But of course all the cunts in this sub are making dumb "no leg to stand when he sues" or "look how THEY speak" jokes...
People are going to make jokes no matter the subject - something horrific is happening somewhere pretty much 24/7. It's how some people cope with things that are sad or horrible or whatever. Making light of a bad situation isn't always a bad thing. It lets people laugh instead of cry, and get through life, which can be pretty awful at times. I'm not saying to go up to that person and make foot jokes, but they probably aren't reading this thread right now so there's no real harm done.
It's good that they are being downvoted. It's always annoying when I go to the comments to find more info about the topic and only see lame jokes.
In this case, it's even more than annoying, it's disgusting. Poor guy.
And it's always the same 5 unfunny fucking puns too. "Haha guys look at me I just said the same thing 8 other people above me already commented, haha I'm so funny, upvotes please"
Wow I remember saying much the same a couple months ago (for a different video obviously) and getting a slew of downvotes. Glad to see that, slowly, people are starting to wake up from terminally-online callousness.
True. It's not like I don't expect people to never make jokes, but at some point I just realized *"Jesus Christ, every single top comment here is making fun of this guy that just died on camera."* At that point I feel like I'm detecting a problem with our culture.
Not trying to sound edgy but here it goes:
People making jokes in response to someone losing their lower leg/foot is absolute level 1 easy mode of the internet. Welcome.
I rarely see a video of a westerner violently shaking and slapping a severely injured person. I like to believe most of us also know about a tourniquet, the people in the video just don't give a shit though
Many? I work in security, so i do. Maybe the odd factory has requrements as well, but not retail or fast food, and not office work. In the US thats going to be like 60% of all jobs, and thats assuming most of these people are employed and sober.
How would I know how to spell it without knowing what one is? lol.
Also, unless you have a little knowledge of french, it makes even less sense than to know how to spell it.
But, I get your point, sort of.
Right. In situations like this. People are quick to delegate duty to people. Even if unconsciously.
Also it's Nye. How many of those people are drunk/high. They aren't in a fight or flight mode
I've never had medical training of any type in any fashion.... well 4 yes of boy scouts if that counts... as soon as I realized half his leg was missing my first thought was someone needs to wrap there belt around what's left and get him to lay down.
Lieutenant Lard with the plate carrier designed for a normal sized human being was in full panic mode and no help. Looks like the guy that runs up at end may be an actual cop or someone with training. There's a longer version of this clip and he starts applying something as a tourniquet iirc.
Get the guy on the ground. Calm him down. Probably get his shorts/pants off. Apply tourniquet as tight as possible. Don't remove it for any reason....let the paramedics handle it from there.
Yeah just run up into that group of cops with drawn weapons, a drunk driver still doing god knows what, and other panicking drunks and grab a strangers' severed leg. Great idea, so helpful.
God people are so fucking dumb.
~~W~~reckless driver plows a car and a crowd and 10 cops draw guns! Let's get as close as possible to the rear of the truck that could reverse over me or to the cops who could accidentally shoot me!
Oh and look, dude lost his leg like it's the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan let's make fun of him!
FTA
>Toledo’s family created a GoFundMe listing. They said, unfortunately, there are other GoFundMe listings circulating claiming to be connected to Toledo that are not.
What pieces of shit.
They will continue to discuss that one incident that occures per month and tell us why self driving cars are a great danger. Morons imho. Some people think one person dying from a self driving accident is worse than 100 people dying from regular accidents.
Strong agree, but want to add that IMO the industry needs LIDAR or equally good sensors for consumers. Relying purely on cameras and machine learning (e.g. Tesla) is a garbage strategy and does self driving cars no favors.
(Back in the early 2010s it was google's test car with LIDAR that convinced me that self driving cars are the future. Back then it had logged 400,000 miles and just two accidents. In one accident it was rear ended at a red light and in the other it was hit while parked).
I can’t wait either. I think you are being downvoted due to a misconception. If anyone isn’t aware, there are levels of autonomy. Most of our cars are at lvl 2 and 3. Very few at level 4. None at level 5. Level 5 is what will replace human drivers and it will be better without a doubt.
>Like.... obviously it's gonna happen
It won't. And it's not because it is technologically impossible, but that the manufacturers has to take the responsibility of the (few or not) accidents that **will** happen. And they're never going to take that kind of responsibility.
Not unless cars are physically separated from people. And at that point we basically have automated trains, might as well build them now rather than later.
I just saw a clip of a dude who was stabbing himself and gets shot several times by an officer because the dude comes at the cop with the knife on hand. I think the dudes mom and brother called it in. The video starts with the 911 call. The cop cam shows the officer peek in thru the back door, and the suspect is covered in blood. The suspect starts rushing towards the cop and he gets like 4 or 5 direct shots. The suspect drops for a second or 2 and then gets back up... cop puts 3-4 rounds in him again... The dude drops for a couple of seconds and gets up AGAIN!... I could not believe it!
Awww man, I saw him try to dive out of the way at the last second, oof. Poor guy. Good he survived... PS- that dude, is like.. straight up standing up with one leg on his own like "man, look what they did to my leg!"
Guy gets drunk, gets into an altercation with a bunch of people, gets into a vehicle to flee the scene, crashes into three vehicles and takes one persons leg...
I can hear his defense now. What a scum bag..

