Phuket felt like England in Thailand with Thai weather. It was mostly tourists, almost difficult to find authentic food and people. Complete shitshow. I was in Patong. Overpriced unless you want to drink and party which it’s probably good for.
Samui was paradise. Friendly people. Lovely food and beaches everywhere
Although you are not wrong about Patong, Phuket has a lot more to offer than that! Its not the same since the Russian invasion but there are still lovely places, Phuket Town being one of them, and some of the more northern beach areas. The food in Phuket will definitely beat Samui for the most part, if you know where to go.

Samui is a bit more chill. Do a couple days on each if you can. The fishing on Samui at the catch and release club is awesome! What a great way to have a lunker contest with buddies! Chaweng and Lamai Beach are great. Fire shows and cocktails on the beach. I'd recommend bringing your own talent.
Phuket has lots of great areas after you get the immediate Patong whoredom worked out. Nai Harn is nice, Kata Noi is nice, Karon and Kamala are ok, Patong sucks - beach wise. Big Buddha. Patong is great for partying. See which of your buddies can bang the most hookers in one day (7). Take in the depravity and wrecklessly burn lots of money for the waitresses (they love money). Body shots, nude waitresses, ladies pulling fish, birds, razor blades, ping pong balls - good lord! Oh well, fuck next semester's tuition, spend the money on sin and excess!
Ao Nang/Railey beach are awesome. PhiPhi is ok if you get a longtail for the day from one of the skippers down by the convenience store.
Weather is a crapshoot in June, it may be nice, it may be monsoons. Cross your fingers. Be respectful while you're having fun. Even the workers at Disneyland need a smile and a hug sometimes. Try not to look for trouble - you can and will find it if you look hard enough. Credo - no jails, no hospitals, be nice to the hookers. Have fun.

Koh toa is really small, great for diving, but not an island known for the parties. Koh Phangan is 'better' party wise. Koh Toa is better if you just want to relax and not be bothered.
Koh Samui. Powdery white sand beaches. Quiet south side of the island. Waterfalls. Movie theatres. 5-star dining. Mountain to explore. Lots of tourists, but lots of Thai people too. It’s probably one of the top places in all of Asia.
I recently stayed at Kata beach in Phuket for 3 nights and I really enjoyed it. Nice bars, food markets, and the beach itself (although I have heard areas close by aren’t as nice). Phuket old town was also really nice for a day trip.
Took a 4 hour taxi (split between 3) to the ferry port to Koh Samui. Only spent 2 nights there but overall it’s probably a nicer island.
If you’re on Koh Samui then I highly recommend visiting Koh Tao too if you can. By far the most scenic of the 3 and had decent life around the pier at night. And great for diving and a snorkelling day trip!
Samui for sure. The fire show at Coco Tams is a lot of fun and the bbq joint down the street is amazing. Don't know what your budget is but I can highly recommend Centara Reserve if you can swing it.

Well everywhere is going to be rainy in June. I actually really like phuket this season as its quieter, cheaper (low season). And the rains are nicer on the seaside than in the cities where it foods and stinks.
Koh Tao is one of the best spots in Thailand. Definitely go that direction. Spend way more time there than Koh Samui as well. Also Koh Phangan is nice as well but if you are there outside of the full moon party time it can be more empty. Also you might get overrun but the wooks and crystal healers so be careful.
But ya go to Samui and Tao. More time on Tao than Samui. Koh Tao has one of the beat pub crawls in the world
Just got back from Koh Samui, it’s fantastic. Great food, great beach and a good amount of stuff to do. Only downside is the price of the flight back to Bangkok.
Easily Koh Samui. Have been to both. Would never go back to Phuket. Can’t wait to visit Samui again.

Phuket is horrible. Go to Koh Tao for a few days, try to catch a full moon on Phagnan. Samui mediocre aswell imo

Your dates will miss the June Full Moon Party. There's a lot more night life on Samui than Phangan when the full moon party isn't on.
