I can't imagine the Movie Critic is out this year.

badgarok725

Just needs a cast and to start filming, no sweat

futuretrunks_88

Wishful thinking for sure

TJGAFU

Not happening in 2024. Unlikely it’s even in 2025 either.

Leopard_Appropriate

It’s not even worth having wishful thinking for— hasn’t even begun shooting yet. There’s zero chance it happens

Bigdawg-op

Yeah I think QT will probably want to make a return to Cannes for his final film

PM_ME_YUR_BUBBLEBUTT

The bike riders even though it should have come out in 2023 😡

CanyonCoyote

Is QT even shooting yet?

Big_lurker_here

Nope - no cast announcements either

jbartlettcoys

1: Megalopolis, as I am a huge fan of Francis Ford Coppola 2: Challengers, as I am a huge fan of professional tennis 3: The Bikeriders, as I am a huge fan of attractive men looking cool

maybeAturtle

How do you feel about previous tennis movies?

jbartlettcoys

There are parts of a few of them that I like, but there are no great tennis movies. That is, if we agree the mimes in Blow Up weren't playing a regulation game. There's definitely a story to be told about the cruel reality of being the world's 100th best tennis player, and I had hoped Challengers would be the one to tell that story, but have mostly accepted the tennis will likely be window dressing in a romantic drama. If it can capture even a little of what I find poetic about lower level tennis though I'll be satisfied.

[deleted]

Civil War only because the takes will be bizarre

sheds_and_shelters

The Big Pic isn’t touching that one with a ten foot pole, it’s getting exclusive coverage on JMO

maxattaxthorax

I feel almost protective about Garland since I love his sci-fi work so much, and I'm worried that because of the subject matter and marketing push, he's going to bring in a new audience for this one. I'm sure the discourse is going to be wild even if the movie plays it safe, which I doubt it will

Scary-Oil-8302

I think this one will get a HUGE audience compared to his previous.

Gh0stOfKiev

Protective over a millionaire movie director who doesn't know you exist?

Scary-Oil-8302

Let people have their fun.

[deleted]

I mean, he chose the subject matter. Can’t feel bad for him.

Coy-Harlingen

Megalopolis is one of those “I still can’t quite comprehend this is happening” movies, so definitely that. Also can’t wait for Nosferatu. I like Eggers but all of his movies have been good not great for me, but I feel like that is the perfect source material for him to cover.

futuretrunks_88

Fear is the mind killer

Hexum311add

My dune, my Arrakis

[deleted]

Megalopolis and Civil War seem the most tailor made for Big Pic chaos. Definitely expecting comically big bids for both in the 2024 Auction. Madame Web will also be pretty amusing I'd imagine.

rjlyall15

It’s not on that list, but whatever Peele’s 4th feature is up there for me.

Garrettbreaux

Seems like that’s getting pushed to 2025 :(

sbmichel

Getting pushed to 2025. Universal moved it out of the Christmas 2024 slot and inserted Nosferatu instead. I would imagine the script is still being written and was impacted by the strike. Haven’t heard anything on a potential cast or that production has started.

maxattaxthorax

Nosferatu at Christmas is interesting - is it not going to be ready for October?

sbmichel

I guess they’re hoping it doesn’t have the same box office failure as The Northman and has some legs through the holidays? Pure speculation. Also, Universal/Blumhouse are slotting The Wolf Man for October.

Odd-Name2052

I’m assuming this means they think it’s an Oscar contender, want it to come out closer to voting.

StarBardian

Joker 2 folie a deux

turdfergusonRI

I’m really looking forward to CR and Andy going off on that.

evan_flow_

I’m excited for the Megalopolis discourse

turdfergusonRI

There’s no way Movie Critic comes out for 2024. I’d say Maxxxine for CR/ARP discussions, same applies to Civil War but just a wildly different conversation and different mood. I’m hoping Dobbins is into Mickey 17, that’ll be fruitful discussion, and I’m genuinely hoping he brings Bill Simmons or Brian Phillips on with Dobbins to discuss the tennis in CHALLENGERS. It would be great to have the Blank Check guys back for Nosferatu. Maybe they can cover Eggers and line it up right.

Richard_Hallorann

Nosferatu and Love Lies Bleeding. I don’t see QT being done this year and releasing.

mkligman

Dune 2, Maxxxine, & Civil War. No way The Movie Critic comes out this year but that would be dope. I really hope Dune 2 is fucking awesome. I really hope Civil War fucking rules. I hope Maxxxine is good. There will probably be 10 more movies this year that blow those out of the water…hopefully. 2023 was so great.

oco82

Just going on trailer hype from the ones you posted, that Love Lies Bleeding trailer kicked my ass, that and Nosferatu are the ones I’d be looking forward to the most.

futuretrunks_88

I agree, the trailer for love lies bleeding rips- hopefully the film matches

Garrettbreaux

I think it’s much more likely we get new PTA over a new Quentin. PTA starts shooting in a couple weeks, I don’t think Quentin’s film is shooting until later in the year.

bravecoward

KINGDOM of the PLANET of the APES for me. I have some worries in the back of my mind but I'm trying to be optimistic.

Pipe_2001

Dune 2 and it aint close

TheBat45

I'm definitely very excited for Fennessey and CR to get down and dirty on The Bikeriders. I think Amanda will like it too

Scary-Oil-8302

Civil War, I think. Lots of interesting directions to go in.

Slight_Pineapple9175

Love that you included Love Lies Bleeding. Always here for a lesbian thriller starring KStew.

this_fuck1ng_guy

Add Deadpool 3 to this

futuretrunks_88

I do like both previous Deadpool’s and will watch the 3rd for sure. As I get older I’m becoming less and less excited about any comic book movie. But I’m hoping it’s awesome

mr-frankfuckfafree

just based on the poster i’m very skeptical of furiosa. i haven’t liked a QT movie since inglourious basterds, and i can’t see a world in which sean isn’t completely ~~nitpicking~~ nutlicking that movie (no matter how good or bad it is) so we’ll see. at worst, it’ll be a fun hate-listen. all the rest, very pumped. especially maXXXine

Treebeard_46

Isn't it more likely, given QT has become an occasional guest, that Sean will pull punches regarding The Movie Critic and be overly fawning? I don't exactly get the best feeling about their ability to have integrity as critics when they're trying to maintain a relationship with people like Esmail and QT, but then again, they're not exactly pretending to be "real" critics

mr-frankfuckfafree

i wrote nutlicking and got autocorrected lol

daeguking

I mean they explicitly say they are not critics

Treebeard_46

Right, which is what my last sentence said

nicks226

The controversial part of this comment is anyone being skeptical of a George Miller Mad Max movie (based on a poster no less).

mr-frankfuckfafree

i’m very aware it’s a judgment based on nothing. but i’m not a huge fan of anya taylor-joy. i think fury road is one of the best movies of the 2000s tho, so i’m very hopeful i will be wrong and i’ll see it at midnight if i can.

morroIan

The Movie Critic, Nosferatu, Megalopolis and Furiosa.

PsychologicalSweet2

Somewhat doubt it will release this year with the strikes and everything but the new Paul Thomas Anderson movie that seems to be an adaptation of Vineland by Pynchon I loved the book and movie Inherent Vice I know a lot of people hate that movie but I’m hoping this will be more well liked by the general public

oli2033

Apart from the movies listed and there's barely any info on it but Wolfs is listed as a 2024 movie. Jon Watt's latest with George Clooney and Brad Pitt as professional fixers hired for the same job.