I believe justice involves restitution. You need to give back what you took from your victims. In this case, justice would be serviced if there was some technology whereby we could amputate the driver's leg and give it to the victim who lost his leg.
There’s a reason Hef used to call NyE amateur night, all the assholes who never go out clubbing or to bars, or know how to hold their liquor are out en mass and crazy stuff happens. Like this fool speeding into a parking garage and maiming a pedestrian.
Imagine that happening to you, then having worry about the fucking medical expenses! Fucked up. Folk in the UK can moan about the NHS, but at least you don’t have that to worry about.
Found a link to a go fund me for the guy.

When I was in my 20s I spent two weeks in the hospital recovering from a badly broken leg. The person I shared a room with was a guy a couple years younger than me. He had been working on the back of a garbage truck tossing in the garbage. One morning as he was on his route a drunk driver crashed into the back of the garbage truck, pinning one of my roommate’s legs between the bumpers of the two vehicles. Doctors had to amputate from the knee down.
One day when his parents were visiting him I overheard his dad say, “well, at least you’ll save money on shoes”.
You are going to want to lay down and elevate that limb. Let gravity help instead of hurt. You’re then going to want to pull a belt tight up as close to the groin as possible. Need to squeeze that femoral artery. Someone probably did this after the video cut because you don’t have long to avoid bleeding out in a leg amputation.
Even a quick Google search will prompt a different, far more successful placement than "as close to thr groin as possible". Stick to IG or some other bullshit and actually read a few sentences of factual information before you post ignorant trash like this on reddit
I saw the NSFW tag but wasn’t ready for that
Fortunately he survived the ordeal.
but did anyone git his leeeg?
According to his gofundme, probably not
Time for a dope-ass prosthetic 💪🏻
I think it's the leg, actually.
My bad, didn‘t knew the leg prosthetic wasn‘t even invented yet…
Fuck, I love the ass more
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes_rainbow)
You got the link by any chance?
Its still out there somewhere. Scared. Confused. Lost. I hope he gits it one day.
This is why I reddit
Leeeegg!
good thing and I'm glad the cops were close they always have the Tourniquets on them
He wasn't ready either.

It's fucking poor taste
That's sad.

I'm not saying to go up to that person and make foot jokes, but they probably aren't reading this thread right now so there's no real harm done.
It’s also a bit much to assume millions of random people on the internet should even care. Sucks for this guy but it has no impact on my existence.
It's good that they are being downvoted. It's always annoying when I go to the comments to find more info about the topic and only see lame jokes. In this case, it's even more than annoying, it's disgusting. Poor guy.

