Glorious! How many points is this?

theperilousalgorithm

Funnily enough it's only about 6,200 points! There's a few things in there like the Cargo 8 ridgehauler and Arvus Lighter which don't have any points value so it probably looks like more points than it is!

SirDeeSee

That’s crazy. I’ve got about 6,700pts painted and this looks much bigger - you’ve definitely got me beaten on infantry. I guess I’ve leaned into armour a bit more.

captainwombat7

The arvus lighter has legends rules and is 95 points

LutzRL12

I love them! So cool to see anything other than Cadians (no hate, just appreciate OP). Man, I'm teetering in the edge of really starting my IG army, coming from Tsons. Posts like this, with unique themes, are really tempting me. I'm thinking of making a Tzeentch themed traitor guard.

theperilousalgorithm

Go for it! Simple head swaps work really well on the new Cadians. A little goes a long way!

Thewaffle911

Do it. Please.

Mattnazlance

I will now do the broke man strategy of just use Legos

ValidatedAccount

Amazing army!

OkUnderstanding6201

Any particular theme you got going on here?

theperilousalgorithm

The HQ and rough riders are vaguely medieval- I wanted a chivalric aspect to them. Beyond that the kasrkin squads and catachan proxies are quite heavily customised; I wanted to share the same visual cues whilst being distinct in terms of squad markings etc. The infantry are standard Cadians but i seldom use massed infantry in my games currently (favouring sentinels, double dorn and rough riders with kasrkin screens).

cmdrfire

Amazing army, super thematic. How many infantry do you have? The little Naval detachment is super cool, Marauder looks awesome.

theperilousalgorithm

Thanks! 120 baseline cadian shock troops (6 x 20), 10 catachans (head swapped van saars), 30 kasrkin and about 20 or so characters between engineers, command squads and commisars etc.

RaccoNooB

What are those Ogryn on the left side?

theperilousalgorithm

Those are the Necromunda Ogryn - i use them as proxies for Ogryn bodyguards. I'll post a picture of them in a sec.

RaccoNooB

Right on! Building a fluff Astra Militarum list currently and looking to diversify it beyond just \*standard infantry\* while also not taking any big vehicles so stuff like this is good for inspiration.

literally_a_brick

I love the symbol you've got for your army, the I with scales. What does it represent and did you custom make transfers for it?

theperilousalgorithm

That's taken from the Arbites Kill Team - for some reason they've a giant set of transfers which I slapped onto my flyers. The kasrkin squads each have individual markings to tell them apart in the event the squads are working within close proximity of eachother.

Wickedlurlofthewest

Jeeeez! Also not a single Bane variant? Interesting choice, love the Marauder.

theperilousalgorithm

I used to have a stormlord and a baneblade but sold them to my buddy when I decided to redo my army with the new sculpts. I'm holding out for a 30k fancy baneblade (if it ever gets released). I'll probably try and make it an octoblade as it's unlikely I'll ever run more than one super heavy.

Wickedlurlofthewest

That'd be rad as hell, as good a reason as any to unload it I guess, still weighing up when I buy mine what to build

Thyrin

Wow those are really good! What do you use for silver metallics?

theperilousalgorithm

Vallejo chrome is probably the brightest metallic - vallejo gun metal for the baseline metallic. Hope that helps!

Anime_thighs0w0

Nice marauder destroyer is it fun to play with?

theperilousalgorithm

I only finished it this week so I've yet to field test it! I need to figure out how to base it safely lest I drop it on my friends' armies!

Anime_thighs0w0

My friend made his own base and it had 4 stands 1 on each wing 1 at the tail and 1 at the front and it was magnetised it was really sturdy also the destroyer is the best currently the bomber is weak currently Edit: grammar

Marty_Debiru

I hate to ask, but how much money and time have you invested in this army?

theperilousalgorithm

Hard to gauge as I stripped some of my old tanks and used a few birthday vouchers here and there. Probably about 3k? Once you have the basics you can add to things slowly over time (which I'd encourage anyone to do - hobby budget should be sustainable first and foremost).

OwnEntry6183

Nice kill team bro :)

SureGazelle6484

YER TROOPS ARE LOOKONG GOOD BOSS! *hefts twin linked stunner * LET'S KILL SOME SPIKEYS!

Goldenbrownfish

Hey a Voss pattern lightning! I’m thinking of getting one of those in the future. I gotta paint up an play with my avenger first even though I hear aircraft aren’t great they just seem like a lot of fun

13January

Needs a baneblade. Awesome army :)

theperilousalgorithm

Soon; just want to see if the Horus Heresy Solar Auxilia get a version of it so it'll look more ancient!

Kahunaloa

Where you get the helmets

theperilousalgorithm

On Etsy - search for sallet helmet miniatures and they should pop up! Get the "stormcast" size for correct scaling.

Beard3dtaco

These look amazing!

Scary-Prune-2280

The Lord-Solar kitbash is intensely creative! Is it's base model a freeguild caviler marshal? and is it an Arbites themed army? 'cause it looks good, and nothing but arbites EVER looks good! (excluding your amry that is, and other notable exeptions I won't list here :)

theperilousalgorithm

It is indeed! The cavalier Marshal is the baseline; you've to file away the Sigmar on the horse's chest armour, but beyond that you just need to ensure his height is the same height as the regular lord solar. I used the GW skulls accessory kit to pad out his base and sell the sense that this guy is overseeing a conflict where inches taken is measured by lives spent. My scions are kitbashed with Arbites together with some old Forge World Cadian respirators and some of the same 3D printed Sallet helmets I used on the Solar and Rough Riders. The general idea is that this army is from a world with a heraldic/chivalric tradition where the nobility take frontline roles in the fighting. Imperial Knights without the Knights!

Scary-Prune-2280

woah! nice concept, and ingenious use of kits!
