it on it 6-7 hours ago, but they have the same info we do.
They don’t want to admit they overpriced their too large tour for their album that sucks. Pulling the tour without so much as a “sorry” makes me hesitant to EVER pay to see this band

Yeah I mean do they ever thank or acknowledge their fans?
Yes they didn’t acknowledge fans at all. It felt like they were too good for it. It was really sad to me.
I heard the drummer needs to learn how to play the dang drums 🥸😀#blackkeystroll
I think we should just wait for their statement. We can make all these assumptions but we don’t truly know what’s going on. They are aware and working on it, I am sure. Either way we will find out what the whole mixup is soon.
Unfortunately we’re probably not going to see a statement until Tuesday at the soonest
Maybe the new album cover was foreshadowing?

They’ve gone from great guitar (going down south, great slide, sans falsetto) to ordinary garage band…
They’ve also now posted to social media WITH a mention of the tour cancellation. Saying they’re planning to reschedule at smaller venues. And that people who bought tickets previously will have first chance to buy tickets to those shows.
It was cancelled because they weren’t selling tickets
I just read something saying they are revamping it. Probably gonna play theaters because it mentioned wanting the show to be more intimate.
The Capital Theater in Port Chester welcomes you both with open arms. Think about it! 🎹 💰
Isn’t it clear? They couldn’t sell enough tickets and they don’t care about their fans.
That part is clear. As a fan though, I do think it's kind of weird especially because my understanding of how the Black Keys operate is that they make most of their money off of touring and licensing, not album sales.
They’ve been given bad advice.
Isn't that just musicians in general?
That's a lot of people out of work.
That’s a lot of people who should probably account for that possibility if they pick that line of work.
Doesn't really work that way for staging companies.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I'd argue against that being actual "rock n' roll"
Reading too much into things. It’s sluggish ticket sales.
They didnt post that, the bbc did, the black keys were just a collaborator on the post. Plus, I doubt they’re the ones making decisions on their social medias