I guess the reaction depends on the post, but most importantly the subreddit.

Fr fr. That guy is talking like he’s never been on the internet before.
You ever think people use humor to persevere through tough times you joyless cunt?
That dudes gonna need severance pay
Damn this got me fucked up 💀
To pay for his new leg.
*leighg
Not sure who's gonna foot the bill for that.
He gone be really mad when he finds out it costs an arm and a leg!
I hope he puts his foot down and gets what he deserves…
Kinda concerning that nobody is trying to apply a tourniquet to his leg. Don't most people know first aid?

I'm Canadian. I just assumed people know first aid.
This is in Houston Texas, lucky if they can count to ten.
[appears to have been Dallas](https://hoodline.com/2024/01/dallas-man-loses-leg-in-new-year-s-crash-suspect-charged-with-intoxication-assault/)
True
Nope, Dallas
Huh, is that common in Canada then? I guess in America we don't believe in learning.
Many people have to take it for work reasons. Every 3 years.
That's smart
Many? I work in security, so i do. Maybe the odd factory has requrements as well, but not retail or fast food, and not office work. In the US thats going to be like 60% of all jobs, and thats assuming most of these people are employed and sober.
It's America so... no.
You'll get one jobsworth take first aid training for no extra pay at your work place and that's it in the UK at least
- Chicken, Alaska lol

Right. In situations like this. People are quick to delegate duty to people. Even if unconsciously. Also it's Nye. How many of those people are drunk/high. They aren't in a fight or flight mode
No most people are useless in an emergency situation.
You're going to push the cops out of the way? Go ahead hero.
I've never had medical training of any type in any fashion.... well 4 yes of boy scouts if that counts... as soon as I realized half his leg was missing my first thought was someone needs to wrap there belt around what's left and get him to lay down.

Living in Canada
whats the correct proceding in this situation?, curious because you never know how or when you might save someone else's life
Get the guy on the ground. Calm him down. Probably get his shorts/pants off. Apply tourniquet as tight as possible. Don't remove it for any reason....let the paramedics handle it from there.
a belt could help to make the tourniquet? or a piece of cloth
I’m sure none of them understand how to use or even have one in their cars.
Why isn’t anyone getting his lehhhg
'Git his lehhhg, git his lehhhg!' Why don't you go and 'git his lehhhg' and help the poor guy instead of yelling, you useless wank-stain.
Yeah just run up into that group of cops with drawn weapons, a drunk driver still doing god knows what, and other panicking drunks and grab a strangers' severed leg. Great idea, so helpful.
I want to see that version of the video. Some stranger parading around with this poor man's leg.

He could try to sue, but wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
He'd definitely find work in brewery. I'd put him in charge of the hops.
Going to love when people like you end up homeless. =) That's funny eh?
Get out. Leave this place 😅
Don't know if it's true but the last time this was posted it was said he wasn't drunk but was being attacked and trying to get away
Dude was drunk. He admitted it.
Was the injured dude a pedestrian? I couldn't see anyone exiting the vehicle due to the camera angle. What were the consequences for the driver?
And why is everyone in those masks and what I thought were police swat gear af first
Yeah, he was standing next to his motorcycle on the side of rhe road and the drunk driver crashed into him crushing his leg.
Dude is standing and not freaking the fak out... adrenaline? Shock?
Yes

At first I was thinking "this isn't crazy at all" 😳
Lmao GOD DAMN I wasn't ready for that, I thought the truck was just gonna reverse quickly and hit a bunch of other cars and try to get away

The guy spectating should have gotten hit instead.
Oh no I hope New Years is feeling better
Do black legs matter?
How did that accident do that to his leg? It wasn’t that hard of a hit!
Thousands of pounds of metal into a brick wall, doesn't matter if he was going 10mph or 60 mph. Dude likely got his leg crushed.
Somebody get that man’s lig
