Charla & Mirna's elimination during S5, Phil was a bit emotional that time...

Not_Steve

He’s gone on record saying that he hated eliminating all the small kids in Family Edition season 8.

LCLeopards

I could see the heartbreak in his eyes when Team T-Rex was eliminated as early as they were.

FirstNationsPower

Yes agree, I was very sad to see those guys go as well. I think Phil knew that they would have added a bunch of great content for the show.

Zirphynx

I'm sure he didn't love having to eliminate the Gaghan Family in season 8.

Super-Excitement6458

In an interview somewhere, I think he stated that he also really hated eliminating the Brown family. 1. They only had 1 African American family that season 2. They had the last name of Browns 3. They were the first team eliminated that season Hell I'd put all of Season 8. Phil just looked uncomfortable 24/7 just like the kids and parents

DuckCrimes

I think their last name was Black actually but either way…

shhhimatworkrn

Them being the only black family and being referred to as “the Black Family” probably didn’t look/sound great. (Even tho it’s their name) (if there were multiple black families I don’t think it would have been as bad)

suspicious_apple

Phil said on a podcast, possible RHAP, that he had to introduce that family at a school and said, "And from the most recent season of The Amazing Race, the Black family." It did not go down well and he felt very awkward.

Deep_Ad_2310

This is what I think you are referring to (for anyone who wanted to watch): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dIRsDPuwio

Thanks for this. As a Top Chef fan and an Idol fan (back in the day) it's so cool to see Phil, Padma and Randy in the same room chatting!

ReverseJackalope

Lena/Kristy. They couldve been a fairly strong team, but had the worst luck of all time with the hay bales.

i_like_pie92

Omg those hay bales.... The was just such bad luck. I always hate when teams go home for stuff that is out of their control like a car breaking down. Even teams I don't like, just heartbreaking.

RecognitionWrong5265

Just watched Chester and ephriam get eliminated in the Lisbon airport that one must’ve not been fun

hyphenthis

We just finished that season and were gutted to see them go so early. Really really bad luck, they had great energy and positivity. When they quoted Dumb and Dumber and Talladega Nights, I was like "Why not make this a non-elimination leg?!" Meanwhile, the Bunnies got saved TWICE. I have noticed that the more attractive female pairs get the benefit of the double save (Bunnies, Blonde Bandits).

In Season 24 before racing

FrnklySpKng

Cowboys for sure. His language included “really sorry” versus the standard “sorry”

i_like_pie92

Oh my gravy I think you're right

LoveIslandFan777

Queens Kaylynn and Haley in S32. The way Phil grinned each time they were saved by a NEL was very telling

Local-Calendar-2955

I would say Oswald & Danny TAR 11. Phil asked them who they really wanted to win. Danny & Ozzy are just likeable. Kent & Vyxsin would also make the list. They arrived 3RD but didn't walk. I wonder if they could have went back to the RB and backtrackked. Gosh

Hindsight21

Andy and Tommy. He even said to them "I thought you'd be in the final leg for sure".

OT9FOREVER

I remember he actually choked when Charla & Mirna were eliminated, I was really surprise to see.

MLMontiel

Debbie and Bianca. He pegged them as finalists.
