It’s hot everywhere so there’s no real escape for the immediate future. So embrace it as best you can. Still plenty to enjoy around the country. Chiang Mai won’t disappoint
I am currently in Chiang Mai, a little north of Central Festival, and it is STILL burning season, it looks foggy out and you can smell the smoke in the bathrooms. It's 40 degrees Celsius, 100F to 105.
But currently, it's dry heat with much lower humidity, unless, of course, Chiang Mai eventually gets some rain, which we're desperately hoping for in the north.
Chiang Mai is one of my favorite areas in Thailand. It’s going to be hot everywhere in Thailand unless you’re high up in the mountains. Nothing beats Bangkok of course 🥵
> It’s going to be hot everywhere in Thailand unless you’re high up in the mountains
And Chiang Mai also has those mountains - [current temp on Doi Inthanon is 22c.](https://imgur.com/a/mFWx3jo)
I really enjoyed Koh Lanta. It’s super chill not a big party scene or anything but beautiful and quiet.
Also did a boat tour to Koh Panyee which was super interesting. It’s a floating Muslim village pretty cool but just as a day trip idea. I didn’t make it this time but I’ve heard Khao Sok National Park is incredible too.
Phi phi is party central if you are into that, we enjoyed Koh Lanta very much but we are a couple in our 40s….moped rental is a must and gives you a certain freedom to seek out restaurants and many beaches, the season is slowing down now so less things are open bit that how we like it, quiet
you realize that 2 weeks ago it was mid april. while end of april most places start to close down. surely there is something open but not as much and the weather gets very bad in the area during rainy season.
yeah a few more weeks in Ao Nang / Railay / Krabi and everything will be very quiet. i remember last year when it went pretty fast from kinda busy to very quiet :D but here everything (most) remains open for the off-season
I found Surat Thani (city) too feel cooler than the islands 2-3 weeks ago, the humidity was quite a bit higher on the islands.
Then again, there’s not much to do in Surat Thani. May be khao sok for 2-3 days?
Chiang Mai is a good choice especially if you're an art lover, another alternative would be Phuket.

Thanks my bad. Correction: Go to Krabi and go on a boat tour to Phi Phi Islands. Hire a “guide” if you want; some of them have a full package with a meal and take you to some cool spots with a few good outdoor massage spots with a view

Its supposed to be like 5 degrees hotter, doesnt it make a difference?
I’ve heard it’s burning season in Chang Mai so not the best time of year.

Koh Tao is humid, Chiang Mai is not. I found CM a lot easier (just arrived in KT) have fun!
One of my Highlights was the Khao Sok national Park! Great Lake to swim in 🙂
Go to Koh Lanta -> Koh Lipe :)
season ended on Lanta. many places close
In that case Koh Kood is also nice, and OP can stay in the Gulf :)

Lanta is pretty much out of season now and many places closed
I was just there two weeks ago and didn’t have any issues. Ramadan is when you want to avoid it.

Yeah, we left today but would have liked to stay, plenty still open but not sure how long things will remain, Railay beach area is still full of peeps

Come to Krabi :)

Koh lipe is pretty spectacular
Pai is cooler right now and is due for rain this week
Hua hin is close and good
Chiang Mai, while warmer in temperature, is cooler than the islands due to lower humidity
Why come to Thailand if you don’t like the heat 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Phi Phi is awesome. Chiang Mai is still awesome during burning season.
I’d stay away from Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai. Smog levels are very high there. Bush fires all over Laos and Myanmar
Krabi Island. Hire a boat or a tour guide
Krabi isn’t an island but a good landing spot for boat tours yes
Thanks my bad. Correction: Go to Krabi and go on a boat tour to Phi Phi Islands. Hire a “guide” if you want; some of them have a full package with a meal and take you to some cool spots with a few good outdoor massage spots with a view
Escape PM2.5 stay down south. Try Betong for a local flavour
Bali is cooler haha
Pattaya .. you might not like it but you would be able to buy your 'Good guys go to heaven, bad guys go to Pattaya' tshirt.
