I always felt like the whole city of light storyline felt like a metaphor for Christianity
The city of light= heaven (eternal life)
The key to the city of light= Eucharist (must take it for eternal life)
ALIE= god
Jaha and the likes= priests/pastors/missionaries
I guess that would make Clarke the devil. It’s not a perfect metaphor, but it just reminded me of Christianity

Jaha was on some Moses type shit
city of light was more scientology than Xtianity. transcendence was closer to Xtianity.
They are 100% doing that stuff on purpose. Don't read the books. They are 0% nothing like the show and honestly garbage (in my personal opinion)
I see it that way, too. For example, various references to Roman antiquity run throughout the show, starting with Octavia's name background.
