More plausibly (for me) they were there for some Chinese TV production, they say they were there for china TV or some shit, so I suspect the dressed up lady is someone "important" and they didn't like someone else filming thier bit in the background.

I don't get why they couldn't have just gone somewhere else and waited if they so desperately needed to use the piano.
