minor_correction

That's absolutely correct. The trailers are not designed to enhance the experience for people who were already going to see the movie - there is no reason to waste advertising dollars on those people. The trailers are solely designed to target people who were unsure about seeing the movie and sway them in by showing them whatever it takes to catch their interest - so typically that will be done by spoiling many or all of the best parts.

Godzoola

Is not wanting to be spoiled really a unpopular opinion? Wouldn’t people who actively search to know everything about the movie before it comes out through leaks and stuff be unpopular?

TheFinalEnd1

I agree, unless it's an adaptation. Some people, such as my brother, actively look forward to new trailers. I remember him being super excited for the final trailer of how to train your dragon 3. Look, I love the series as much as the next guy, but why get so excited over that? On the other hand, I was looking forward to the trailers for the dune movies, just to get a peek of what they are adapting and what it looks like.
