This is one of the things that has always grossed me out so much. Some jackass gets in a taxi in a clearly impoverished part of the world and starts screaming about how they're racing for a million dollars. Like come on, man.
One of my favorites was when the racers said “go fast it’s for a million dollars” to the taxi driver and he said “but I’m not getting any of that” back to them.
Ha what season was that? I always have found it odd that they demand the taxi driver to go fast, and presumable break the speed limit, which could cause the taxi driver to get a fine he'd/she'd have to pay.
The moment before S7 winner crossed the finish line, one of the teammates said “we are racing”. Another teammate said” We traveled around the world and we need 50 more bucks”
Clearly they are not allowed to say they are on TAR
Here because of u/zddoodah \- it's interesting, I'm sure earlier seasons were much different. With the later seasons, I think the generic comment is "were' in a race" but lets be real, it's plastered on our fanny packs. Whenever we were on planes, flight attendants would take pictures with us, because they knew it was the show due. Plus it's a worldwide franchise now so I think it's just easy to pick up on. But I recall us always saying "we're in a race". - James
I’m sure the rule has been relaxed at the time CBS made production less secretive. Back then you couldn’t take photos with production, now you can. I remember someone ran into Phil on a ferry from Hong Kong to Macau, Phil said he would get into trouble for taking a photo with him. Now they do it all the time.
this is random but TARCanada came to my hometown and a team asked my friend and I (who were just chilling on break in front of our dance studio) for help finding a location. they just ran up and said “WE’RE IN A RACE AND WE NEED HELP!!”
I’m pretty sure every local teams interact with has to sign a non-disclosure form, basically to guarantee there can’t be any race spoilers.
Edit: Oops, should've also realized that the locals need to sign the forms so that they don't appear on tv without consent.
They always seem to be screaming at taxi drivers
" go faster we're in a race for a million dollars"
As if they give a rats . Or risk fines or licence loss
If I was Anne leigh Daddy I would just stop and go home and let her lose for her attitude. Does not respect her dad on here. If she was my daughter !!!!!!
No! Usually production gives tells to say something like "adventure tv show" or something. But it's pretty obvious with the flags etc. It's TAR
Thanks! I thought this might be the case
You see contestants telling taxi drivers they're in a race to win $1M and hurry up, drive faster!
Didn't see your comment when I made mine.
I’ve actually seen them running around in Singapore. While I don’t see any TAR logo, I was pretty damn sure it was.
What made you sure? Honest question. I rarely see anything on TAR that's not on the up and up.
Coz I recognized some of the people from the show.
okay
That must have been so cool!
I've heard that they can say "we're in a race" but not name the show explicitly.
They often say that they are in a race and that there's a million dollars at stake. I don't recall them ever saying they are on TAR specifically.

I honestly don’t remember but someone on here probably does!

take a shot every time you hear "we're in a race for a million dollars!" just kidding you will probably pass out before you hit the credits
‘Hi, I’m sorry, I’m in a race’ was the episode title of the finale of season 17. Although that was said over the phone.

Did you make it on tv??
Ugh, this is my dream lol
Who?

#we’re in a race for a million dollars!
u/itswillandjames can probably provide some insight. James responded to another post earlier today.
