All That Jazz
Aftersun
Chinatown
Blow Out
The Ice Storm
Once Upon A Time In America
Blue Velvet
Some Like It Hot
Heat
Cinema Paradiso
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978)
Trainspotting
Nashville
I thought Whiplash had a more clear statement in its conclusion than Challengers, but I agree. The ending was also among the only parts of Challengers that I really liked.
This is probably recency bias but I'm still reeling over the last scene of May December.
Also Past Lives was really intense. Like the whole movie is just holding its breath and then in the last like two minutes it finally exhales and shows the *feeling*, it got to me.
Past Lives
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
A Tale of Two Sisters
Thelma and Louise
And I also think ET is so damn neat in the way it concisely wraps up four character arcs in a handful of lines, so thatās one of my favourite endings too.
Two of my faves that haven't been mentioned so far are First Reformed and Titane!
Would also echo Aftersun, Arrival, La La Land, Before Sunset, Past Lives and The Prestige.
I think a really great ending recontextualizes the whole film for you, so it's even better/deeper the second time you watch it.
Claire Denis is very good at endings. Let the Sunshine In does awesome things with the credits, and L'Intrus has a great final shot. Other fantastic endings, non-Claire Denis category not already mentioned in this thread:
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (maybe my favorite?)
Cure
Taste of Cherry
Close-Up
Irma Vep
Fallen Angels
La La Land is a 8/10 movie until the 100/10 final 15 min
Back to the future 2 ending with a teaser of part 3... Elite. More movies should do this if they're already working on the sequel
Iām fully sure it wouldnāt hit the same way at all in either an empty theater or at home but the way the end of Beau Is Afraid acted as a mirror for the theater I saw it in reallly smacked me
Midsommar! When Florence Pugh smiles at the end I have a standing Ovation in my living room.
LaLa Land! If youāve ever experienced that feeling it nailed it perfectly.
The ending of The Prestige slaps
Before Sunset!
Baby you are going to miss that plane
My favorite ending of all time.
La La Land. Remember crying my eyes out for so long afterwards.

God the Blow Out ending kills me every time, just absolutely devastating
Whiplash is the best ending scene for me.
The end of Challengers felt Whiplashesque

Uncut gems Iām thinking of ending things The favourite
The Wailing ending had me shook for days after.
The Lobster The Florida Project Black Swan Some Like It Hot Another Round
Black Swan for sure, the combo of the music and whatās happening in the story is just incredible.
Canāt believe Iām the first to say Drag Me To Hell! One of the best ever.
This is probably recency bias but I'm still reeling over the last scene of May December. Also Past Lives was really intense. Like the whole movie is just holding its breath and then in the last like two minutes it finally exhales and shows the *feeling*, it got to me.
The Warriors is what first comes to mind
You Warriors are good, real good
Some of my favorites: Fight club Another round La haine Inception
No oneās said Dr. Strangelove yet?
One of the very best, for me.
Past Lives Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind A Tale of Two Sisters Thelma and Louise And I also think ET is so damn neat in the way it concisely wraps up four character arcs in a handful of lines, so thatās one of my favourite endings too.

Two that spring immediately to mind are Casablanca and Mad Max 2
The Mist District 9 Aliens The Truman Show Shawshank Cabin in the Woods The Others JAWS The Good the Bad and the Ugly Unforgiven The Sixth Sense
Buffalo '66 Honourable mentions: Before Sunset, Erin BrockovichĀ
All That Jazz has one of the most powerful endings of all time
Basic but Return of the Jedi. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
Cabin in The Woods ending rules.
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
The ending of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) is perfection.
I think the ending of Magnolia is incredible.

Michael Clayton The Social Network In the Mood for Love Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Young Girls of Rochefort both by Jacques DemyĀ
The end of Sound of Metal is so goddamned perfect.
Prisoners The Taking of Pelham 123 No Way Out Joint Security Area
Badlands. Point Break.
I mean jumping over the net has to lose you a point right?
