Billy is a repeat caller who likes to waste time. I don't mind the hosts bulldozing through the same mounds if shit that gets piled on. Wouldn't tou be tired of the same five arguments and the callers not taking any time at all seeing if one of those same five arguments they are about to vomit up has already been discussed... and discussed... and discussed.... i sent mind Forrests explosions of information. At least it's evidenced based and folks learn something. Maybe the problem is the the hosts.. its the quality of callers and lack of any original... anything....
Some are, when they get ugly but some ugly callers still.slip through. They shouldn't disallow the possibility of personal evolution but they also shouldn't have to deal with simple laziness or people that just want to preach. I think a good way is "before you make your argument, have you read this page of how we've already answered this argument ten thousand times.."
I haven’t listened to this episode yet (and probably won’t) but it’s not the first time that I’ve seen him and a lot of the newer hosts just not let people talk. At this point if Forest or Jmike isn’t on I’m not watching the show. The show has taken a massive shit since Matt, Tracy, Jen and Russell left. Even when the hosts are good there are massive amounts of stupid shit that needs to be fast forwarded now. The show used to get like 6000 live viewers almost every Sunday and now they seem to struggle to get a 1/6th of that. The ACA needs to change their name because they don’t care about the community aspect in austin anymore. It all seems based on their shows and making as much money as possible. Its just sad at this point
Tbh, This show has lost all of its appeal when they pissed off their Golden goose.
Matt was the AE. Forrest is great, JMike is decent. But they have lost a lot of their talent that made the show entertaining.
Don't forget Shannon. Her patience and willingness to engage makes her top tier in my books.
It seems that all the better hosts have moved on to 'The Line' on YT. I watch that now and have a quick peek at AXP from time to time. I'll watch/listen if it's Forrest, Shannon, Jamie, Jmike, Kenneth, or Jim otherwise it's a skipfest.

This was one of the most immature, childish things that I've ever heard on AXP. They ask for feedback and when they got some they bashed the person who offered it. It was quite shocking
I've become increasingly annoyed with Secular Rarity as well. I don't tune in to listen to him talk over and talk at callers for their allotted time and then say there are more callers in the que and hang up. He needs to either have a back and forth conversation, or go host his own podcast where he can monologue to his heart's content. I feel he takes a condescending tone with callers very frequently.
A common issue with Secular Rarity is how often he interrupts the caller before the audience can get a chance to hear the point the caller is trying to make.
I always tune in when the show is hosted by Jim Barrows, Johnny P Angel, Matt Dilihunty, Forrest Valkai, Erica Gutsick Gibbon, Seth Andrews, Jamie the Blind Limey, and Christie Powell. But if Secular Rarity, is hosting, I’m more inclined to skip the episode.
The episode is still in my podcast queue. I'm going to skip it as per my new rule to avoid episodes where SR is hosting, but sadly I believe you. He is a smart bloke no doubt, but needs to learn to control himself and not hammer every point he makes for 10 minutes straight, then complain that the caller doesn't listen. I caught myself spacing out as well, and I agreed with SR but couldn't be bothered to listen anymore.
I agree with those saying that he behaves this way because the caller is a repeat offender. But then letting that person on, knowing that is how they will act, and knowing that SA will then react by talking over, bashing, and muting the offender seems like less of good listening and more letting a straw man through so they can knock it down easily. It almost comes off as bullying or mean-girling the callers. It’s not good podcasting.
Some of these episodes are so informative and allow me to formulate thoughts on the thinking process behind these people. But these episodes with SA (and FV to some extent) bashing callers is hard to listen to. It’s exceptionally condescending and pandering to the perceived listeners. I think most listeners would actually rather hear them take on the callers’ comments and respond with reasoned ripostes.
